A Tale of Three Lunas-Completed

Chapter 17

Lorenzo's POV

Last night was the longest night of my life. I ran for hours in the freezing cold to clear my head and calm my wolf. Once I shifted, Nathaniel ran out his rage and I just went where he took me. He ended up taking me into a cluster of Ihowtons. He let out his rage by tearing many of them apart. By the time I realized where I had ended up, I had to travel hours to get back to the castle.

What am I supposed to do now? I met my mate. The thing that I have been waiting for has happened, but I can't help but feel robbed. How ever she got the baby, it wasn't right. If I decide to stay with her and I adopt him, that male child will be able to challenge my own pups for the title of Alpha of the East Moontrail Pack in the future.

I decide I just need her to answer some questions before I make a decision. At the end of the day, no matter how I feel and what I'm dealing with, my wolf still wants his mate. First, I need to get this meeting I should be focused on over with so I can go find her. If I need to reject her, at least by the time I leave here and go back home, I can have a new start.

"Something is off with you today, asshole. You never told me why you bailed on me last night."

I'm sitting next to Kaipo in a conference room for the meeting that he keeps telling me I should have been here for months ago. I'm so on edge that if I wasn't the reason we were having this meeting so late, I would just ask them to send the info to me in an email.

"Something came up." I shrug.

Kaipo's gamma has been talking for a while, giving the room some of the highlights of the West Moontrail Pack's atrocities and stating what they are hoping to accomplish by making contact with them, all information I already know.

I feel like I'm gonna pull my hair out if this goddamn meeting doesn't end soon and then I smell her. Her refreshing, soft scent pulls me out of my own self-inflicted torture.

I look up and see her just outside the conference room door. She wears a sky blue sweater dress with her braids high up in a ponytail. She's perfect in every way and now the room is lit in a way that it wasn't before she stepped in. She is tall, but still short compared to me. She is a little curvy and she looks sturdy. She is afraid, a bit nervous. Actually, she should be nervous. She did steal my coat.

After a second, her face changes and her head whips toward me. She turns red and immediately averts her eyes. Kai looks at me and his Beta walks over to him.

"Someone broke into her room last night, so she is a bit shaken."

Murmurs about what happened circulate the room, but I keep my eyes on her.

"Zinnia, this is Lorenzo. He is the Alpha of the East Moontrail Pack. We just need you to speak more about the incoming Alpha of your old pack. We want to figure out how we are going to approach him once he takes power." the Beta says to her.

So, her name is Zinnia.

She looks up at him and then briefly at me.

"What do you need me to say exactly?" she says in a tiny voice. Her voice is so small. I bet she wishes I couldn't hear it.

She is guilty.

"Well, you were in a relationship with him, right? So just whatever you feel is relevant."

A bellowing laugh that I have no control over erupts from deep within me. I got my answer without even having to ask any questions. Every eye in the place is now on me because I look insane, but I don't give a f**k.

"So, is that who's baby that was in your room?"

She looks at me puzzled before making the connection. "You broke my doorknob?"

"You stole my coat." I counter.

She stiffens before excusing herself from the room. I really can't be bothered. While I was over here trying to meet with the West Moontrail Pack, my mate, my 'gift from the Moon Goddess' was busy strengthening their lineage.

"Leave us."

Kaipo addresses the room and it clears in just a few seconds.

"What the f**k was that?" His voice booms in the empty room. Kai is a friend of mine and we have been through a lot together, but I won't take any advice from him. Besides, even though she had been living in his castle, she belongs to me and I have the final say on how she will be dealt with.

"With all due respect, I don't want to discuss it. What goes on between me and my mate is not your business."

He stops in front of me and slams his fist on the table.

"Oh, actually it is because your mate works for my sister. See, she delivered my sister's baby in the woods and now she is his nanny. So if I have an ignorant, hot-headed Alpha senselessly walking around my home and breaking in to the room where the King's first grandson sleeps, it is my business."

Fuck.

His eyes glaze over as he speaks using his mindlink and I go stand over by the window. I can't believe I was that off. I completely misjudged her. I even embarrassed her in front of all those people. She didn't deserve that. She-she's amazing. My mate did that? Delivered the King's grandson?

I have to talk with her.

"Where is she?"

"She's with the baby. Go wait for her in my office. If she decides she still wants to speak to you, I'll send her there."

"Kai, I really f****d up. I'm sorry, man."

"Yea, you really did."

I go to his office and wait for Zinnia, hoping that she will give me a chance. I run through my mind what I am going to say to her when I see her.

After a while, the office door finally opens.
