For a while neither of them said anything. Her eyes seemed to draw in his gaze and hold it in place. They stared at each other without moving and he wondered why he was getting involved with a woman who didn’t know his name or any of his secrets, other than the one she was part of, but pretended she knew him better than anyone he had ever known. And he wondered why it was so easy to cheat on Lilly. He could feel his breathing speed up and become shallow and he could hear her breath doing the same thing.
