Candle In The Wind

Chapter 4*Inevitable Truth*

It's been 3weeks since Maha has been brought in, to the hospital,and she has been in and out of consciousness a few times, each time asking for the whereabouts of her parents and younger brother, Michael and the Blonde nurse assigned to Maha had been able to lie to cover up the truth whenever she had asked and always tried to keep her mind occupied by sharing different childlike stories with her till she goes unconscious again. Always had Maha sleep with a wide smile on her face, guilt did eat them up whenever they thought   about the lies they fed the little girl, but none out of both parties was courageous enough to break the little girls heart.

As the saying goes nothing can be hidden under the sun, in her unconscious state maha had experience a terrible Dream that proved too good to be just a dream, plainly stating fragments of the night of the shipwreck played in motion in her head, bringing back the Same dreadful feeling she felt that night, jolting up from her hospital Bed, she screamed at the top of her lungs for her mom and dad, arms wrapped around her body as she rocked back and fought crying for her parents,

Her gultry screams reach the ears of Michael who was few feet away from the door flirting with the blonde nurse, together they raced back to maha's room, unsure of what her gotten her so scared, they barged into the room Michael ready to beat up the intruder who had dare to scare  little Maha, but the sight before their eyes left them struck with confusion, no one was making her scream,  what could have gotten her so scared,  Michael moved closer to the bed with caution to avoid riling up her emotions more, with great carefulness he slowed raised his leg placing himself on the edge of the bed, careful not to get too close to the girl.

Making his voice as gentle as he could, he had asked Maha what had made her woken up in scream, and the response Maha had given him was the fact that she couldn't find her mama, papa and brother in her dream, somewhere at the back of her mind little Maha knew she won't be seeing her family again and her brain couldn't process why so she asked Michael in between sobs, wanting to know if she was ever going to see her family again, Michael was torn inbetween telling her the truth or scheming up another lie,..

But then he realized lying to her all this while was doing her no good, because eventually she would have been exposed to the truth and it would cause her more pain knowing she was being lied to all this time, so Michael decided it was best to tell her the truth, because no time will ever be the right time to tell the 11year old about it.. Michael owned to truth, telling Maha about the news of the shipwreck and how the rescue team had found her and 2 other at the shores of the sea, confused between telling maha that her mom and brother were still missing or telling her all her family had died, he resolved into telling her the rest if her family was dead, telling her about the 2 missing member of her family could give her false hope, they might be dead and probably eaten by sharks, he saved her the pains of having false hopes and told her about the death of the rest of her family. And how they're waiting for her to gain consciousness so the relatives would come for her..

The information was too much for the little girls brain to comprehend , she had cried and cried, fragments of the memories of her happy family flashed through her mind, what pained her most was the fact that she couldn't even place the face of them, the harder Maha tried to remember what her mother looked like the harder it was to place the face, she tried with that of her brother the only thing that stuck in her head was the sound of his cute giggles and laughs when they ran around the house, the deep soothing voice of her dad played on repeat in her head, and the voice of her mama singing then lullaby to sleep stucked in, but Maha couldn't remember any of their faces what they looked like.

What can possibly hurt more than loosing the people that meant the world to you and be unable to picture their face, Maha willed her brain to give her a picture of what her mama, papa and brother look like but all brain processed to her was a faceless body running and laughing around, the stress getting too much for her little brain, slowly drained of any strength left and she fell on the bed unconscious trying to remember the faces of her family.. Michael gently tucked her in, caressing her cheek gently, a few tear slipped down his face as he caress her cheeks, the blonde nurse wiped her teary eyes with the back of her hands and proceeded to administer medications to the Sleeping girl, none of them said a word to the other has they relived in the sadness and pain Maha must he going through.
