Chapter 3*in and out*

Fortunately for Micheal, Maha was fast asleep when he came back in with the nurse, and he was beyond relieved, thank the heavens for saving his lying ass, it was more difficult to lie to the poor girl for him, although he felt compelled to tell her the truth, he wasn't quite sure how she would take it, what if her little heart can't endure the loss and she goes into shock, that would be more devasting, she is been through a lot, might as well avoid the inevitable for as long as he can, but for now if lying to her would make her smile and laugh for the time being before she learns about her family, the he his willing to keep it up, till her relatives comes for her..........

It would be easier on her if she has other family members to console her he thought, paying close attention to the nurse attending to Maha, he noticed the faint bruises on maha's arm, guess that's why she said her arm hurts he thought to himself, might as well tell the nurse about it..

"how is she doing?," he asked the blonde nurse

"Her vitals are stable for now, it's a surprise she woke up this early though.... , seeing as she isn't fully recovered,there is a tendency that she will be in and out of consciousness for the next few days, but that's no cause for alarm, it is to be expected, all her organs seems to be working fine so that's a good sign"   the nurse replied explaining maha's current condition to

Micheal...

Oh that's a relief michael thought within himself, don't get him wrong, he wishes her quick recovery, but her being in and out of consciousness would save him the self guilt of having to lie for the next few days which is a good thing on his on part, might as well cook up a better lie before she gains full consciousness because the little girl is sure as hell going to demand for her parents when she wakes up again..

"OK that's good news I guess, she complained of feeling pains earlier when she woke up, you know, maybe you could give her some pain relief or something don't know how you are going to do that though seeing as she is asleep, just a suggestion" He informed the nurse scracthing the back of his neck awkwardly..

" ok, thanks for informing me I'll just inject it, she doesn't need to swallow any pills, I'll go get it "   She replied, gathering her tools, notepad and exiting the room.

Micheal gingerly sat on the edge of the bed running his hand through the little ones hair,  thinking about how cruel life is for putting such a beautiful little thing through so much pain at this tender age, he knows what it is like to loose a loved one, but loosing the people that means a lot to you at a tender age isn't something an 11year old needs to experience, especially not an innocent looking beauty like hers...

He wished he was financially stable enough, he would have requested custody and permit to adopt the precious little girl, but he is no better than a church rat, feeding from the crumbs of the altar, he has lived half of his life alone, with no family, and it wasn't easy trying to live a responsible life without parents or anyone to offer you financial support can be frustrating, but he had managed to graduate high school and college finally getting accepted to his dream job, this is first month at work, he doesn't even have 10dollars in his bank account, how can he provide for her, ruling out the idea of adopting Maha, she would live a more better life with her relatives he finally concluded within himself..

Humming a silent lullaby to the Sleeping Beauty, so lost in his thoughts, not sensing the presence of the nurse in the room until she spoke,

"sorry to interrupt, but if you would excuse me, I would like to administer the pain relief" michael jumped up startled by the sudden closeness of the nurse, he scrambled to the other side of the room, making the nurse laugh inwardly at his awkward behavior, she gently raised the sleeve of Maha hospital gown, injecting the pain relief,..

" keep a close eye on her, in case she wakes up, just press the red button by the side of the bed and I'll be here for her okay," the blonde nurse instructed, smiling at Michael.

"o... OK.. I  will," Michael stuttered feeling uncomfortable with the way the blonde nurse was grinning at him.

" alright then I'll take my leave, got other patients to attend to, I'll be back during lunch break, anything you want me to get you, seeing as you won't have time to go out for lunch"

OK that's awkward Michael thought, seems she is flirting with him, and Michael for being Michael can be plainly dumb around women, so he shook his head indicating no.  Earning another sweet laugh from the nurse, before she left him to his stupidity. Not that she thinks he is stupid anyway,. Michael deciding to sit on the Arm chair besides maha's bed to keep a close eye on her as instructed by the nurse, hoping her relatives shows up OK time............
