11.Why is Noah jealous?

IN A FEW DAYS AT ISABELLA'S POV: Tonight the grand ballroom glimmered with luxury as I stepped inside, my gown sweeping the marble floor. Tonight was different I wasn’t wearing something simple like before. The dress I wore was a deep, shimmering blue, embroidered with silver thread that caught the light with every movement. The cut was elegant, the fabric soft against my skin. As I moved through the crowd, I could feel the eyes of the nobles on me, but this time it wasn’t judgmental whispers about my appearance. Instead, there was admiration, perhaps even envy. I needed to get Noah to see me differently. I needed to show that I am perfectly fine without him and this dress is perfect. "Lady Isabella, isn’t it?" A smooth voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned to find a tall, dark-haired noble standing before me, his eyes gleaming with interest. He bowed slightly and offered me his hand. "May I say, you look absolutely stunning tonight."He said. I gave him a polite smile, taking his hand as he led me further into the room. "Thank you." I replied though I could sense his gaze lingering longer than it should. "I must admit, I’ve been hoping for a moment to speak with you. A woman of your beauty and grace deserves to be the center of attention at every ball." He said. "Well, my lord, I’m sure you’ve met many beautiful women tonight. Surely you don’t need to flatter me so much."I said. He grinned, his eyes never leaving mine. "No flattery, my lady. Only the truth. A woman like you is rare in these halls."He said. I was about to respond when I felt a sudden shift in the air, the hairs on the back of my neck standing on end. Before I could turn, a familiar voice cut through the space between us. "Isabella." Noah’s voice was sharp and cold. I spun around to find him standing just a few feet away, his eyes dark with something that looked an awful lot like... jealousy. "Noah." I greeted him, forcing a smile, but his expression remained hard as he looked between me and Lord who still hadn't told me his name. "Prince Noah, I didn’t realize Lady Isabella was... occupied."He said. "She’s always occupied."Noah said coldly, stepping closer and placing a firm hand on my arm, pulling me gently but possessively toward him."Now, if you’ll excuse us." "Of course, Your Highness. I’ll take my leave." He turned to me, giving a final charming smile. "It was a pleasure, Lady Isabella. I do hope we meet again." As soon as he walked away, Noah’s grip on my arm loosened, but he didn’t let go. He glanced down at me, his jaw tight. "What exactly do you think you’re doing?"Noah asked. "I was just talking to him. What’s the problem?"I said. "Talking? Isabella, he was practically drooling over you." Noah said. "And? It’s a ball, Noah. People talk, people flirt. It’s harmless."I said. "Not when it’s you. Not when he’s looking at you like that," Noah said. My wolf would rip him apart, but I'm good at controlling my emotions." "You’re jealous."I said. "I am not. Don’t flatter yourself."He said. "Oh, I don’t need to. Your face says everything."I said. "Just stay away from men like him. They’re trouble."Noah said with annoyance in his voice. "Or maybe you’re just upset that I was getting attention from someone other than you."I said. "I don’t care who gives you attention, Isabella. But I won’t let anyone treat you like a game."Noah said. "And what makes you think you have any say in who I talk to?"I asked. "Because. He said, his eyes locked onto mine. "You’re mine. Whether you like it or not." The intensity of his words sent a shiver down my spine, and for a moment, I was speechless. I turned and walked away, leaving Noah standing in the middle of the ballroom, his eyes burning into my back. My plan worked perfectly causing me to see if Noah could get jealous because of me, but right now I worried that it worked a little too well. AT THE SAME TIME AT NOAH'S POV: I watched Isabella walk through the crowd. She looked different tonight radiant, even, in that deep blue gown. It was like she’d transformed, no longer the quiet, reserved girl trying to stay out of sight. She was commanding attention, and damn if every man in the room didn’t notice. My jaw clenched as I spotted a man making his way toward her, that smug grin plastered on his face. I watched as he bowed slightly, taking her hand, and the way she smiled back at him, was polite, but warm and that set me on edge. I hated seeing another man close to her and each second made me more and more mad. As soon as I got her away from him, I could tell she wasn't happiest about it. I don't care. "She is ours." My wolf said. "She is."I said."It's time for her to learn that." I muttered something to myself as I went to enjoy rest of the evening. It's time to show Isabella who she truly belongs too. It's time for her to see what does alpha mean and why she belong to me.
