Chapter 3: An Awkward ChoiceAnne took a heavy step up to the last step. She was finally home! She unlocked the door. As she opened it, a cup flew over. With a bang, it hit the door and smashed. Her father and stepmother were quarreling again. "You i***t, you actually used our house as a guarantee. It's our home. Why don't you sell your daughter? The house is for my son and his future wife," Jenny Chester said in a sharp voice. Anne stopped upon hearing that. Since her mother died and her father married Jenny Chester, she was scolded every time they quarreled. Even if she stayed in her dorm, Jenny would call and scold her. Was it necessary for her to return to such a family? "Anne is back." Garrett looked up and saw Anne. "Heh, you didn't come back last night. Anne, where did you go to fool around?" Jenny asked. Anne lowered her head and walked into her room. "I'm here to get something. I'll be leaving soon." "Why do you look so pale, Anne?" Garrett followed her and asked with concern. Even though Garrett was good to Anne, he did whatever Jenny told him. Anne was very helpless. She turned to look at him and whispered, "I'm fine." "That's good..." Garrett rubbed his hands in embarrassment. He looked at her and said, "How's your work?" "Good." Anne nodded. She pulled out a suitcase and started packing up her clothes. She was going to stay in her dorm for a few days. "You're still in the mood to chat? Get the money back!" Jenny scolded again. "How much?" Anne couldn't help but ask. "1.7 million... For my friend, Mr. Blue..." Garrett said. "What?" "You still have the nerve to say that? It's usurious!" Jenny collapsed on the floor and started to cry. "Oh my god, how can I live like this? My husband is good-for-nothing and I have to help him take care of his bastard!" "Hey, what do you mean by bastard?" Anne couldn't help but rush out to ask her. "You are the bastard!" Jenny glared at her and yelled like a shrew. Garrett was anxious. He rushed out to cover her mouth and scolded, "Are you crazy? Cut it out." "Dad, I'm leaving." Anne hurriedly picked up her suitcase and ran away. "Anne." Garrett chased after her for a few steps before he was stopped by Jenny. "Where are you going? If you don't get the money back, I will die in front of you. I will sell that bastard to those people." Anne covered her ears and ran faster. She was really desperate. Tony Foster had betrayed her. She could not stay at home. Moreover, she was r***d by a strange man! The world was so big, but there was no place for her now. She stood still on the street for a while and got on the bus to LP Magazine. At least, she had to keep her job. As long as she could become a regular employee, her life would be somewhat stable. ... As soon as she stepped into LP Magazine, Anne heard whispers all around her. She braced herself to enter her superior Sally Smith's office. Before she could speak, a stack of papers flew over. "Anne, why did you come so late? Why didn't you turn on your phone? Where did you go?" Sally Smith asked her angrily. "Last night, I went to take..." Before she could finish her words, Anne suddenly saw Yvonne Yoda coming in. "Yvonne Yoda?" Her face turned pale as she recalled what had happened the night before. "Ms. Yoda is now working with us. She wants you, so you will report to her from now on." Sally frowned and said coldly. "What?" Anne exclaimed. She had to report to Yvonne Yoda? "Miss Green, you're the most promising newcomer this year. I hope we can work together happily." Yvonne reached out her hand and said with a charming smile. Anne felt as uncomfortable as if she had swallowed a fly. Yvonne had stolen Anne's boyfriend, and now she wanted to work with Anne... Anne decided to say no! "I believe you will. Anne, pack up now and go with her." Sally threw the papers onto her desk and said sullenly. Sally must have misunderstood, thinking that she didn't take photos according to plan and started to support Yvonne instead. Did she need to resign now? It took her a lot of effort to get an internship here. She had been doing well, and if she worked harder, she could become a regular worker. She didn't want to lose such a good job! Moreover, she had no evidence of the affair between Yvonne and Tony. It would only embarrass her if she fell out with Yvonne. No, she would not give up. She wanted Tony and Yvonne to show their true colors. Anne packed up her stuff silently. Then she walked back to Sally and explained in a low voice, "Ms. Smith, you got me wrong..." "Alright, there's no need to explain. Anyway, there won't be a day when you can stand out." Sally didn't even raise her head as she spoke glumly. "I'll prove it to you." Anne bit her lip and went out with her stuff. "Let's have lunch together, Anne. This place is new to me. Can you show me around?" Yvonne took some