Adelina Cortez's POV

"Lina?!" Carlos screamed from the living room. "What?!" I hollered back. "Someone named Kane messaged you!" I whipped my head around and dropped my curling iron on the floor as I ran as fast as I could to him.

"Give me!" I yelled and lunged for my phone.

My head snapped up and I looked around. I typed my response, sent it, then waited.

I placed my phone back on the island and sighed. The last few days were hectic. Sereia and I have became good friends. I still didn't know what the hell was going on in her life, but I felt it had something to do with the man she's marrying, which reminded me I needed to shop for a dress for the wedding.

How come Kane always sees me, but yet I never see him? I asked myself.

Maybe he's stalking? My inner Lina suggested.

Not now Lina. We need to find him.

I rolled my eyes and laughed when I noticed Carlos's expression. "Were you just conversing with yourself?" He asked in amusement.

"Shut up!" I said loudly and grabbed my phone again before running to my room. "We have a photo shoot at twelve!" Carlos yelled. "I'll be ready by then!" I yelled back, plopping down on my bed.

"Oh and Carlos!" I hollered. "What?" He asked, walking into my room. "You need to shop for an outfit. You're invited to Sereia's wedding also," I told him.

"b***h!" He yelled. "Why you didn't say something?!" He asked in annoyance. "I just did," I said with a smirk. He slapped my leg and I scowled at him.

"That hurt hooker!" I snapped and rubbed the spot on my leg that was burning. "You'll live," he said with a smile then pranced out of my room. "I hope you choke on a d**k!" I yelled and he laughed loudly.

I smiled at the door then jumped out of bed. I walked over to my closet and picked out a casual outfit to go out in, consisting of some skinny jeans, strappy sandals, and a tank top.

Once I dressed myself, I slid my phone into my back pocket, grabbed my keys, then headed out the door. "Meet you at the shoot!" I called out before the door closed all the way.

I hopped into my car and took a deep breath. Pulling out my phone from underneath me, I clicked on safari and searched Kane Augustus.

I pulled up my call log and typed in his number. I pressed call and waited for someone to answer. The bubbly background music made me chuckle, but I shut my mouth as soon as I heard the click.

"Hello, Augustus's LawFirm, Selene speaking. How may I help you?" A woman asked.

"Hello, Selene. Does Mr. Augustus have any openings today?" I asked with hope.

"Yes ma'am. Would you like to schedule an appointment for today?"

"Yes please. The sooner, the better."

"How about 9 o'clock?" She asked.

"That's fine. Thank you. Have a great day," I told her. "You too," she said before ending the call.

I glanced at the time and noticed it was already 8:45. "s**t," I mumbled and started my car quickly. I backed out the driveway and typed in the address on my gps.

A few minutes later, a building came into view with Augustus LawFirm on it and I smiled. I finally made it. "Here I come Mr. Augustus." I reapplied some lip gloss to my lips and smacked them, giving myself a once over.

After I fluffed my hair, I got out of my car and headed inside of the building. The cold air hit my skin and goosebumps arose on my body, causing me to shiver at the contact.

Should have brought a jacket, I mentally scolded myself. Entering the building, a bell chimed above my head and a woman looked up from the desk. "Hello, are you here for the 9 o'clock appointment?" The receptionist asked. "Yes," I told her.

"Please, have a seat. I'll see if Mr. Augustus is ready for you," she informed me before walking away. "Okay," I said with a smile.

Kane was in for a wake up call. All that teasing, and never showing his face to me had been driving me crazy. His secretary walked back into the area where I was seated and smiled.

"Right this way," she said and I stood up. My stomach started to tighten with nerves so I took some deep breaths while following her. Selene looked at me like I was crazy, but I just gave her a tight lipped smile.

"Everything will be fine," she whispered in a soothing voice. "Thanks," I whispered back to her and smiled. She opened the door and I stepped into the room, placing a sexy smile on my face.

Kane turned around and dropped the folder that was in his hands. "Adelina," he whispered and I smiled seductively. "Kane," I purred and walked over to him.

"Are you happy to see me? Or do you only like watching me from afar?" I asked once I was standing right in front of him.

"I'm -," he started to say, but I cut him off by pressing my lips against his. Fireworks exploded inside of me and I moaned against his lips. His arms snaked around my waist and pulled me closer to his body.

I pulled away and smirked. "See you soon, Kane," I said, mocking him, then walked out of the door.
