CHAPTER 1

A fine red car pulled to a stop in front of the shopping mall, and a 24-year-old young lady named Cindy Williams stepped out of the car, shutting the door behind her as she walked toward the shopping boutique in front of her. Cindy clicked her red high-heeled shoes against the cemented ground as she quickly approached the female shopping boutique to purchase the clothing she would need to attend her best friend's birthday party. With the sun burning brightly on her beautiful yellow skin, Cindy frowned as she realized she had forgotten her umbrella in her car, and she couldn't walk back to retrieve it. Cindy sighed as she finally entered the shopping mall and exhaled, "Phew!" She took out her handkerchief from her red purse and wiped the sweat off her forehead before returning it to her bag and looking around the boutique she had entered. Cindy was wearing a long white gown that hugged her body tightly, accentuating her feminine shape. She attracted a lot of attention from passersby, as she was the epitome of beauty. Zipping up her red purse, Cindy looked around the shop when a saleswoman finally walked up to her. "Welcome, ma'am. What would you like to buy today?" the saleswoman asked. "Let me see the types of dresses you have for a birthday party," Cindy requested. "Okay, madam. This way, please," the saleswoman ushered Cindy toward the selection of feminine wear. Cindy followed slowly behind her, glancing at the samples of clothing and the other women shopping in the boutique. Cindy didn't touch any of the gowns she saw; she merely looked at them and walked past with an expressionless face. The saleswoman showed her a collection of gowns, then stopped and asked, "Which length of gown do you prefer, madam—long or short?" Cindy looked around again and replied, "I don't know. What do you think would fit me? I mostly love to wear white." The saleswoman gulped and smiled. "I’m not sure, madam, but this white gown you’re wearing really looks pretty on you. Would you prefer another cute white gown, perhaps longer or shorter?" Cindy exhaled, "Hmm. White is my favorite color, but I am thinking of something different, like blue, yellow, or green gowns. What do you think?" The saleswoman replied, "Let me check." Cindy stood aside as she watched the young lady pull out different types of gowns: yellow, blue, red, and green. But none of the gowns seemed to interest Cindy. Cindy frowned, as she did not like any of the gowns the saleswoman was showing her. Not wanting to leave the boutique rudely, and realizing she had wasted the saleswoman's time, she finally asked, "Do you have any white suits? I love white suits too. Let me see the white suits you have. The party is tomorrow, and I want to look fresh, I guess." "Okay," the saleswoman replied. One thing her manager had trained her on was to satisfy their customers first with whatever the customer requested to see, no matter how much the customers rejected. "Can you wait here for me, madam? Let me go bring the white suits. Or would you like to follow me to see and try them on?" the saleswoman asked. "Okay, I'll follow you to see them," Cindy replied, and she followed the saleswoman. They walked to another collection of clothes, and Cindy's eyes landed on a beautiful white suit she saw on a mannequin. Cindy loved the golden collar design of the white suit coat, which had two front buttons and a white pencil skirt beneath. "Wow!" gasped another lady standing beside the white suit, admiring it as she negotiated the price with another saleswoman. Cindy fell in love with the white suit immediately and wasted no time pointing at it, saying to the saleswoman attending her, "I want that suit! Package it for me. Let me have it and leave." The lady who initially wanted to buy the suit, still negotiating its price with the saleswoman, glared at Cindy irritably, wanting to purchase it too. However, the price of the suit was exorbitant—$10,000. Cindy had come out of nowhere and wanted to purchase the suit immediately. The lady could see how arrogant and nonchalant Cindy appeared, grimacing as she turned her gaze back to the saleswoman attending to her. The lady asked the saleswoman, "Do you have another white suit? I want to buy this particular one, but it's just the price." "No, madam, we don't have another suit. This is the last piece left. Are you purchasing it now or not? We have another customer interested as well," the saleswoman kindly told her, but that didn't sit well with the lady. The lady's eyes narrowed at Cindy in anger. She opened her purse and calculated all the money she had available, as well as her debit card balance through her phone. But it wasn't enough to purchase the beautiful white suit. Cindy stared at the saleswoman and asked, "What's going on here? What’s taking you so long to package this white suit for me? Let me leave. Or don’t you want to sell it to me anymore? Do you want me to leave and go somewhere else?" "No, madam. Please wait. This lady here wanted to buy this suit first, before you requested it," the saleswoman kindly explained. Cindy's eyes met the young lady's gaze, but she looked away and said, "Then I'm out of here. I cannot keep standing here waiting for you to finish with all of this. Do you know who I am?" The lady, unable to purchase the suit due to insufficient funds, looked at Cindy with disdain, irritated by her arrogant attitude. The lady snapped at Cindy, "Who are you, by the way? Just because you're rich, you think you can oppress others? Do you know who I am?" Cindy's jaw dropped as she looked at the lady but didn’t respond. She noticed that the lady seemed a bit older than her. Cindy shifted her gaze back to the saleswoman attending her earlier and said, "Because I've wasted so much of your time here today, I will give you only ten seconds to arrange this white suit for me, or else I will leave and go elsewhere to purchase it. But before that, let me see the jewelry you have." The lady hissed loudly as Cindy ignored her, knowing her funds weren't enough to buy the expensive white suit. The lady stared pleadingly at the saleswoman and asked, "Can I deposit money for this white suit? I will come back later to pick it up and complete the payment." "I'm sorry, madam, but credit isn't allowed here, nor is paying in advance," the saleswoman replied. "Why? I hope it’s not because of that lady that you don't want to sell this beautiful white suit to me?" the lady inquired. "No, madam. Why wouldn't I sell it to you if my manager accepted credits or advance payments? You can check outside at our banner at the top, and you will see it boldly written at the door entrance: NO CREDITS ALLOWED HERE," the saleswoman explained kindly. "Hmm... that's alright. It means I will come back some other time to purchase it. You can also help me talk to your manager about it and request a similar suit in this exact design and size. I will return." "Okay, madam. I will inform my manager about it," the second saleswoman said, while Cindy turned back and asked, "Is my suit ready or not?" The lady customer huffed and walked away angrily, subtly pushing Cindy aside as she exited the boutique. Cindy was startled, but she sighed and finally looked back at the two saleswomen. She asked, "How much is everything I bought here? The shoes, necklace, diamond earrings, bangles, and this suit?" The initial saleswoman attending to Cindy earlier punched in numbers on her calculator, calculating all the items Cindy had purchased. She said, "That will be $50,000." "Hmm, no discount?" Cindy asked, pulling out her debit card to pay for the items. "No, madam. That's the fixed price," the saleswoman replied, smiling at Cindy. "That's fine. Package everything. Let me leave," Cindy said, and the saleswoman quickly packaged all the items in a white plastic bag and handed it over to her. Cindy finally collected the bag and walked out of the shopping boutique, heading to her car.
