Chapter 2: First day in the town

1874 Words
It’s never too late to be who you might have been- George Eliot Noah's pov “Noah...” Kaiden said in a pleading tone. I rubbed the bridge between my nose, I shouldn’t be dealing with this at midnight on a Saturday. This is usually the time sane people use to relax and rejuvenate after a long week. “No, K. we’re good friends and all but I can’t just bring my team from Riverton to Grenadville just because your police can’t figure out who’s killing your little pups.” That would leave my town defenseless. Kaiden laughed softly. “Why are you always so salty? Look I know you’re busy, and you probably have a lot of cases to solve-” yes I do. One about a missing child. She's been gone for twelve days, and twenty-one hours. She was nabbed by a man pretending to be her father’s friend. We know he didn’t take her out of the city and I'm this close to finding his location, I can’t leave now. I'm so close to sending this asshole to prison, or the grave. Depends on my mood when I catch him. “-but please. I can’t lose another one. If you don’t help me, Noah, I don’t know who can. And it won’t be long before this person comes for me next.” No, he’s wrong. From what he has told me, the killer, or killers, the main target isn’t the alpha. They're doing this for a reason. Could be a rival pack. Grenadville is home to one of the strongest wolves, many don’t like them. They live well amongst the humans in their town and are very welcoming to strangers. Not a bad thing for a small town with zero tourist attractions. “K?” I breathed out. “Noah please, have I ever begged you for anything?” he sounded defeated. I don’t like that tone on him. He's never sounded this disturbed, and weak. I sighed. I can’t believe I'm doing this. “Fine-” He cut me off “Yes! Thank you so much-” “On one condition.” “What is it?” “I want a place to stay, somewhere good. Where I can carry out my investigation and big enough to house my team IF I do decide to pull them in.” He breathes out in relief. I wonder what he thought I was going to say. We're old friends, I can't really let his town suffer. “Done. I know just the place.” “And one more thing...” ΩΩΩΩΩ ΩΩΩΩΩ I took a small sip from my cup, enjoying the flavor of the Gimlet as it slid down my throat. I can’t believe they have this at a small-town bar, but hey, I'm not complaining. I could make this drink myself; the ingredients are fairly simple. - 2 oz gin or vodka - .75 oz simple syrup - .75 oz lime juice Shake ingredients with ice and strain into a cocktail glass. Very easy to make. I love it. Especially with vodka, I'm not a gin guy. I checked my phone once again, no text. Good, I trust Celian can handle the case. I told him exactly what to do and he can always reach out to me for help. I trust the kid, he’s got this. And he has my very reliable team backing him up, what could go wrong? I'll be back before the month ends. Serial killers are easy to catch if you figure out their pattern. I just need to do that I can trace the killer's footsteps. I shouldn’t be thinking about work, I came here to relax. Tomorrow I'll be meeting up with Kaiden’s top omega to fill me in on the case. She also has one of the victim's body, frozen. Smart, if there’s anything they didn’t see, I will. Kaiden says she’s very difficult to work with but she’s the best. I haven't met an omega I couldn't handle. That isn't me being cocky, I was raised right by my mother. It left me with great communication skills. A spicy honey coating scent wafted through the air, and I searched for the owner. My jaw almost fell off my face. Speaking of omegas, who is that? My eyes took in the delicious sight, sitting alone at a singles table on the other end of the club. I didn’t expect any omegas to be up here, they’re all down at the club dancing. This beauty sat with one gorgeous caramel-colored leg draped over the other. She had on a red satin gown, with thin spaghetti arms. It fit her body snuggly, showing off all the goods. Her bosom pushed up at the top of the dress, showing just enough cleavage and leaving the rest to my imagination. Her hips and thick curves showed through the dress. She wore only a silver bracelet and matching earrings with diamonds dangling from them and those small pieces of jewelry complemented her entire outfit. Her unique grey hair was put in a beautiful ponytail. Held up by a lovely black and gold hairband. My eyes went back to her thighs, visible thanks to the slit of the dress. The slit went up to her hip, I'm curious, is she wearing any underwear? I can't seem to find any signs of undergarments. The slit ran that high. Her feet were covered in a black shoe, its straps bejeweled in sliver and similar diamonds to the one on her wrist. She