Chapter 13

585 Words
Joshua entered the house with a heavy heart. The situation with August still replayed in his mind, and he couldn’t shake off the feeling of regret that clung to him like a shadow. As he walked into the living room, he found his father sitting there, looking deeply upset, he could sense it from his eyes. He went towards him and sat beside him. “What happened, father?” Joshua asked, his voice tinged with concern. His father looked towards him, his eyes searching Joshua’s face for answers. “What happened between you and August?” he asked Joshua remained silent, his gaze dropping to the floor. “Joshua, I want an answer. What happened?” his father insisted, his voice firm but filled with worry. “Nothing,” Joshua replied, though his voice lacked conviction. “You’re lying Joshua Smith “No father, we’re good”, he hesitated “You’re good? Fine”, his father said, frustration evident in his tone. “August called me and said that something happened between you that should remain between both of you. He said you don’t have to blame yourself don’t stress yourself he will explain everything to his parents himself. He also mentioned that his lawyer will help you with all the paperwork. He wants me to tell you this so that you’ll feel better.” Joshua’s heart sank further. He hadn’t expected August to reach out to his father, nor did he anticipate the level of care and concern August still had for him despite everything. “Joshua I don’t know what had happened that you guys went this far but as your father, I’ll tell you that you’ve lost something incredibly precious,” his father continued, his voice softening with emotion. “August didn’t want me to force you to tell me anything, but he wanted you to take care of yourself.” Joshua looked up, meeting his father’s eyes. There was a moment of silence, a heavy pause filled with unspoken words and deep emotions. “Father, I…” Joshua began, but he couldn’t find the right words to express his turmoil. “Joshua, you need to understand that August cares for you deeply. Whatever happened between you two, it’s not the end of the world. He can be arrogant and spoiled but he never wanted to hurt you. I didn’t want to force you for anything but think before you do something, love is so hard to find in this world,” his father’s voice is gentle but firm. Joshua nodded slowly, the weight of his father’s words sinking in. He realized that despite the confusion, he needed to find a way to make everything right. Augusts’ actions showed that there was still a chance for reconciliation. He lost in his thoughts, his father reached out, placing a reassuring hand on Joshua’s shoulder. “Take care of yourself, you’re strong, Joshua. You’ll get through this. And remember, I’m always here for you.” Joshua nodded again, he hugged his father. His father patted his back, “Now, go take some rest we’ll talk about it later. And August is alright don’t force anything give yourself sometime perhaps you both will understand then.” Joshua stood up and went towards his room, laying on the bed. “Give me only one chance to find you and apologize, I was confused by my incompetency to trust myself and you, August. Don’t turn you back to me”. he murmured to himself.
