Fate

Ivana was my father's first mate. Dazed, I got out of the bed, my body sore. Heading to the bathroom looking for a bathrobe to put on, I did everything not to wake my tormentor. I didn't want to stay another second in this place, my bedroom was only a few steps away from Ivana's one. Back there I would be able to clean myself in peace. A quick glance in the mirror revealed the dried blood on my chin and inner thigh. I couldn't do anything about the bruises on my face and ribs and my arm was painful, but I could move around without too much difficulty. I grabbed a short white bathrobe and put it on before heading to the door. With a quick glance, I made sure no one was coming before moving as quickly as possible towards my room. Halfway there, a sweet smell of pine forest tickled my nose. "Fury? Is that you? - What the hell are you doing here?! - Are you okay? What's happened?" Duncan walked quickly towards me, pale and agitated. As for discretion, it was a failure. To make things worse, he was a outsider. If Ivana learned that he had seen me in this terrible state I was dead. I felt his gaze touch my slit lip and drop down to my thigh, where the bloody traces on it left very little doubt about what I had just gone through. He opened his mouth, but before the slightest sound could come out of it, I passed by him quickly on my way to my room. He held me by my wounded arm and I could not hold back a muffled whimper. "Fury, please tell me who did this to you? Is it your Luna? - Why do you care? - Just look at me." Trembling, emotions were rushing through me. Fear, shame, and anger were mixed. I felt such disgust for myself that I couldn't look up. My she-wolf tried to make me listen to him, to look at him. The Omega had gently released my painful arm and put his hands on my shoulders. "Please, I beg you..." He put a finger under my chin and gently lifted my face to his own. With my eyes closed, I could feel small sparks when he touched my skin. No one had ever treated me so gently before. His breath caressed my face, soothing the panicked beating of my heart. "Fury, please open your eyes, I must know... - What? - Please do as I ask, I implore you." I slowly opened my eyes and lost myself in his brown irises sprinkled with gold sparkles. So much sweetness in those eyes, it was almost unbearable. Suddenly, something exploded inside me. It was not nice little butterflies in the belly, no. It was fireworks, an explosion, a storm that raged through my heart and mind. And then the evidence. The one I thought I'd never meet, the one that had been created just for me, was there. I recognized him, he recognized me. My gravity center had moved away from the center of the Earth to settle in him. He leaned towards me like he wanted to kiss me and hesitated before he breathed a few trembling words to me. "You are so beautiful..." The spell broke and darkness invaded my heart. It was impossible, it could not be so. The goddess must have been crazy to give me such a mate. I was going to break him, I would make him dirty. He was too good, too sweet, and I was a bloodthirsty monster. No, that couldn't happen. It would never happen. Feeling my confusion, Duncan moved away slightly to take a better look at me. "Fury..." Suddenly, I slammed him to the wall, my good arm pressed against his throat. I saw red. He had to understand. He could not be nice, not to me. I didn't deserve him. The only things that awaited him with me was suffering and death. "Shut up! Don't call me, don't look at me, don't desire me. I don't exist and you're going to forget me, is that clear?" His wounded look tore my soul even more, but I didn't flinch. "You're going to go back to your pack and find yourself a nice little female. One who will be gentle, who will be loving and who will take care of your little ones. You don't need me. I, Fury, wolf-warrior of the Montana pack, I'm rej... - What's going on here!?" Alpha Isaac's voice exploded in the corridor. Disconcerted by his irruption, I gave him a dirty look before fleeing to my room and locking myself in. Leaving the best part of me behind, despair on my face, I said a silent farewell. "You almost rejected him! You were about to reject our love! He's perfect for us, I knew it! - Because you think we are perfect for him? We would destroy him, unless Ivana took care of him first. It's better for him that we are not in the picture. - But I..." My she-wolf interrupted herself in a wounded silence. She knew that if Ivana learned that I had a partner, she would have him executed on the spot, even if it meant starting a war. The torture she had put us through earlier spoke volumes about her madness and there was no way I was going to let Duncan pay for it. He wouldn't be just another innocent victim pinned to her macabre hunting grounds. Distraught, I headed to the bathroom to wash myself of the horror of the day. With a little luck, the water would take me away too. Clean, but with a heavy heart, I changed into my wolf and curled into a ball in a small corner of the room, my eyes fixed on the door. A few moments later, footsteps resounded in the corridor and stopped near my room. The broken voice of my Omega rose faintly. "I will not let you reject me, but don't worry, we leave tomorrow at dawn. I will wait for you, my she-wolf, I will wait for you forever. I don't want another, it's you I want. If you want to be freed from the chains that hold you here, be assured that my pack will welcome you with open arms and protect you. No one will ever hurt you again. Please think about it." The footsteps moved away and I closed my eyelids with a heavy heart.
