“It is natural to die as to be born” – Francis Bacon.
Alexandria's pov
Three months later~
“Charlie!” I yelled, my feet kicking the door to the receptionist's office wide open. The old man sitting behind a wooden desk jumped out of his seat. I glared at him and he shrunk back.
He cleared his throat and fixed his tie back to its rightful place. “Miss Olsen, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
I flipped him off and continued walking until I got to the alpha’s door. Charlie didn’t bother telling me to stop. Unless he wishes to die early, he knows not to try me. I pushed the door open and received growls from the eight alphas in the room.
My eyes scanned and locked on the one sitting at the other of the long brown oak table, and I increased my glare. He groaned and rolled his eyes.
“Alex, what do you want this time?” He huffed out.
“I’m glad you ask, you selfish son of a b***h!” several gasps sounded across the room. I ignored them, planted my palms hard on the table. “You told me, you would call someone for Riverton to investigate the murders of the wolves in this town, and guess what Makima told me?”
His face sobered and I glared even harder, hoping I'd be able to kill him with my eyes.
“She told me-”
“You can’t talk to an alpha in that tone.” one of the pompous alphas in the room shouted, he was a fairly tall man, big build with short brown curls. I turned my head to him, pushed myself off the table, and made my way to where he sat. He sent me a threatening look, but I didn’t flinch. I shoved a hand into his hair, grabbed a fist full, and used that as leverage to smack his face down on the table. His groan of pain floated around the walls of the room. I leaned in closer to his ear and whispered;
“When I'm talking, you will keep your mouth shut or I will shut it for you.”
“Alex, that’s enough,” Kaiden growled. I released the alpha and his hands latched onto his bleeding nose. I chuckled at this. The other men in the room stared at me weirdly, and with anger. I winked.
“Kaiden, aren’t you going to handle your omega? She just assaulted an alpha. He could wage war.” Solomon said.
I bit down on my bottom lip to hold back my laughter. “He would wage war just because of a nose bleed? If he has a problem he can fight her, whatever happens after that is none of my business.”
I turned my attention back to the man I came to see. “You are going to call someone, and you’re going to call them now.”
He grumbled. “I already called someone; I just didn’t tell Maxima who it was because she’s nosy. He is a pretty private guy and the last thing I want is for some busybody to cause problems between me and an old friend,” he stated flatly.
I hummed, I can understand thaT. Makima is the worst person to tell anything. I gave him one last glare, then turned to leave the room. But not before saying one last thing “He better show up soon, Mel won’t visit my house because I've been storing her late husband's body in a cooler in my f*****g basement.”
“He should be coming in today; you have nothing to worry about.”
“I would hope not.”
With that, I exited the meeting room and waved to Charlie on my way out. He offered me a tense smile. I should really stop scaring the poor guy, or he might have a heart attack.
I can’t believe it’s been only three months since Daniel’s body was delivered to Mel’s doorstep. God, seeing his chopped-up limbs in that box was horrifying. And Mel gave up on life, nearly killing herself and her unborn babies. I blinked back tears; she made a decision that she regrets. Almost committing suicide had sent her into labor early. The doctor had to choose, her life or the twins.
She can’t look at herself anymore. Calls herself a murderer. Then she tried to kill herself again just last week, geezus. There's no helping her anymore. She has lost touch with reality and sooner or later, she’ll succeed in her attempts to end her life. I don’t know how to help her anymore.
Since then, we’ve had twelve more murders. Each one is delivered to the doorstep of their loved ones. If I find who’s doing this, I'll make them pay.
I continued walking. I don’t take my car out unless I have to. Walking under the burning heat of the sun in a leather jacket and all-black attire might not be the smartest decision but I don’t care. I might spot something on my walk. The streets were filled with ten to twenty people, which isn’t unusual for a small town, but Grenadville wasn’t like other small towns. After the killer started taking more wolves out, people got scared- mostly the omegas and betas. The alphas claim to not be afraid of anything.
I tsked. They can’t be serious. Who wouldn’t be afraid of someone who could sneak up on one of the most skilled alphas and kill him? They're full of s**t and I know it. I have a knack for being very silent, and yet, even I can’t sneak up on Daniel without him noticing.
Unless the killer was someone he knew? If that was the case, they’d have to be helluva strong to actually kill him. He'd fight back. And probably win.
I felt a pang of hurt around my skull, s**t another f*****g migraine. I can’t handle this I need to relax, let loose and forget about this case before I go crazy. My eyes caught the sight of long blonde hair, short black pants, and a huge white hoodie, paired off with black Nike slippers. Chris! Yes!
My feet moved at a fast pace too caught up to him. I tapped his shoulder the second I was behind him. Blue eyes locked on with my turquoise one.
Chris's lips curled up into a booming smile. “Sup bitch.”
“What’s up my favorite OmeGA?” I greeted him back. We giggled like a bunch of school girls. “But on a serious note, I need your help.”
He gave me a worried look, and I brushed it off with a wave.
“It’s currently...” I looked at the watch on my wrist. “Four-thirty-pm and I would love to go out and get laid tonight. I need this to get my mind off of things.”
“Say less, let’s get you jazzed up for tonight.” he grabbed my hand and pulled me in the direction of my home. “There’s this new bar, fancy, classy... you can get yourself a nice alpha,” he informed me in a chirpy tone. I have no idea how he can stay so positive.
I cringed at the mention of an alpha. “No way. You know I don’t sleep with alphas.”
He rolled his blue eyes, and blatantly ignored my words. ”But to do that, we’ll need to dress you up in a smexy outfit.”
“Smexy?!” I'm starting to regret this.
“Yes. Smexy. Smutty and sexy.” he yelled out causing the few people on the street to look at us, when they saw Chris, they gave me a look of pity before going about with their day. Everyone in town knows Chris is insane. That's why he’s my best friend.
The feisty omega and the crazy omega. We’re like two peas in a deranged pod.
I just hope he doesn’t dress me up as a slut. Like he did last time...
