Duties of the Alpha

1079 Words
With Teny gone, I resume my pacing the floor, right now, I can't think of any other thing apart from the thought of losing my pack to someone who wasn't there when my pack was almost going extinct. Why will he suddenly want to take over my pack? It's not as if he doesn't have more packs under him. Why choose to take a small, insignificant pack like mine? Not only is he after my pack, but he intends to be the Alpha. He wants the position for himself. Just how can I allow that? How can I just sit, fold my arms, and watch someone take over from me? It's Just not possible for me to allow someone like him take over from me. An old man like him shouldn't put his head in stuffs that doesn't concern him. A person shouldn't reap where they didn't sow. It's not becoming of a good leader. He might have said something about making me the Beta, but I know better. He's Just saying that for saying’ sake. An Alpha can never be a Beta to an Alpha. The Tamer can't be tamed. * I only slept a wink that night before I rose to continue on with my daily work. Irrespective of the gloom, I can't neglect my duties to my people. As Their Alpha, it's my duty to take care of my people. Walking through the silent town, I smile proudly. I know am not the creator of this pack, but I contributed in making this town what it is now. Most of the houses have lights in them while the others doesn't. The pack house has three large buildings *One for the Alpha, and the other two for the singles* and the smaller family houses. The wolves who live in the two-large buildings are those who've not yet found their wolves. They're wolves ranging from the ages of 14-20. Should your age supersede that, the person will go on to the secluded part of the pack, and that's where they'll stay until they find their mates. Am in this category, and that's quite disturbing. Had I not being the Alpha, I would have been sent to the other secluded houses. I am almost twenty-one, and yet to find a mate. My pack members might not say anything to my face, but I know they're eager to have a Luna. The Alpha might be the solid rock of the pack, but the Luna is the pillar. She's the force that keeps the pack strong. “Good morning, Alpha!” One of the kids greets the moment she saw me, a goofy smile on her face. “Morning.” Currently, I am in the cleared part of the forest. This is the place where I teach the pups how to fight and defend themselves. In total, there are twenty kids here. “Good morning, Alpha!” The other greets. “Morning.” “How was your night?” “ It was great!” They all chorused as one. “ How was yours?” Marty asked. “It was okay.” I paced the floors until day break. “ Look Alpha, I can kick the hanny man!” With those words said, Katy ran towards the hanny man* it's a long tree that have thatch as its clothes. Something that's designed in such a way it looks like a human.* Taking a very deep breath, he kicks the hanny man, and the thatch scattered. “Wow!” I clap in Glee as the other children hurray in response. “ Come, give me a high claw.” I call him to me, and we both high-fived.” “ I can do the same thing, Alpha. I can kick off the Hanny man!” The other children jumped on Glee. “ I know you all can do that, but it's not what we're learning today. “ I say with a hint of mystery. “ What are we going to do today? Are we swimming across the river again?” Lola squeals. “ Yes, yes!” The others shout in happiness. “ No, we're not doing that. We're going to learn self-defense.” “Ahhh.” They frown as one. “ Can't we do that another day? Swimming sounds much better.” Katy blinks. It's as if she's trying to get me to consider her request. “No, we can't. Today is self-defense.” I would have taken them up on their swimming wish, but I can't. With my mind elsewhere, I might not be able to fully focus on that. "I guess we can't change your mind today, can we?” Katy asked in a dejected tone. “ No, I don't think so. You, “I point to ten of the kids, “You're on defense while the rest are in offensive. Understood?” “ Yes Alpha!” They chorused. “ Now let's start on it!” “ Yes Alpha.” They all began practicing on what I taught them. The girls, especially Katy, seem to know the drill more than the boys. Being on the offensive helped them a lot. “Ouch.” Katy fell on the floor. “Why did you hit me on my stomach? You're supposed to be on the defensive, not offensive.” She cries out. “I'm sorry.” The stupid boy approaches to help, momentarily giving her the opportunity to tackle him to the floor, and pounce on him. “Good tactics Katy.” I smile before my face morph into a frown. “It's a good approach, but you shouldn't rely on that. It's more like hitting below the belt.” * I supervise them as they continued on with their fight, the girls getting an upper hand in the fight. “Do I have boys or girls in this place?” I frown at the boys. “Why will you allow the girls to rule over you?” “ That's because they're sissies.” Katy laughs, and the other girls followed suit. It's more like followers supporting their leaders. “That's not true.” Kan, the leader of the boys, frowns at her. “It's true. We're by far stronger than you.” Katy stuck her tongue out at him. “ We're the leader, Alpha said so.” “That's not what the Alpha said. He said…." “It's okay, kids, let's get back to the task in hand.” “ Okay Alpha.”
