Chapter 9

1535 Words
Alpha Roman Black’s P.O.V   I looked up at her thirty minutes into the movies, smiling to see that she was sound asleep. I took the glasses and plates back downstairs to the kitchen and saw that Shelly was still up, sitting at the breakfast bar drinking a glass of orange juice.   “So, how's it going up there? Is she doing okay? Is she settling in?” Shelly asked and I nodded.   “Yeah, she's doing just fine, she's sleeping at the moment and from the sound of it she is sleeping well. I wonder what really went on at that other pack because she is scared of almost everything, but she covers it up well. She asked me if she could watch TV and I could hear how nervous she was when she asked.” I replied and Shelly nodded, but she looked like she had something on her mind.   “What's up?” I asked and Shelly sighed.   “We may not ever know what went on there, but don't pressure her into telling you until she is ready. Whatever she went through was very traumatic for her and if you push her to tell you then you might push her away completely or she might break down.” Shelly replied and I nodded. She was right, I didn't want to push her away, I needed her here with me, no matter what. I walked back upstairs, leaving Shelly in the kitchen and when I got back to my room I saw that Hope was still asleep. It had been a really long day, hell it had been a really long three weeks and I was exhausted. I laid down on the fold out bed and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.   Hope’s P.O.V   I suddenly woke up from a terrible nightmare, sweating and scared to death. I almost forgot where I was and then it hit me, I’m not in my old pack, I’m in Roman’s pack, in his bed. I felt safe as soon as I realised that and I wanted to thank him and everyone else that had helped me here, I wanted to do something for the whole pack. The light was coming through the curtains, so I carefully and quietly got out of bed and managed to find a long shirt and pair of sweatpants that belonged to Roman, I tiptoed out of the room and tried my best to be quiet as I tried to find the stairs. I was really tired when Roman brought me in here that I didn't take much notice of where we were going, but after getting lost a few times I managed to find my way to the kitchen. I took out the eggs, bacon, sausages, onion, green pepper and diced ham. I diced  up the onion and green pepper, then grabbed the mushrooms and diced them up as well, putting them all in a pan with some oil and started to cook them. I cracked some eggs and decided to make everyone omelettes, so it was a good thing that there were plenty of eggs here. I cooked the bacon and sausages, then decided to make biscuits as well. When everything was finally cooked I placed it all in the dining room and then I started to hear people coming downstairs and into the house. Everyone came into the dining room and they all looked shocked to see the food on the table. Didn't they normally eat like this? They were acting like this was a feast or something to them. I went back into the kitchen and grabbed a load of plates and forks, brought them back in and set them at the end of each table for everyone to just grab one, then I went back and took the pitchers of orange juice and milk that I poured earlier and put them on each of the tables too. The last ones to come down were Shelly and Roman, but they both looked stunned too.   “Hope, my Goddess, this all looks so delicious. Come and sit down with us and eat.” Roman said and I cautiously nodded. I was never allowed to eat with the pack, so this would be a new experience for me. I went to sit down at another table, but Roman called me to sit next to him, so I did. Everyone started piling their plates with food and began to eat, no one said a single word until all the food and drinks were gone.   “Breakfast was really delicious, Hope. you did a wonderful job, thank you.” Roman said.   “Thank you, I wanted to do something for everyone, for welcoming me to the family. I’m glad everyone enjoyed breakfast.” I replied and got up to start cleaning the dining hall.   “Hope, you don't have to do this on your own, in fact you don't have to do it at all. Everyone helps here.” Shelly said and started to help me with another she-cat.   “Hey, my name is Amber. I’m happy you’re here, we all help each other here. We take turns in cooking and cleaning, there's never just one person doing everything. I hope we can become good friends.” Amber said, smiling at me.   “Aww, you’re so sweet, I hope we can become friends too. I hope I can make everyone proud.” I replied and she nodded, smiling. When everything was cleaned up and put away Roman came back in and took me by the hand.    “Come on, we are going shopping. As much as I like to see you wearing my clothes, I think you might be more comfortable in your own clothes that actually fit.” Roman said, chuckling as I kept rolling up the sleeves of the shirt. I was a little surprised, but he was right so I nodded and left with him. We got to the garage and got into a black SUV, the windows were tinted and the seats were lovely and warm, like someone had already warmed them up and it was very nice inside and out, very clean. We left the territory and it took us forty minutes to get to the mall, he parked the car and we both got out. Roman took my hand in his and looked deep into my eyes, making me really self conscious.   “Listen, I know that all of this is really weird and new for you, but you're safe now. You're safe with me and I’ll never do anything to hurt you or force you to do anything you don't want to do. When we get in there I don't want you to worry, you can buy whatever you want to get.” Roman said and I felt more comfortable now, but that didn't mean I was going to take advantage of his kindness. I nodded and we walked into the huge mall, but I was surprised to see that it was empty and I mean completely empty, there wasn't a single customer here.   “It's okay, I bought the mall years ago, but even though I own it we still buy things from here, we never take anything for granted. The reason there is no one else here is because I brought the day, the whole mall belongs to us for the day. I did this so that you would feel safe.” Roman said, answering the question that I haven't even asked. I couldn't help but hug him, this was so kind of him.   “Thank you.” I whispered and pulled away from him. He smiled at me and we started on our shopping trip. We went from store to store, some I bought things from and others I didn't. The last thing we brought was jewellery and make-up. So far I had gotten dresses, shorts, jeans, shorts, shoes to match everything, purses and we even got a dresser and a vanity for me so that I could place my make-up on it. When we were finally done shopping we were both exhausted.   “Everything should be at the house when we get back, Shelly will make sure everything is put together and put away, so don't worry. When we get back we can just sit back and relax.” Roman said as we walked back to the car. We got in the car and drove home. A few minutes later we drove up to the pack house and I quickly got out of the car, going straight into the kitchen where I found Shelly.   “Hey Shelly, I just wanted to say thank you for putting everything away and putting things together for me. I really appreciate your help.” I said and Shelly smiled.   “No problem sweetie, I was happy to help. Go and relax, you look like you need it.” Shelly said and I nodded. She was right, I was exhausted and all I wanted was to rest up.