looked too good to be true. A goddess amongst peasants, I felt unworthy from just looking at her. The way she squared her shoulders gave me a hint that she was looking for a good time, but at the same time, she wouldn’t just go with anyone. Good, my beast roars. Saliva fills my mouth, she's a sight to behold. On her table was a single glass of spritz, a low alcohol drink. She isn’t up for getting drunk. I'm hooked, now let’s see if I can win her over. She looks hard to get. This angel has groped the attention of every male in the room, but all seemed to avoid her. She turned to look in my direction, her eyes were a mesmerizing turquoise color, then she smiled. My breath was cut in my throat, she looked even prettier with a smile on her luscious lips- with brown lipstick on them. I sent her a smile back and she beckoned me over with a move from her fore-finger. I was surprised to say the very least. Then her eyes returned to her drink, she raised it, dipped it, and took a swig. I watched the movement of her throat as she swallowed. My blood pumped hard in my veins. I got up immediately, taking my drink with me. When I got closer, I was blown away by the tone of her voice. But her words threw me off. Whatever I was expecting from this woman, it certainly wasn't- “So, let’s hear your best pick-up line?” she said, tilting her head to the side. Her lips moved from the smile I had seen before to a full-blown smirk. Shy most definitely isn’t a word I would use to describe her. I chuckled; her cheeks flushed a bit. It might not show on her skin but I can tell, she didn’t falter though. Her confidence remained buzzing through the air. “Is this seat taken?” I asked politely, a smirk forming on my face. She left me stunned with her words, but she doesn’t need to know that. She didn't need the information that my brain had taken a U turn from the sultry jolts of her voice. She shook her head. I would be a liar if I said the way her hair bounced wasn’t jaw-dropping, I can’t even explain it. There is something about her that just appeals to me. I drag a long gaze down her form, again. This time deleting an item off her body, hoping my imagination would feed me the image of her nude skin. She flashed her teeth at me. Oh, she knows I’m undressing her with my eyes. She took another sip from her glass and I sat down across from her. “Alright tell me.” “I’m an honest man, I don’t do pick-up lines,” I told her firmly, a bit of playfulness in my tone. “Oooh, well then. Why don’t you tell me what you would do to me if I agreed to give you all this for tonight? If you’re good, I might just say yes.” she brought the glass up to her lips again and winked. My eyes widen to the extent that I thought they might budge off. Who is this woman? She isn’t like any other girl I've seen. I just know she’s going to be wild in bed. I think it’s time I turned the tables around. This flustered, gobsmacked feeling needs to go. I can barely find words that fit. I lowered my cup, allowing the glass bottom to meet the wood, and the next few words come out easily. “Why would I spoil the surprise by telling you that? You'd have to find out exactly what I would do to you.” She leaned over the table; my gaze drops two her beautiful ample bosom. The distraction has me biting the inside of my cheek to stop myself from groaning. “Touche,” she said in a low monotone. My d**k jumped in my pants. Goddamn. She leaned back, and her eyes shamelessly roamed my whole body. She licked her lips, and her smirk seemed so wicked. She keeps amazing me, I have never met an omega this confident and flirtatious. I might have been talking to the wrong women my whole life. Where has she been? “I’ll be very honest with you right now, I'm curious about whether or not you have panties on right now.” I blurt without thinking. This is new territory. I swear I usually have more control over what comes out of my mouth. She uncrossed those beautiful thighs and got up. I worried at the back of my mind, that maybe she was upset by my words. She grabbed her purse; I hadn't seen that before. “I’m not. Why don’t you use that to your advantage back at my place? Game over.” I couldn’t stop the way my lips curved up, or the rest of the blood in my brain flowing to the weapon in my pants. I got to my feet, dropped a tip on the table. She placed hers as well. We left our drinks half empty. And exited the bar together. I let her go ahead of me, watching her hips sway from side to side. Her round ass jiggled with each movement. She has to be doing that on purpose. I refuse to believe otherwise. My eyes couldn’t look at anything else. I'd be surprised if I made it down the stairs to the club and out of the building without tripping. And if I don't, it'll be worth it.
