Reagan POV
I sat at my desk, staring at the maps before me. Each one was marked with the places we had searched, places we had hoped to find any trace of Jasmine. It had been nine years since she left the Royal Pack, almost ten, since she left the Royal Pack, and every day felt like a lifetime.
I must have been deep in my thoughts when I was startled by a phone call. It was one of the trackers telling me he had sent me a message and should look at it right away. So, I did. My heart began to pound as I opened it. There was a photo attached, taken from the internet. It looked like an advertisement for a hospital. There was a group of doctors, and one of them was named Dr. Jasmine. No last name. I zoomed in on the face, but it was already pixelated and unidentifiable. My breath caught in my throat. Could it be Jasmine? Could it be her?
Conri suddenly became active in my head. He had been quiet for so long, sharing my pain and frustration but rarely speaking. “Check it out,” he urged.
I hesitated for only a moment before heading out of the office. “Where are you going?” Dad called after me.
“There’s a lead,” I replied shortly. “I need to check it out.”
I went to my bedroom and quickly packed a few things. After which, I called Uncle Brandon and told him about the situation. He was out of the pack as of that moment. He would love to come with me, but if it was really Jasmine, he was afraid of what her reaction would be.
“I understand. I’ll keep you posted. By the way, I’m sorry to trouble you, Uncle Brandon, but can you arrange my trip to Viden City? I don’t have the number of the pilot.” As we had been flying a lot of times, I bought a private jet so we could save time. We no longer had to wait for the next flight going elsewhere.
“Okay, son. I will update you in ten minutes. Be careful and may the Moon Goddess bless you.”
It didn’t take long when the flight was arranged. With a couple of trackers with me, we were soon on our way to Viden City. If we had taken a car to go there, it would have taken us about ten hours. I was glad that it would only take us about fifty minutes using the private jet.
It didn’t take long when we landed at the airport. We immediately drove to the hospital using a rented car. When we arrived, I couldn’t contain myself, my hands trembled slightly. I had the trackers wait for me outside the building.
Inside the hospital, I made my way to the reception desk. “Excuse me,” I said. “I’m looking for Dr. Jasmine. I don’t have a last name, but as far as I know, she’s working here.”
The receptionist frowned, typing something into her computer. “We have several doctors named Jasmine,” she said after a moment. “Do you have any more information?”
I shook my head, frustration bubbling up. “No, that’s all I have.”
“Well, if you know her specialization, that will help,” she suggested.
“Right. Let me double-check on that information.” I took my phone from my pocket and showed the receptionist the photo on my phone. “Here. That’s her.”
“Hmm…I can’t identify her. I’m sorry,” the receptionist said.
She was not really being helpful at all. However, it was understandable. She couldn’t just give out information about anyone working in the hospital. However, I could use my alpha powers on her. I was not sure though if it would work on her, a human. There was no harm in trying though.
Flexing my charms and a bit of alpha aura, I smiled at the receptionist. “Ms. Gorgeous, perhaps you can tell me the departments where there are Dr. Jasmines, please? I’m not sure if she was in Emergency Care, Pediatrics, or OBG. I owed her money and I wanted to repay it immediately.”
The receptionist, aka Ms. Gorgeous, smiled up at me before turning immediately to the monitor in front of her. “There’s no Jasmine in Emergency Care, but there’s two in pediatrics and then one in OB-Gyne. Here are their rooms. You can go up and see if one of them is the Jasmine you are looking for.” She wrote the information on a piece of paper and then handed it to me.
I took the paper from her hand and smiled again at her. “Thank you so much, Ms. Gorgeous. You are really helpful. Have a great day!” I winked at her, leaving her smiling from ear to ear.
There were only three people to look for and I was glad that it wouldn’t take much of my time. I started with the OBG department, which was on the third floor. Dr. Jasmine went out, but it was not her. I apologized profusely before I moved to the fourth floor. I heard footsteps, but then I already knew it was not her. She was not my Jas-mine. Her scent was different.
“Hi. I’m Dr. Jasmine. How may I help you, sir?” she asked with a tired smile.
“Oh, I’m sorry. It was a mistake. I’m looking for the other Dr. Jasmine,” I said apologetically.
“I’m sorry, but she’s not here. I haven’t actually seen her around for a few days. She’s probably out at a conference. I couldn’t say, her secretary is also not here. Is there anything I can help you with?” She asked again.
“I’ll just come back again. Thank you so much.”
I left the hall and walked to where the elevators were. Conri was silent, his disappointment mirroring my own. We thought we would already see Jasmine. However, all is not lost. That Jasmine might be the Jasmine we were looking for.
Just as I was about to leave the hospital, I heard a voice behind me. “Alpha. Alpha Reagan.”
I turned around to see one of the trackers I brought with me. “I think I found something,” he said, holding out his phone. “Look at this. I saw this outside on one of the walls.”
I took the phone from him, my hands trembling. It was another photo, clearer this time. It was her. It had to be, even if she wore shorter hair and wore eyeglasses. She couldn’t fool me.
“Where is she?” I demanded.
“I asked and was told she was at a conference,” the tracker replied. “I can give you the details.”
I nodded as my heart raced. “Give me everything you have.”
