Keira’s POV
Today is the day my father visits. I’m really excited for it. I haven’t seen anyone from my old pack in such a long time. But as excited as I am, Dawson isn’t in the best mood. I’m trying to not bring attention to it. After my shower, I walk out into the bedroom, to see Dawson getting dressed.
“I have to meet with my father, but I’ll be down for breakfast.” He says. He kisses my cheek and heads out. I get dressed and dry my hair, then I head down to the dinning hall and find Sam and Cleo, two warrior friends I’ve made here.
“Hey Luna.” Everyone calls me Luna now, it feels weird because they have a Luna.
“Hey. Morning!” I take a seat next to them. Macie brings me a plate and some coffee. The plate has hash browns, sausage, and scrambled eggs, with some toast.
“Thanks Macie.” She smiles at me.
“Man do you know everyone?” Cleo asks.
“No, just the important ones.” I smile and start eating. They tell me about training today. I wish I could be in training with them. I miss it. But I’ve been kept too busy. I know I’m weaker than I used to be from being cooped up in here all the time. But my wolf is pretty big. Harper has always been proud of her size.
“My father is coming to visit the pack today.” I tell them as we eat.
“That’s awesome. How long has it been since you’ve seen him?” Cleo asks.
“Umm at least three months.”
“That’s a long time. I hope you have a good visit.” Sam says. Soon Dawson joins us.
“Morning ladies.” Dawson kisses the top of my head before sitting down. Harrison comes over too.
“Morning Alpha.” They say.
“Luna told us her father is visiting today.” Cleo says.
“Yup, he should be here after breakfast.” Dawson says. I’m so excited I can barely eat anymore.
“We need to head out for patrol. See you later Luna.”
“Bye guys.” Cleo and Sam leave the table.
“Keira, don’t mention to your father what happened between us. You don’t want to start a war, do you?” Dawson’s voice is cold. It completely catches me off guard. I look up at him, his face looks serious.
“I wasn’t going to.” I say poking at my food. Dawson doesn’t say anything else. He just gets up and walks away. Harrison is quiet. Why would he say that? I get up from the table and walk to the front porch of the pack house. I take a seat in one of the rocking chairs and wait for my father’s arrival. I don’t have to wait too long before I see a black SUV pull up. I stand up and see the Alpha Thorin and my dad exiting the car. I race down the stairs and lunge at my dad wrapping my arms around his neck. He laughs as he hugs me.
“My Kare bear. Oh how I’ve missed you.” He says. I missed him too. I feel so safe in his arms. That’s when I truly realize how unsafe I’ve felt for the past three months. It makes me want to cry. But I pull back and smile.
“I missed you too.” I say.
“What about me? Am I chopped liver?” Alpha Thorin teases. I smile at him.
“No of course not. It’s good to see you too Alpha Thorin.” I say. Alpha Julian and Dawson come out of the pack house.
“Good to see you’ve arrived safely. Shall we get started?” Alpha Julian suggests.
“I was wondering if Keira could show Beta Harth around. Allow them some father daughter time.” Alpha Thorin suggests.
“Very well. I have no problem with that.” Alpha Julian says. My father offers me his arm.
“Shall we?” I take his arm and we walk towards the training fields. We walk a bit before my dad starts.
“So how have things been here?” He asks.
“Good. Everyone is really friendly.”
“And Dawson?” He asks.
“He’s been great too.” When we were well out of earshot of everyone my dad turns to me.
“Keira, we’re worried about you. Did you know Mason and Lily drove here the other day to see you. Dawson said you were away. But he wasn’t very nice to them. But you know Lily, I’m sure she wasn’t being her best self either.”
“They came here?” I say shocked. Dawson knew my friends showed up and he didn’t say anything to me about it?
“Is he treating you alright?” My dad asks.
“Yeah, we got into a disagreement. But we made up and everything is fine. Really.” I smile at my dad.
“We’d feel better if you were more in contact with us. I mean it’s been three months and we’ve barely heard from you.” He’s right. But I have a feeling Dawson isn’t going to let that change anytime soon.
“I know, I’m sorry. I got caught up in all the duties of being a Luna and a good mate. I’ll try harder.” He wraps his arm around my shoulders.
“Well as long as you are okay. Now show me around your pack.” He says. I show him the training fields, the pack lands, and a few pretty places in the forest. He tells me how everyone is doing back home. It sounds like Lily and Mason miss me a lot. When the tour is over we head back to have lunch. We walk into the cafeteria. I see Cleo and Sam and wave to them. We walk over.
“Guys this is my dad. Beta Harth.” I say.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you.” Sam says.
“You as well. May we join you?” My dad asks.
“Of course.” The girls make room. Macie brings me and my dad a plate.
“Thanks Macie. Oh Macie, this is my dad, Beta Harth.” She bows.
“It’s nice to meet you.” She says.
“You as well Macie.” Macie hurries away.
“Aw, she gets it from you. Keira knows just about everyone’s name here.” Cleo says.
“Names are important. And it creates a connection. I’m glad I taught her something.” My dad says. My dad and the girls talk about training.
“I’m surprised Keira hasn’t shown you some of our training.”
“I don’t train much here. My whole day is practically spent by Luna Bethany’s side.” I say. After lunch is over, we rejoin the two Alphas.
“It seems our meeting is done.” Alpha Thorin says.
“Thanks for coming all this way.” Alpha Julian says.
“Of course. Any chance to see my daughter, I’ll take it.” My dad smiles at me. I walk them out of the pack house.
“Now don’t be a stranger.” My dad says. I give him a hug.
“I love you.” I say.
“I love you too.” He gets in the car and I watch it drive away. I feel Dawson’s hand on my arm.
“Did you say anything?” He asks.
“No.”
“Good.” Dawson turns and goes back inside. I already miss my father. I already miss feeling safe.
