Chapter 19

Jacob’s P.O.V I watched as Renesmee nestled in the arms of the blonde woman, her tiny fingers wrapping around the woman’s golden locks. When I saw them, Bella and the Cullens competed in an arm-wrestling match. I couldn’t help but laugh at how Bella outsmarted Emmett in the game. I looked back and noticed Rosalie approaching me. “Dog, will take Renesmee for me? I have to go,” Rosalie asked. “Huh, sure,” I said. I cradled Renesmee in my arms and approached the couch, sinking into its soft cushions. Her adorable charm captivated me when I looked at her. As Renesmee looked at me, her smile radiated warmth and joy. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it, but there was an undeniable connection every time our eyes met. I can feel it, a shiver running down my spine. As Edward and Bella walked in, I couldn’t help but notice the radiant smiles lighting up their faces. “Hey, Bella. Rosalie asked me to hold her,” I explained. “Oh, it’s okay. It’s not like you’re going to hurt her.” I nodded, a small smile playing on my lips. I held Renesmee a little longer, taking in every detail of her delicate features. Renesmee let out a sweet coo, melting my heart with its adorable sound. Her long, flowing hair and innocent gaze resembled Bella when she was still a human. “Okay, that’s enough, you and her time. Can I hold her?” Bella asked, getting jealous. I chuckled. “Yes,” I responded. I handed her Renesmee. Then I noticed she did not smile as Bella placed her in her arms. Overwhelmed with emotions, tears streamed down her face. “Hey, Jake, what did you do to her?” Bella asked, sounding worried. “Nothing, I held her, that’s all.” “Well, there’s got to be something because she’s crying in my arms after you held her.” I paused, deep in thought. Was it possible that the bond I shared with Renesmee was the reason? But, to her disbelief, it cannot be accurate. I was sure that she couldn’t be my imprintee. I had to make something up. Bella’s eyes widened as she observed my face and spoke. “Wait, you couldn’t have imprinted.” “It might be my body temperature. You used to love my warmth,” I fibbed. “Yeah, that could be it.” “Let me test it. See if Renesmee smiled if you held her again.” “Okay.” Bella passed Renesmee into my waiting arms, her touch warm and reassuring. As soon as Renesmee was in my arms, her cries ceased, and a radiant smile spread across her face. A collective gasp escaped our lips as we both turned to look at her in astonishment. “She might like you. Everyone adores you, Jacob,” Bella remarked. I smiled, handed her to Renesmee, and then Edward entered. “What’s happening?” he inquired. “Renesmee likes Jacob,” Bella said, chuckling, revealing nothing more. “How?” “It could be his body temperature, but we don’t know.” Edward’s scowl deepened as he nodded, unsettling me. Realizing he knew my thoughts, I avoided his gaze, turning to Bella. “Time for me to leave,” I announced, rising from my seat. I headed to the stairs. Bella glanced at me, curious. “Where are you off to?” she inquired. “I’m going home, of course,” I responded. “Do you have a pack to go to now?” “Yeah.” “Also, Jake, don’t forget to tell Sam I passed the test seeing my dad.” “Oh yeah, I’ll tell him.” “Well, bye, Jake,” Bella’s P.O.V When Jacob left, I handed Renesmee to Edward. I then headed to the kitchen to get animal blood for her, and Rosalie greeted me, “Hey, Bella.” I said “hi” while taking the bottle from the fridge and shutting it. Rosalie mentioned, “I heard something was up with Renesmee.” “There isn’t anything wrong with her; she likes Jacob,” I said. “Or because she’s growing so fast, she has feelings for him.” “Possibly, but she’s too young to have those feelings.” Rosalie nodded. “Well, I have to go feed Renesmee. We can talk later.” I said. “Alright,” Rosalie said. Entering the room, I spotted Edward holding Renesmee. “I have blood,” I mentioned. “Great,” Edward said. Edward took the blood and fed it to her. “I must leave for a hunt,” I declared. “Okay, see you later,” Edward said. I approached the door, eager to step outside and feel the sun’s warmth on my skin. I sprinted toward the woods, so everything around me became a hazy blur. I stopped and heard a howl. Turning around, Seth was behind me. “Oh, hi, Seth,” I greeted. “Hi, Bella,” “Why are you here? Where’s Jacob?” “He’s at home. He wanted me to tell you he told Sam.” “Okay, well, thank you for letting me know.” “You’re welcome.” “Well, I have to go. I’ll talk to you later.” “Okay, bye, Bella.” “Bye.”
