Cell

1008 Words
Megg's POV I know as an alpha, I'm suppose to be strong and brave. However, I feel nothing but weak and confused. I link my beta to let him know that I'll be staying an extra night. Hopefully. I leave out the part of being locked away.  I'm in a cell next to two rough looking guys. It seems like someone beat the s**t out of them. "What are you looking at, mutt?" The one shouts at me. I don't answer him though and just turn around. "QUIET!" One of the guards yells at the man.  Why are we here? I ask my wolf to see if she knew. Now that Alex is part of this pack, I can't link him to ask. Ugh.  How did I go from being a bridesmaid and best woman, to being a prisoner all in one day? Something is not right and I wish I knew what. Sitting on the floor in a corner, I pull my knees to my chest and sob. I don't want to be in here. I just want to go home.  "Megg?" I jerk my head up so fast that my eyes blur for a moment.  "Queen Alice!" She places a finger to her lips. "No need for shouting." I watch as she pulls a wooden stool in front of the cell I'm in and takes a seat.  "Today was meant to be the happiest day for my sister and brother. Instead of celebrating, I am in here, talking with you. I sent Landon back to the castle since we have a kingdom to run, but I couldn't go back yet. Not until I get some answers from you and know that my sister is safe." What is she talking about? I c**k my head to the side in confusion.  "I-I don't understand what you're talking about. Safe from what? I thought Chris already killed the hunter who shot her?" This seems to piss her off. She stands immediately, knocking over the stool.  "Don't play dumb with me, Megg. Why did you send these two after Violet?" She asks, pointing a finger to the men in the cell next to mine.  "I never did such a thing! I don't even know who those guys are! I've never seen them before I got thrown in here!" Now I'm the one getting pissed off. How could she accuse me of such a thing. Violet is my best friend! I watch as the queen looks at the men. "Tell me the truth, is this the woman you met and talked with?" She asked and they both nod their heads. "Use your words!" She shouts at them. "Yes, that's Megg." I gasp loudly. "How do you know my name?" I ask and they just stare at me. "If we are going down for this, so are you." The one sneered at me.  "A burner phone that was used to call these hunters was traced to someone belonging in your pack. As you see, Landon and I had to rough these two up to get information out of them. They claim they met with a woman named Megg who fits your description perfectly."  "They're lying! Alice! I would never want to hurt Violet. I love her as if she was my sister! There has got to be another explanation!"  Grabbing the stool, she puts it back upright and sits once again. "For Violet's sake, I want to believe you. My wolf is telling me to trust you, but the evidence is stacked against you." I begin to feel the tears flow out. They're going to kill me for something I didn't do.  "Relax. We're not going to kill you. If anything, you will get a lifetime of living in this cell." I honestly think that would be worse than death.  "Please, help me. There has got to be a way to prove I'm innocent." I beg of her.  She remains silent as she thinks.  "Can you think of anyone who would want you dead?" She asks, and I have to actually think about it. Is there? "I-I don't know. I've been alpha for less than a year, but everyone in the pack seems happy with me as their leader."  "Wait! The phone. If you find the phone that's at my pack, wouldn't the fingerprints of whoever it belongs to be on it?" I desperately ask. I watch she she smirks at me.  "Good thinking. I suppose a visit to your pack is in order for tomorrow morning. Don't think about giving them a heads up." She slides a water bottle in between the bars. "Drink this. Now." Opening the cap, I can smell the wolfsbane in it. "It's just enough to prevent you from linking anyone. Like I said, I'm not going to kill you."  I knew she wouldn't leave until I drank all of it. I am pretty thirsty, so I chug the entire thing in one gulp. Cringing as I feel link become a haze and feel no connection to my pack. She may not trust me, but I trust her. I know Alice won't kill me.  "Well done, Megg. Get some sleep. I will report back tomorrow evening to chat after my visit with Full Moon." I am at a lost for words, so I just nod my head.  "Oh! One more thing." She turns around and walks back to the cells. "Open the door." She demands the guard and he obeys. I watch as she walks in and literally tears the hearts out of the men in one swift motion.  She licks her bloody hands as she walks back out. "Goodnight!" She smiles and waves to me and the guards. Now more than ever, I do not want to be on her bad side. She's the f*****g queen and can do anything she wants. She's also my friend and I know she only causes harm to those who deserve it, like those two assholes.  Taking a deep breath, I lay on the small cot and attempt to sleep.
