Chapter 1
A fine red car pulled to a stop in front of the shopping mall, and a 24-year-old young lady named Cindy Williams stepped down from the car as she shut the car door, before she walked up to the shopping boutique in front of her.
Cindy clicked her red high-heeled shoes as she walked on the cemented ground, faster and toward the female shopping boutique, to purchase the clothes that she would need to attend her best friend’s birthday party.
With the sun burning brightly on her beautiful yellow skin, Cindy frowned as she realized she had forgotten her umbrella in her car and couldn't walk back to get it.
Cindy sighed as she finally entered the shopping mall and exhaled, "Phew!"
She took out her whitehandkerchief from her red purse and wiped the sweat from her forehead before she returned her handkerchief to her red purse and looked around at the shopping boutique that she had entered.
Cindy was wearing a long white gown that hugged her body tightly and highlighted her simple feminine shape.
She attracted a lot of people’s attention as she was a pure epitome of beauty.
Zipping her red purse closed, Cindy looked around inside the shop that she had entered. A saleswoman finally walked up to meet her.
"Welcome, ma'am. What do you want to buy today?" the saleswoman asked Cindy.
"Let me see the types of dresses that you have for attending birthday parties," Cindy said.
"Okay, madam. This way, please," the saleswoman ushered Cindy to have a look at the collection of feminine wear that they sold.
Cindy followed the saleswoman slowly from behind, as she only stared at the sample of clothes and the other females doing their shopping in the boutique.
Cindy didn't touch any of the gowns she saw; she only stared at them and walked past with an expressionless face.
The saleswoman showed Cindy the collection of gowns they sold. She then stopped and finally asked Cindy, "Which length of gown do you want, madam—long or short?"
Cindy looked around again and replied, "I don’t know. What do you think will fit me? I mostly love to wear white."
The saleswoman gulped and replied with a smile, "I don't know, madam, but this white gown you’re wearing really looks pretty on you. Would you prefer another cute white gown like this, probably longer or shorter?"
Cindy exhaled. "Hmm. White is my favorite color, but I’m thinking of something different, like blue, yellow, or green gowns. What do you think?"
The saleswoman replied, "Let me check."
Cindy stood aside as she watched the young lady attending to her pull out different types of gowns—yellow, blue, red, and green—but none of the gowns seemed to interest Cindy.
Cindy frowned her pretty face, as she did not like any of the gowns that the saleswoman was showing her.
Not wanting to leave the shopping boutique rudely, as Cindy realized that she had wasted the saleswoman’s time, she finally asked, "Do you have any white suits? I love white suits too. Let me see the white suit that you have. I can probably choose that one, as the party is tomorrow and I need to look new, I guess."
"Okay," the saleswoman replied, as one thing her madam had trained her to do was to satisfy their customers first, with whatever the customer requested to see, no matter how their customers may reject most of the clothes they had.
"Can you wait here for me, madam? Let me go and bring the white suit. Or would you like to follow me over there to see it and try it on?" the saleswoman asked Cindy.
"Okay, let me follow you to see it," Cindy replied, and she followed the saleswoman.
They walked to another collection of clothes, and Cindy’s eyes finally fell on a beautiful white suit displayed on a mannequin.
Cindy loved the golden collar design of the white suit coat, which had only two front buttons and a white pencil trouser beneath.
"Wow!" gasped another lady who stood beside the white suit and was also admiring it, as the lady negotiated the price with another saleswoman attending to her.
Cindy loved the white suit immediately and wasted no time in pointing at the same white suit and saying to the saleswoman attending to her, "I want that suit. Package it for me; let me have it and leave."
The lady who initially wanted to buy the suit and was still negotiating its price stared at Cindy irritably, as she wanted to buy the suit too.
But the suit’s price was overly expensive—$10,000.
Yet Cindy came out from nowhere and wanted to purchase the suit.
The lady could see how arrogant and nonchalant Cindy looked, and she grimaced as she looked away from Cindy and to the saleswoman who was attending to her.
The lady asked the saleswoman, "Do you still have another white suit? I want to buy this particular suit, and it's just the price?"
"No, madam, we don’t have another suit, as this is the last piece left. Are you purchasing it now or not? We have another customer interested in purchasing it," the saleswoman kindly asked, but that didn't go over well with the other lady.
The lady's eyes narrowed at Cindy in anger. She opened her purse and calculated all the money she had available and her debit card through her phone. But it wasn’t enough to purchase the beautiful white suit.
Cindy stared at the saleswoman attending to her and asked, "What’s going on here? What’s taking you so long to package this white suit for me? I want to leave here. Or don’t you want to sell it to me? Do you want me to leave and go elsewhere?"
"No, ma'am, please wait, as this lady here actually wanted to buy this suit first, before you requested it," the saleswoman kindly explained to Cindy.
Cindy's eyes finally met the young lady's gaze, but Cindy looked away and said, "Then I'm out of here, as I cannot keep standing here waiting for you to finish up. Do you know who I am?"
The lady who couldn't purchase the suit due to her insufficient balance looked at Cindy with disdain, as she didn't like how Cindy was behaving arrogantly.
The lady immediately snapped at Cindy, "Who are you, by the way? Just because you're rich, you think you can oppress others? Do you know who I am too?"
Cindy’s jaw dropped as she looked at the lady but didn't respond; she noticed that the lady seemed a bit older than her.
Cindy shifted her gaze back to the saleswoman attending to her earlier and said, "Because I've wasted so much of your time today, I will give you only ten seconds to arrange this white suit for me, or else I will leave and go elsewhere to purchase it. But before that, let me see the jewelry you have."
The lady hissed loudly as Cindy ignored her. She knew that her money wasn't enough to purchase the expensive white suit.
The lady stared pleadingly at the saleswoman and asked, "Can I deposit this money for the white suit? Later, I will return to pick it up and complete the payment."
"I'm sorry, madam, but credit isn’t allowed here, or advanced p*****t either," replied the saleswoman.
"Why? I hope it's not because of that lady that you don't want to sell this beautiful white suit to me," the lady customer inquired.
"No, madam. Why wouldn't I sell it to you if my manager accepted credit or advance p*****t? You can check outside at our banner at the top, and you will see it boldly written at the door entrance: 'NO CREDITS ALLOWED HERE,'" the saleswoman kindly explained.
"Hmm... Alright, then it means I will come back some other time to purchase it. Or you can still help me speak to your manager about it, and buy another similar suit like this exact design and size. I will be back."
"Okay, madam. I will inform my manager about it," the second saleswoman spoke, while Cindy returned and asked, "Is my suit ready or not?"
The lady customer hissed and walked away angrily, subtly pushing Cindy aside as she walked out of the shopping boutique.
Cindy got startled but sighed and finally looked back at the two saleswomen, asking, "How much do I owe for all the items that I have bought here? The shoes, necklace, diamond earrings, bangles, and this suit?"
The initial saleswoman attending to Cindy earlier punched in the numbers on her calculator and calculated everything Cindy had bought from their store. She spoke, "That will be $50,000."
"Hmm, no discount?" Cindy asked as she used her debit card to pay for the items.
"No, madam. That’s the fixed price," the saleswoman replied with a smile.
"It is okay, package all of it; let me leave," Cindy said, and the saleswoman immediately packaged everything in a white plastic bag and handed it over to Cindy.
Cindy finally collected the bag and walked out of the shopping boutique, heading toward her car.
