Chapter 17: Hospital (2)
While Bella was still asleep Chase had been spending a lot of his time asking Rose about her friend at every opportunity he had. He didn’t end up finding anything too significant but one thing that rose said had especially stood out to him:
“People think of her as a cold-blooded and indifferent person, but she is far more human than anyone else. So fragile inside, that if you were ever to show her affection she might break… That’s why she will go through high lengths to avoid becoming attached to anyone. Only ever relying on herself…”
That in itself meant that no one had shown her affection and that Bella hadn’t relied on anyone else before. It made Chase wonder just a little bit whether or not he was special to the woman.
He didn’t want to overuse his stay
