Riley – POV “You’re back.” Zac’s voice greeted me as I walked in, his eyes briefly scanning me before he reached for his jacket. “So, you’re going to follow Nick around?” His tone was casual, but I could feel the weight behind it. As he slipped on his jacket, I noticed Nanna glaring at him—still upset, I guessed, that he hadn’t shared the truth about the stake incident with her. “Riley, take it easy,” Nanna said softly, handing me a cup of blood and some herbs. I downed them both, the bitter herbs biting at my tongue as I forced them down. “Put on your jacket. It’s freezing out there,” Zac said, tossing a coat in my direction. Without a word, I joined him as we headed out into the biting cold, the dark swallowing us up as we trekked through the night. After a while, I couldn’t hold back
