ASHK’S POV:
The skyscraper reaching sunward had me awed for once. Glancing at the glass and steel geometry of magnificence had me regret the decision I took. For once I was towing between the decisions to go forward or backward and the next my hands were around the metal handle on the giant glass door, trembling and fidgeting to move back.
“You have to do it, dear,” I murmured to myself as the crowd gathering around gave me a look that I have to move or else I will be crushed down under their feet. But that is how New York works, honey. I can’t blame them for not having patience.
“Sorry, I w...was just going,” I gave a smug look as my hands quickly wrapped hard around the metal frame and I pulled the handle back to get myself in. Crunching into the crowd I made my way to the reception counter as I tried to balance my sling bag on one side, my cell phone in my left hand, and the folder having my documents in my right one. Trying to weigh them off in balance, I huffily dumped my things on the counter as I took a breath or two, glancing at the slut in front. Calling her a slut doesn’t make me a good person but who can blame me. That slut. Oh sorry, the receptionist had her front three buttons open up to God knows where, but I bet if I slumped a little down to her side I could see her belly button through it. All so dressed in seductive check textured mini skirt, reaching up to her thighs and that nose ring, bloody bullocks, like she was here to do her job, which may be w*****g around. Sorry again for the foul language.
There she was a seductress and here I was all dragged down into a navy sleek skirt with a white V-neck blouse and a navy trench coat covering all that up. I was all so without makeup like a bland soup and there she was the spicy Mexican dinner. I was all so busy scrutinizing her sultriness that it took a snarky comment from her to jerk me out “When done checking me out tell me what you are here for,”
“Ahh, I a...am sorry. This blouse is just. Ummm, it looks amazing on your body or whatever,” I embarrassedly drooped my eyes down, as my lips curled into a nasty pout. As I gazed up again she gave me a showdown of her fake teethes as she raised her right brow and grasping the meaning of them I nodded my head as I asked “So, I just wanted to ask where I can meet Mr. Hannagan Montgomery. I have my interview scheduled for today,”
She glanced at the computer for once and then questioned “You are here for the job of assistant to the lead legal advisor?” and licking my chapped lips I nodded.
“Go up the elevator to the 57th floor. All the executives are on that floor. Take a left from the lobby and there you will find Mr. Montgomery. Perhaps maybe make an appointment to the salon first,” She replied as she grinned giving me all I had given in one sentence. My eyes popped out at her remarks as I curled my hand into a punch and then released it as I smiled and then replied “And maybe you can tell me where to w***e around after that, Miss Pretentious,” and stomped off gazing at the crowd laughing at my contemptuous remark. As I gazed through the thick crowd of the corporate world, my eyes glanced at someone all so distinguishable in the crowd. A man with eyes of steel grey hue. He grinned as he glanced at me for a second and then crossed me over to the elevator. Like I didn't matter or maybe someone else mattered so much that the rest of the world didn't.
I huffingly ran to the elevator that was about to close and before he could close the door, I grabbed the door as I made my way inside and then tried to settle myself alongside the walls. “Sorry for barging in. I was already getting late,” I apologetically spurted out as I gazed at the man in front. He turned his face to me as he said “It’s okay. You just reminded me of someone back there,"
I gazed at him to find strokes of sadness in those steel-grey eyes. For all, I could say that he was handsome and rich from the diamond-studded watch he showed off and the dimples that dipped inside his creamed skin. I struggled to speak as I, at last, did “Of whom I may ask, Sir? Not that I am interested. Just asking,”. A shimmer of something precious gleamed in his eyes as he replied “Someone I care of,” and that was when the door opened and I made my way out without even glancing back.
The lobby was like the usual, bland and never-ending. Keeping up the tabs of all turns, I took the first left, and there it was Mr. Montgomery’s office, a glass-walled office giving me a glance of him inside. There he was on the office chair, old and aged with time, experienced and witty. Sighing a little, I knocked gently and that same instant Mr. Montgomery glanced out and giving me a gentle smile, he invited me in. As soon as I got inside, he got up from his seat and welcomed me “Come Miss Ashk, I was waiting for you. It’s a pleasure to meet you,”
I gave him a gentle look too, looking into his small eyes behind the cover of his thick black frame glasses and replied “Pleasure is all mine,” I took a seat and he took him too and we continued with the general introduction.
