CHAPTER 1

A red Toyota SUV pulled to a stop in front of the shopping mall, and a 24-year-old blonde lady, Cindy Williams got out of the car. She shut the car door closed before walking up to the shopping boutique in front of her. Cindy's red high-heeled shoes clicked on the cemented ground, as she walked faster towards the female shopping boutique to purchase the clothes, she needed to attend her best friend's birthday party the following day. With the sun burning brightly on her beautiful fair skin, Cindy frowned as she had forgotten her umbrella in the car and couldn’t walk back to get it. She sighed, entered the shopping mall and exhaled, "Phew!" She took out her white handkerchief from her red purse and wiped the sweat from her forehead, before returning the handkerchief into her red purse and looking around the boutique she had entered. Cindy donned a long white gown, which hugged her body and showcased her feminine shape. She attracted many people's attention, as she was a pure epitome of beauty. She stared inside the shop, and a dark-sknned saleswoman walked up to meet her. "Welcome, Ma'am. What do you want to buy today?" the saleswoman asked. "Let me see the types of dresses you have for birthday party," Cindy replied. "Okay, madam. This way, please," the saleswoman ushered Cindy to have a look at the list of feminine wears they sell. Cindy followed the saleswoman slowly from behind, glancing around at the sample of clothes, and observing the other females shoppers. She didn’t touch any of the gowns, only looking at them and walking past them with an expressionless face. The saleswoman stopped and showed Cindy the collection of gowns they sell, asking, "Which length of gown do you want, Madam, long or short?" Cindy looked around once more and replied, "I don't know. What do you think will fit me? I mostly love to wear white." Gulping, the saleswoman replied with a smile, "I don't know, Madam, but this white dress that you’re wearing really looks pretty on you. Would you prefer another cute white gown like this, probably longer or shorter?" Cindy exhaled, "Hmph. White is my favorite color, but I am thinking of something different like blue, yellow, or green gowns. What do you think?" Smiling nervously, the saleswoman said, "Let me check." Cindy stood aside, watching the saleswoman—a black young lady, pull out different types of gowns. Yellow, blue, red, and green. But none of them seemed to enticed Cindy. Cindy frowned as she did not like any of the gowns. Not wanting to leave the shopping boutique rudely, as she realized she had wasted the saleswoman's time, Cindy asked, "Do you have any white suits? I love white suits. Let me see what you have. Probably I can choose that, as the party is tomorrow, and I need to look new, I guess..." "Okay, madam," the saleswoman said. (One thing her madam had trained her on—was to satisfy their customers first with whatever the customer requested to see. No matter how many clothes the customers rejected.) "Can you wait here for me, Madam? Let me go and bring the white suit? Or would you like to accompany me there to see it, and likewise try it on?" the saleswoman politely asked Cindy. "Okay, let me follow you to go and see it," Cindy replied, following the saleswoman. They walked to another collection of clothing samples, Cindy's eyes landed on a beautiful white suit displayed on a mannequin. She loved the golden collar design of the white suit coat, which had only two frontal buttons, and a white pencil-shaped trouser. "Wow!" gasped another lady standing beside the white suit, and also admiring it. She negotiated the price with another saleswoman—a yellow-skinned woman. Cindy loved the white suit, and hastily pointed to the same white suit, saying, "I want that suit. Package it for me so I can have it and leave." The young woman, who initially wanted to purchase the white suit, but was still negotiating its price, stared at Cindy coldly, as she wanted to buy the suit. However, it was overly expensive—$10,000 for the suit. Despite this, Cindy came out of nowhere and wanted to purchase the suit. The young woman could see how arrogant and nonchalant Cindy looked. She grimaced and looked away, then she fixated her attention on the salesperson attending to her. "Excuse me, do you have another white suit? I want to buy this, but it’s just the price." "No, madam. We don't have another suit, as this is the last piece left. Are you purchasing it now or not? We have another customer who wants to buy it," the fair-skinned saleswoman kindly replied, but that didn't sit well with the customer. She narrowed her eyes at Cindy in a fist of rage and opened her black purse. She calculated all the money available in it, and on her debit card, but it was insufficient to purchase the beautiful white suit. Cindy, who was glancing around the boutique, looked back at the second saleswoman, inquiring, "What's going on here? What's taking you so long to package this white suit for me to leave here? Don't you want to sell it anymore? Do you want me to leave it and go away?" "No, Madam. Please wait, as this lady here wanted to purchase this suit before you requested it," the black-skinned saleswoman explained to Cindy. Cindy looked at the customer's face, meeting her cold eyes directed at her. "Hmm." She clenched her jaw and said to the saleswoman, "Then I am out of here, as I cannot keep standing here and waiting for you to round up! Do you know who I am?" The customer, whose account was insufficient to purchase the suit, looked at Cindy with disdain and inquired, "Who are you that you cannot allow us to hear? Because you're rich, you think you can oppress others. Do you also know who I am?" Cindy's jaw dropped, as she looked back at the customer, but she didn’t respond, seeing that the customer seemed a bit older than her. Cindy then shifted her gaze back to the black-skinned saleswoman attending to her and said, "Because I've wasted so much of your time here today. I will give you only ten seconds to arrange this white suit for me to leave here, or else I will go elsewhere." The customer hissed aloud as Cindy ignored her. The customer knew her money was insufficient to purchase the white suit. She turned to plead with the fair-skinned saleswoman, asking, "Excuse me, can I deposit this amount of money for this white suit? Then I will return later to pick it up and complete the payment." The fair-skinned saleswoman apologetically looked at the female customer and said, "I'm sorry, madam, but neither credit nor advance p*****t is allowed here." "Why?!" The customer raised her voice, "I hope it’s not because of that lady that you don’t want to sell this beautiful white suit to me?" "No, madam. Why wouldn't I sell it to you if my madam actually accepted credit or advance p*****t? You can check outside on our banner at the top, and you will see it boldly written on it at the door entrance that—NO CREDITS ALLOWED," the yellow saleswoman kindly explained. "Hmph. Alright then, it seems I will come back some other time to purchase it. Can you help me talk to your madam about it, to get another white designer suit like this one and it size? I will be back," the female customer said, saddened that she couldn't afford the suit at that moment. "Sure, madam. I will inform my lady boss about it," the fair-skinned saleswoman said. Just then, Cindy returned and demanded, "Is my suit ready or not?" The female customer hissed again, and subtly pushed Cindy aside, as she exited the shopping boutique angrily. Cindy was taken aback by the customer audacity. She sighed and asked the two saleswomen, "How much are all the items that I have bought here? The shoes, necklace, diamond earrings, bangles, and also this white suit?" The black-skinned saleswoman punched her calculator, and replied, "$50,000." "Hmm, no discount?" Cindy asked, taking out her debited card from her red purse and paying for her purchase. "No, madam. That's the fixed price," the black-skinned saleswoman said, grinning at Cindy. "Alright, package everything, let me leave here," Cindy said to which the saleswoman hastily packaged everything in a white polythene bag. She then handed it over to Cindy. Cindy accepted the white bag and matched out of the shop, struggling to carry her small load.
