A Tale of Three Lunas-Completed

Chapter 41

Zinnia's POV

He left. He just left me. Kissed me on my forehead like I'm some kid he's babysitting and just walked away. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I looked devastatingly gorgeous tonight and he didn't try anything with me.

Lorenzo has been a gentleman since I've known him and it is obvious that he is a good guy. He said he would be there for me, but did he mean as a friend? Does he view me as his mate or as some sad girl he has to take care of? Is it because I'm having problems remembering some stuff? There was some passion in the way he used to look at me when we shared moments in the past, in the King's bathroom, during our walk in the forest, when he marked me. Is the spark gone already? Ever since he learned I was a virgin, he hasn't done more than kiss me. He marked me, but he didn't mate me. Why would he do that?

I hope things will calm down soon. Lorenzo was always in so many meetings when we were in New Moon. I thought once we got here, we would take it to the next step. I don't want to be too hard on him, but there is no way to sugarcoat it.

I want him.

I peel off my dress and take a long shower. I go to sleep naked, hoping maybe he will come, but he never does. When I wake up, all I feel is more frustration and I need to get it out.

'KJ, I'm sorry to bother you. Are you busy?'

'Not at all. I was just gonna run some laps.'

'Oh.'

'Wanna spar?'

'Yes.'

'Let's go. 10 minutes.'

I thank the moon goddess that he is here in East Moontrail. Him just being here helps this place feel like home. I don't want to be anywhere else because it's like this is where I am meant to be. KJ and I need to talk more and I need to get some of this frustration out.

I'm super out of practice. I've been working as a sitter and haven't trained at all since that last day at West Moontrail. I put together an outfit and head out. Alonzo is there too, which I am happy to see.

"How much did you train since the last time I saw you?" he asks.

"Not at all."

"Okay, I guess we'll see where you are now. Come at me. Try to knock me on my ass."

I charge him, but miscalculate and end up on my own ass.

KJ chuckles. "Good hustle. Try again."

I stand back up and brush myself off. I take a deep breath and zero in on his left leg. I strike and have him laid out swiftly.

"Whoa, lucky shot. Do it again."

This time, I take a different approach, getting behind him and sweeping his leg. I knock him down and even have him vulnerable enough for me to take a kill shot. He gets up and we continue for a while, competing hand-to-hand and I push myself harder than I ever have.

"Who is this girl? Are you sure you weren't trained in the New Moon Pack?" he asks, scratching his head.

"Believe me, I was completely domestic. I was taking care of a baby everyday."

"Well, you were marked by an Alpha so that might explain the extra power behind all of your strikes and your precision, but even your fighting style has changed, your whole attitude. You are becoming the Luna, you always said you wanted to be." he smiles.

KJ has known me forever and he knew what my goals were when I was in West Moontrail. It's almost like we were never apart. I am so happy to hear him say that.

I'm so happy he is in my life again and I am enjoying my time with this new dynamic of him and Alonzo. Someone clears their throat and I see that it is my mate and I can't help but roll my eyes.

He has to understand that my relationship with KJ is not like that, but he is very important in my life and I'm not gonna stop being friends with him. I walk past him and back to my room to shower and relax. I plan out the rest of my day in my head. I want to have a look around the packlands, see what's going on here since, now that I think about it, Lorenzo hasn't even introduced me to his pack yet.

I finish showering and get dressed, but stop when Xena appears in my mind.

'I need the body.' she says.

'Now is not a good time.'

'I wasn't asking.'

Before I can respond, Xena overtakes me, pushing me to the back of our mind. I try to hold on, but she doesn't stop pushing until I'm unable to speak, see or move.