of her stuff and said. Chapter 4: In the Elevator with HimYvonne was really good at that! It was obvious that she wanted others to think that Anne had been working for her! Anne looked at her silently and held back her anger, thinking about how to fight back. Their office was at the end of the corridor. There were already five colleagues waiting for them. Anne was the least experienced and still an intern. She usually served tea and ran errands for others. She could be kicked out at any time. "Sit here." Yvonne pointed to a desk in the corner. Then she clapped her hands and said loudly, "Everyone, we specialize in interviewing big shots in the business world. Let's make our column the most influential in the country. I will write this time. From next week on, each of you must submit a plan to me. It must be an interview with a business tycoon." Where could Anne go to interview a business tycoon? Yvonne just wanted to force her to leave. "Anne, come with me later. You are still inexperienced and don't know many people. I'll take you to interview the most dazzling man in the city!" Yvonne put her hand on Anne's shoulder and pretended to be kind. "Okay..." Anne said reluctantly. Her heart throbbed with pain! Tony cheated on her with such a woman! He treated her like a maid. "Well, let's go to work." Yvonne took Anne's arm, and said affectionately, "Let's go. It's very difficult to arrange an appointment with Mr. Landon." Anne pretended to get her stuff and shook Yvonne's hand off. Yvonne curled her lips into a mocking smile. She placed two large paper bags on Anne's desk and quickly walked out. "Take them. I'll go get the car." Anne looked at Yvonne. She carried her backpack on her back and picked up the heavy bags and followed Yvonne out. In the bags, there was a notebook computer, a single-lens reflex camera, a makeup bag, leather shoes, clothes... Damn it, did she think she was a star? Anne wanted to throw them into the toilet! Yvonne was driving a white BMW. Anne sat in the back seat and put down the bags. She saw a coat, which was Tony's! She looked up at Yvonne and suddenly understood that Yvonne was trying to let her know about her relationship with Tony! Anne just pretended that she didn't recognize the coat. She wanted to see what Yvonne would do next! She held back her heartache and madness, pretending to play games on her phone. "Anne, you're graduating this year, right?" Yvonne was a little disappointed, so she asked Anne in a low voice. "Oh, that's right." Anne nodded. Yvonne looked at Anne in the rearview mirror with jealousy in her eyes. Anne was a beautiful girl with a chubby face and charming eyes. She was quite popular among boys, and Tony Foster was also fascinated by her... Nevertheless, Tony was not able to sleep with Anne after trying for over a year. Therefore, he could not resist cheating. Anne looked out of the window and felt a burst of sadness. "Ding..." Yvonne's phone rang. Yvonne looked at it. She put on her headset, and spoke softly. "Dear, I'm with Anne... Why would I lie to you? Come on, kiss me..." Anne held her phone tightly, and her head was almost buried in the bags. Of course, she knew who Yvonne was talking to! She knew that Yvonne did it on purpose! "Hold it! Hold it! I must hold it back, and then I will teach them a big lesson!" "Well, come to my place at night. I'll wear the gauze nightdress you bought for me, and I promise to make you comfortable..." Yvonne pretended to be shy and looked in the rearview mirror. Seeing what Anne was like now, she curled her lips in disdain. "What's wrong, Anne?" "I'm embarrassed to hear that. Is that your boyfriend?" Anne raised her head and squeezed out an innocent smile. "Yes, he is my boyfriend. We are going to get married." Yvonne looked in the rearview mirror and added, "Do you have a boyfriend?" "Yes," Anne said with a sweet smile. "He says I'm the most beautiful girl, and we're getting married as well. He has already found a wedding dress for me, and we have decided on a good place to live." Yvonne's smile disappeared and she snorted. Anne thought secretly, "You're really good at pretending! You wanna show that you're in love? I'll show you as well! Tony hasn't mentioned breaking up yet. There must be a reason." Yvonne parked her car in the parking lot of the Howard Building. The Howard Building was a landmark of K City and the Howard Group was the wealthiest and most influential in the region. Yvonne came to interview Lenny Landon, the vice president of the Howard Group. She was indeed awesome at work! Under the guidance of the receptionist, they got into the elevator. When the door was about to close, a group of people strode in. Anne's mind went blank when her eyes met the sharp eyes of a man. It was the man who forced her into a fake marriage... Why was he here?