As soon as it ended, he gave me a polite smile and uttered “We have gone through your documents before and this meeting is like a final stamp. I am the legal advisor for Rovaina Enterprise. The name is of course dedicated to our CEO’s mother. So I think we are done with the interview and the general introduction. Now you just have to go by the CEO’s office to finalize the process,”
“Where is the office by the way?” I asked softly as my grip tightened around my folder due to the anxiety growing inside. He glanced at the worrisome expressions and replied “You can just go out and by the end of this lobby, turn left again and by the end of that lobby there is only one room. You will notice it. It is quite distinguishable,” The smirk by the end of his sentence made me suspicious of the fact, why was it so distinguishable.
Nevertheless, I gave him a polite smile and stood up saying “Then I’ll take my leave. It will be a pleasure working for you,” and he nodded busying himself again in the pile of documents in front. I made my way out and following his instruction, walked to the end of the lobby, crushing myself within the crowd of a corporate sector and by the end of it there was a lobby to the left. The crowd was scarce there and every step I took made me more anxious than ever. As soon as the lobby ended, I was in front of a dark black metallic double door with large metallic handles on both doors.
Before I could knock, my mouth flung to my chin and my eyes squinted in disgust. My face turned sour as I tried to wrap my head around the voices coming from inside “What a pig, though?” I muttered. The voices were shrill with hints of groans in between like someone was having s*x inside. I wanted to turn around but a voice inside my head held me put. A voice that was there always telling me not to move back. A voice that indeed betrayed me but I won’t.
“You have to do it,” I exclaimed out loud, and then putting a hand to my mouth I knocked. The tension decreased as only the sound of my heavy breathing echoed outside and the next it was a question in what I could say an annoying voice “Who is it? I gulped my saliva as I hesitantly replied “It’s me, Ashk Harvey. I w…was here for the legal advisor's assistant job,” and after a pause and a little chitter-chatter for all I could hear from outside, I heard the thick voice again “Come in,”
Trying to push my palpitations aside, I nudged the door a little with my shoulder as I made my way inside. The interior was just exquisite but not up to my taste or liking. The floor all barren with marble glimmering under the natural fluorescent light steaming from the glass window, a large bookshelf on my right with a set of comfy sofas in front, and on my left was him behind a modern architectural styled table and on his right was the w***e from the reception.
He was indeed a masterpiece himself, a tall sturdy lad. A man of muscles and a man of play from all I could gauge from the naughtiness in his eyes and the scratches on his chest smirking from his half-done buttons. His eyes were a blue like of sky in summer morning and his hair was like a shade of blonde that was dirty and burned under the sun. He was the son of the sea from all I could witness. I could see his lips curling into a smile and I could glance at the biting of his lips as his hands traveled to his buttons and he caged them in tight loops, my eyes were moving alongside his sturdy hands, from his collar bone to his chiseled chest, for God knows what reasons. Until I heard his sarcastic snippet “Done looking at me, matey”
That was when I realized what I was doing all along. I was ogling like a perverted slut. I was not interested in him though, but it was just odd to find a CEO in his undies on the first day. But it was not anything else that mattered but the thing that mattered was that it was him. As I have known him and he has known me for a long time.
“I am sorry,” I apologetically gazed down as the receptionist moved past me, nudging me a little but little did I care I didn’t do anything. I kept staring at the grey and white marble until a voice jolted me out.
“Let the fun begin, Miss Ashk?” I heard him say as I glanced up and my lips chapped against each other as I asked "Excuse me?"
"Come in ya or should I," I should have known better before intervening in the devil's den.
Who is the man with the grey eyes? I think we all know the answer to that.
Comment down if you know.
