Chapter 7: Everyday Life (3)

After getting back home from a long day at work Bella was very tired. Unfortunately for her she wouldn’t be able to just sit back and relax, since there is an unwelcomed guest in her apartment.

“It’s so good to see you again~! How long has it been? Maybe a week since I helped you with your last case~ Good times~ Good times~ Right?” This pretentiously cheery tone was coming from the darkness of Bella’s apartment.

Not bothering to turn the lights on and simply closing the door behind her Bella spoke: “What do you want from me Andrea?”

“Heading straight to the point, are we~? I just came to see how you are~!” The female voice that was heard in the distance paused for a second. Then with a more rough and cynical tone asked: “Do I need a reason to be here?”

“Say whatever you want to say and leave.” Bella spoke in her indifferent and calm tone.

“Hahaha~! You really think you can kick me out? I wonder where you got that confidence from~” In the same cheery tone words of mockery could be heard loud and clear mixed in with laughter of an insane person. After another short pause she continued. “Maybe it’s because of that police officer~”

“Chase has nothing to do with this.” Bella instantly shot back as if she knew this was going to be a topic of conversation.

“I wouldn’t be so sure… He seems like a serious pain in the neck. Should I get rid of him for you~?” Andrea asked while radiating happiness with each word she said. Speaking of such a heavy topic with a cheerful voice like that, made her seem completely insane to Bella’s ears.

“Don’t touch him…” Bella was getting angry at the woman she spoke with. With the completely dark room the atmosphere seemed to be becoming even tenser.

“Ooo~ did I hit a nerve? HAHAHA! You like him, don’t you?” Andrea was having a grand time teasing the other.

“Just shut up…” Bella was losing her cool already. She hated the woman’s guts more than anything else in the world. She couldn’t stand her…

“Poor little Bella, you’ve been abandoned you’re entire life by others and now you’re starting to feel special because that police hound told you he cared for you~ How sweet.” The obvious tone of mockery and high pitched voice resonated in the entirety of the room. It was a sickening thing to hear aimed at you, yet Bella didn’t react she didn’t know how.

Right now the words she was hearing meant something but she was seeing white, her head aching, she was dizzy and unfocused…

“You seem to be in a bad mood~ Guess I’ll come back another time then~” Andrea said lastly then her voice was no longer heard.

Bella fell down to the ground holding her head with both hands. She couldn’t stand those words, Andrea was the person to come when you least expect her to and say the most hurtful things in your ears.

This wasn’t the first time, yet Andrea was gone for a long time so why did she come back now? Was it because of the latest case?

But what bothered Bella most was whether or not Chase was alright. Since Andrea left who knows if she didn’t go after him. Bella took out her phone with her hands shaking, she called Chase.

“Yes, Bella?” he answered from the other end of the line, but somehow Bella’s strength was all gone and she wasn’t able to answer.

“Bella? Are you okay?” Chase was becoming worried at not hearing a response from the woman that called him.

“Where are you?” He asked and there was still no response. Bella fainted after hearing those last words and remembers nothing afterwards...
