Chapter 17

372 Words
Bella’s P.O.V While watching this boring football game, I heard a motorcycle pull up. I went to see who it was. It was Jacob. My mind raced with curiosity as I wondered why he had come. I thought he was mad at me. He walked to the front door, and I bolted the stairs to answer it. As soon as I got to the door, I opened it. “What’s up, Jacob?” I inquired. Jacob looked concerned. “There’s something I must tell you,” he said. Edward peered down from upstairs. “About what?” he inquired. “Come in, Jake. Tell us outside on the patio.” I said, closing the door behind him. We headed upstairs and walked outside to the patio. “What do you need to tell us?” I inquired. “Well, I told the secret to your dad,” Jacob responded. “What? You told my dad that I am a vampire?” “No, I only told him you were different and still alive. I told him my secret.” “Why did you do that?” “I didn’t know what to say.” “Why didn’t you keep your mouth shut? It would have been easier.” “I solved a problem, and you were leaving.” “We’ve got a half-human, half-vampire kid. How do you expect us to explain that?” Edward asked. “He won’t let this go. He’ll want to know what’s wrong with me,” I explained. Jacob believed my life would be happier with Charlie. Charlie had endured immense hardships. “Jacob, you’re not fooling anyone but yourself,” Edward remarked. “I’m sorry you feel that way, because he will be here in ten minutes.” “What. Why didn’t you try to stop Charlie?” I asked, rushing back inside and heading into the kitchen. “I tried. Charlie wouldn’t stop,” Jacob responded. Edward was beside me when I grabbed my bag from the counter, searching for my contacts. “You got the contacts, right?” Edward asked. “Yeah,” I responded. “Good.” “I’ll be in the bathroom.” I grabbed the contacts and dashed into the bathroom.
