Almost Killed

930 Words
Laura* On a bench in the garden, staring at the sky, admiring the beauty, and wishing everything could go back to normal. I never wished to be part of the mystic world, but I knew from the time I met Zack that everything could never be normal. Now that I have been announced as the heir to the vampire throne, I just hope nothing falls apart. I was wishing for a better outcome when I heard laughter from behind me. "Isn't it the illegitimate heir?" "What might your highness be doing here all by herself?" Oh no! Kira stated as she sat down next to me on the bench, "I see you aren't used to the vampire world." "You are indeed a pitiful human." Her short, dark hair, similar to her mother's Serena, is nicely styled. She had a pale, fair complexion... I thought she wasn't particularly attractive. "You're Kira... I can tell from the way you speak that you're like your mother... What do you want here? I replied, glancing sideways. I remarked, my gaze falling on hers. I immediately stood up when I noticed a massive man on the bench with his face hidden, looking in her direction; the big guy was staring at me. Kira conversed with him in hushed tones. As I moved back, I tripped and collided with a plant, causing me to bleed. I groaned. The cuts were all deep and stinging, and I wanted to stand up, but the masked man was holding my leg. Something had to be done, I thought. Jace* After the incident with the heiress in my master's room today, I decided to relax and grin before closing my eyes. When the clock hit midnight, I awoke apprehensive, as if something horrible was about to occur. I jumped out of bed, shirtless, and went to Laura's room to see whether she was okay, or if I had simply missed her and awoken. I knocked on her door but no one replied; I believed she was sleeping but didn't want to wake her up. When I returned to my room, I noticed Arisha, her maid... "What's wrong?" I asked, hurriedly. "Laura, she is missing... and I have been searching for her since past 8 p.m. and all has been in vain," she sobbed. I was terrified and angry, and I walked away without saying anything, but I could feel her following me. Laura* Kira's eyes became red, and her fangs flexed as if she could smell my blood and carved it. As I struggled to remove my leg from the masked man, I came upon a stone, which I grabbed and slammed at his head. I summoned all my strength to stand up and begin running as he held his head. Kira would outrun me and catch up with me, but I could tell she was struggling because she didn't want to be my murderer. I thanked her for that, but I was so disoriented from the bleeding that I didn't realize I was in a maze. I still kept going without any direction until I was at a dead end. I turned back and saw the man who wanted to kill me, but no Kira. The man then removed his mask to reveal one of my father's guards. I saw broken glass on the ground. I picked it up, staggering. " It is just you and me, son of a b***h," I said, spitting blood. Jace* I followed her scent to the garden, knowing that at any moment I could go insane. I stopped touching the garden bench because I would never forgive myself if something bad happened to her. I could detect two more individuals near her, and then the fragrance of human blood. "No, this can't be," I murmured as I began to hurry. As a vampire, I had the advantage of speed, which helped me a lot. Laura moved lifeless but strong, holding something shiny and ready to destroy her opponent, much to my dismay. "Laura!" I yelled as she smiled back at me before dropping and passing out. As soon as I realized who was responsible, my close buddy (or should I say ex-friend), I felt a torrent of rage. He'd always been envious of me, and I'm sure he discovered she was my mate and plotted to kill her to render me worthless. I charged at him, separating his head from his body, without saying anything... As his body fell to the ground, I thought to myself, "I've wanted to do this for a long time and now I've done it." Arisha ran to the ground, realizing how much Laura had bled, and attempted to wake her up. I told her not to tell anyone about it and to try not to be worried. I carried her despite her blood being all over me; I was tempted to taste it because it was energizing, but I had to look after her, and I wouldn't take her blood without her consent. I carried her away to her room, telling Aisha that she would be alright, and she dutifully followed me out the door. After releasing my fang, I bit my wrist to let my blood out and placed it inside her mouth. As a result, she will wake up feeling strong and will be healed without pain or drugs on time. I continued staring at her because she was so lovely despite her injuries. I smiled and switched off the light as I walked out. I glanced at her one final time before leaving.
