Kai entered the dining room with a stoic expression, his gaze sweeping over the table where his family was already seated and engrossed in their meal. The aroma of the main course filled the air, but Kai's appetite was non-existent. He exchanged brief nods of greeting as he made his way to his seat at the table.
His father's surprise was palpable, evident in the furrow of his brow as he spoke. "Kai, I see you've changed your mind to join us for dinner," he remarked, his eyes searching Kai's.
Kai's response was curt. "I could not miss the dinner tonight, especially after such an eventful day" he replied cryptically, his gaze unwavering as he turned to acknowledge his mother with a cold nod.
