The tree that took out power to the doggy day care lay halfway across the business’s parking lot. If it had been another ten feet taller, it might have nicked the gym and sent Matt home early, as well. Or rather, send home Roxie, Matt thought as he closed the passenger side door of his Jaguar behind Sadie and raced around to the driver’s side in the pouring rain. I’m already headed home but hey, she could’ve used a break. Not that he was too worried about it. Without him there to torment, chances were Roxie would leave before two on some trumped up excuse, anyway. And there was still the chance of another tree coming down on the gym’s power lines.
