My name is, lets see, actually I don't really remember my name. It's been so long since anyone actually called me by it. All of my pack members and everyone else around me usually calls me the Omega, slave, skank or the worst one is b***h. Everyone was cruel to me here, even my own parents hated the sight of me so much that they disowned me.
Flashback Five Years Ago….
Today was my fifteenth birthday and I was so happy because today was the day that it was my turn to shift. We were having a huge party for the whole pack to celebrate my turning fifteen. The food was amazing and everyone was having a really great time, this was amazing. Everyone was cheering for me, we were dancing, eating and having a lot of fun, but then it was time for me to shift my first shift. I was really nervous about shifting for the first time because of the pain and feeling my bones crack and dislocate, but I was trying to keep myself calm, knowing that once it was over it would get easier. It was bang on midnight and the moon was full and at its highest point in the sky, it looked so beautiful as the cool night breeze rippled around the dress I was wearing. Alpha Cole stood on stage announcing it was time, so I walked up on stage and stood there. I had prepared myself for what was to come, I had prepared myself for the pain, for hearing my cat's voice for the first time and everything. I was waiting for my cat to say something to me, to start talking, but there was nothing, it was completely silent. I stood on the stage for ten minutes with everyone looking at me and still nothing happened. I prayed to the Moon Goddess for a sign that something was going to happen, that maybe my cat was still asleep or something, but nothing happened. What the hell is going on? Why am I not shifting? Has this ever happened before? What's wrong with me?
“Tonight has been a complete failure, maybe it's just not the right time for Hope to shift. We can try again next year, but I don't want any of you people to not harm her, she is still one of us, it is just that she is a late bloomer.” Alpha Cole said and turned to face the crowd, smiling. They all nodded, accepting what he had said and then everyone called it a night after that and they all went back to their homes and rooms. Alpha Cole turned to face me and hugged me tightly, making me feel better about what had or should I say hadn't happened.
“You had better pray that you shift next year.” Alpha Cole whispered to me and my blood turned cold when I heard him. He let me go and turned around, leaving me standing there completely stunned and shocked. What did he mean by that? I thought to myself as I walked off the stage, but quickly shook it off. Alpha Cole was a kind Alpha, he would never hurt a single member of his pack and he would never punish me for not being able to shift. Maybe he was right and it just wasn't my time to shift, maybe next year it will be. I went home, showered and laid in bed, hoping that the next day would be fine. I was so tired from tonight, we were all having fun, dancing, eating, talking and joking around. Well, we were having fun until the time I had to go up on stage and after that everything was ruined. I laid my head on my pillow and closed my eyes, hoping that sleep would come fast and when it did I was no better off. I had nightmares of people laughing at me, throwing things at me and calling me names. When I woke up the next morning I felt completely drained and I felt like I had no sleep at all. I laid back down, pulling the blankets over my head, until I heard loud knocking on my bedroom door.
“Get up sleepy head or you will miss breakfast.” My mother called out and I sighed as I got out of bed. I took a quick shower, dried off, got dressed and did my hair in a messy bun. I walked downstairs and was greeted by my dad first.
“Pumpkin.” My dad said, kissing my forehead. I sat down at the table just as my mom put a fresh plate of pancakes in front of me and I started to slowly eat them. I wasn't hungry, but I ate them just to make her happy.
“Honey, when you get back from school can you bring home some milk and eggs, oh and bread as well so I can make french toast tomorrow.” My mom asked and I nodded.
“Yes, moma.” I replied. After school had finished that day I brought back everything that mom had asked me for.
Flashback Ends….
That was one of the last happy memories I have of my mom and dad, of the pack and of Alpha Cole. I didn't realise that as the years went by things would be as rough for me as they are right now. I had no idea that I would soon be turning twenty and be living a life like this, a life that was worthless. A life of complete and utter hell.
