Leaving
I looked at the twinkling stars above my head, leaning against a tree trunk on the mossy forest floor. I heard crashing noises coming from my house, and my parents loud voices could be heard as well.
I sighed and went in a more comfortable position;my both arms behind my head and I got more access to the sky.
"Why is my life like this?" I whispered to myself. "why can't I be like other normal people? I wish my life was different." just then a star flew across the sky. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the cool wind blowing against my cheeks.
When the noise had died down, I stood up and went inside. The whole living room was a mess and I heard whimpering and cry from upstairs. I just ignored it and went to my room. This was a normal thing;they would argue and fight and cry and then they would make up. It will be all good in the morning.
After changing my clothes, I lay on my bed and starred at the ceiling until I fell asleep.
I woke up this morning on my own as always. You see I'm not like other teenagers who need their parents or an alarm clock to wake them up. I have been waking up on my own since I knew myself;once dawn has broken I was wide awake.
I did my morning routine which was to shower, blow dry my hair and put on my clothes, and then headed downstairs to greet my parents. The air was thick with tension as i found my mother in the kitchen preparing breakfast and my father was in the now tidy living room, drinking coffee and reading news paper.
"Good morning Mother and Father."
"Good morning Nelly." My mother said in a hoarse voice. I saw the tear streaks on her cheeks but thought better than to question her about it.
My father pretended as if he hadn't heard me. He ignored me. As always since...
I hurriedly eat my breakfast which consisted of pancakes then brushed my teeth and head out.
The school was about a ten minute walk from here. And I had about 40 minutes until school starts.
My name is Nelly Skaii Michaels. I'm not a goth but I like dark colors and purple. Got a few piercings and two tattoos. I have two friends and I am what people in my school call the mute. It's because I don't talk to people at school and I have friends only because they have known me for my entire life before I became who I am now.
I went through the gates of the school and felt the familiar glares of people. I have gotten used to it by now but I still get bothered by it. These judgmental assholes.
My bff (Best female friend) Annabelle and male bestie Adrian jogged up to me and greeted me with a hug. "So I got the pass Papers to study for next month's exams." Annabelle said. She is what you would consider as a nerd. But without the glasses and baggy clothes.
"Ugh... Why do you always have to bring up stupid school stuff in every situation?!" Adrian asked her with an irritated look on his face. He is the definition of Bad boy and could fit in easily with the popular crowd if he wanted to.
You see our school is kinda cliché if you ask me. The two started arguing and somehow they ended up on which one between a chicken and egg came first.
".... So what do you you think? A chicken just magically fell from the sky? You're a damn fool if you think that, dumb ass." Annabelle retorted and flicked him on his forehead.
I couldn't stop the little giggle that came from me seeing them bicker like that. "Okay guys break it up!" I said quietly. Then the bell rang signalling the beginning of school and first period.
As I walked through the halls people looked at me with hate and disgust and i heard comments like, 'look at the ugly mute freak.'
'what a slut'
'slutty freak'
Of course my beloved friends did something about it and glared at every one threatening me. Annabelle wasn't the scary type but she could be pretty frightening when she wants to. And Adrian is just plain scary. He has this dark aura around him sometimes.
I was in the cafeteria eating lunch with my friends when the principal announced that he wanted to see me in the office on the speakers. The cafeteria erupted in 'ohhhs' and someone asked me, "gonna attend to your slut duties?!" and everyone burst out laughing.
"Mrs. Michaels your mother is here to take you home said that something extremely important has surfaced. I will notify your teachers of your absence and I assure that you'll get all your homework and notes. Here's a pass."
I walked outside to see my mother waiting for me in her Range Rover. I went inside the vehicle and I was surprised to see it packed with our bags and my Dad wasn't here.
"Hey Mom, what's up?"
"I cannot stand it here anymore. If i stay here one more day I swear I will go crazy. Your father is just too controlling and selfish. So we are leaving and staying at your aunt Emilia's house. It's very big... Could fit ten people and still have room for ten more. Your father doesn't know that i left with you and i advise that you don't tell him."
I was frozen. I couldn't believe that I was leaving. Sure i didn't like it here but i like my friends.
"Mom I can't leave my friends without telling them."
"They can't know that we have left and where we are going and your father would most likely force them into telling him."
I took a deep breath knowing that its best for my mom and I so I nodded and she smiled in satisfaction. She ran her hands through my hair and kissed my forehead.
Well this is it......
