Adeline knew she had to move fast. Three of them had raced off after the stranger, but two more lingered behind the church, believing they expected her to make her escape in the same direction as the stranger. She doubled-back her way around the far side of the church, moving with an easy, fluid gait. She came up behind them as they were steadily and carefully making their way into the first narrow street adjacent to where she’d left the boy. The boy Dull Blade had so mercilessly killed.
