The Wars Within

Chapter 5

The trip back was not as long as getting there, yet it was awkward. I did not have much to say to Ace and I did not know how I was going to explain this kind of stuff to Rogue. Yet, I am not even sure what to explain. There is nothing that really happened, it is all just a shitty scenario that I had when I was horny. Then again, I still cannot explain the feelings I have towards Ace, though I barely know him. I have never had feelings like this, even for my multiple one-night stands, besides how I feel with Rogue. It is a confusing feeling and a strange one at that.

As we are getting closer to the gates of the town, I notice that one of the town's people is on guard. I gave a signal showing it was me and they quickly left the post to go and open the gates. As the steel door slid open, the guard, Gerard, stood behind it, and looked happy to see me back.

"Amni! You're back!" Gerard says to me, and I nod as we enter the gates. They close behind us once we are fully inside. I look around the torn-up buildings and homes and feel that something is off.

"Where's Rogue?" I ask, and I get back an answer I do not want to hear.

"He went to the next town over," he exclaimed. "He said something about an attack and they needed help. He left me and my team in charge."

Shit, this is bad.

"The next town over?! That is at least a half a day trip!" I am flustered, yet I cannot stand here and yell at my town men. He was only doing his job. I sigh and begin to rub my temple.

"How long ago did he leave?" I asked, trying to calm down from the situation. I know Rogue can take care of himself, yet I worry just as much as he does for me.

"He left yesterday morning. He said that he should be back either tonight or tomorrow morning." I look up in relief and see that my townsmen are looking at me with concern. I straighten myself up and look at him with a smile.

"Thank you for holding down the fort." I say to him, and he grins at me. I remember that he is one of the recent ones that I have saved. He is young but he's learned a lot since he's been here and is starting to know how to defend and take care of himself and his surroundings. I nod to him and turn my focus to Ace, leading him the way back to my house. Ace follows me the whole way and as I open the door, and invite him in. He looks around, taking in every inch of my home. As I entered behind him, I closed the door and put my bag down by the door. I took off my belt and everything and placed them next to the bag and walked over to the fridge. Opening it, I noticed that Rogue had put some more purified water in it for me.

"Would you like some water?" I asked Ace as I pulled two out of the fridge. He looks over to me and smirks.

"Sure, why not!" he says as he walks over to me and grabs one. He takes a few drinks and looks at me afterwards, wiping his mouth with his arm. "How do you have power here? It is exceedingly rare to find places with electricity still.” Ace walks over to my couch and sits down.

"We have generators all around here that are connected to everything. I fixed up all the fridges in the town and made it livable for everyone that Rouge and I have saved and brought back here. There are still plenty of homes and such that are empty from lack of people. But I'm hoping someday, we will have a community." I explain as I sit next to him. He checked me out again and I could get a glimpse of his eyes lingering.

"You're doing it again." I state towards him. He was looking me up and down and checking out areas of my body where I can see he is craving. He looks up at me shocked.

"Doing what?" He doesn't realize that I caught him and that he's been doing it these past few days.

"You're staring at me and checking me out. I have seen you do it the past few days on the way back." He looks at me for another second then looks away with a smirk on his face.

"Sorry, it's hard not to." he says as he slowly turns his sight back to me. "I mean c'mon, I've noticed the past few days on our way back that you don't need someone to watch after you or have your permission for s**t. You can take care of yourself, and your body language tells me about you. Plus, it’s hard not to look at you, being so hot and all."

His eyes are a dark color now, and I can tell they are full of lust and hunger for s*x. I could tell that is what he's thinking just by the look he's giving me. I look away and take a drink of my water and get back up off the couch.

"Well, are you wanting a tour of my home and the town?" I say, trying to release my mind from the thought of seeing Ace naked. He stands up and looks at me though his hooded cloak.

"I'd love to." He says without hesitation. I led him throughout my home, showing him the kitchen area, guest bedroom and I saved my bedroom for last. I opened the door and walked in to show him my closet and my weapons that were all aligned in there. He laughed when he saw them, and I gave him a look.

"What's so funny?" I ask, his eyes are looking at my guns and such. His grin showed that he was amused by something.

"Oh nothing, just the fact that you have all these nice guns and heavy machinery is funny that you brought a damn handgun with you out to your last trip." He looks at me and chuckles a little. I smile and laugh with him. After he settles down from laughing, he looks deeply into my eyes. Ace grabs my waist and pulls me closer to him as he grabs the back of my head and pulls me into a kiss. At that instant, I had butterflies throughout my whole body. My mind is a blur all at once and I did not care what we were doing anymore. All I knew was that I was wet, and I wanted Ace inside of me. "It was from when I was trying to save her. The Raiders sliced me in front of her, trying to break her before they r***d her and killed her in front of me." he says quietly. I could tell that it was an unsettling topic to talk about.

"What was her name?" I ask. I don't want to pry too much, yet I was curious. I have not heard him say her name yet. I can feel his chest lift up and back down slowly, with a small sigh.

"Serine." He spoke quietly. Ace pulled me closer again after saying her name. I lean my head up and I can see that he is looking back down at me. His eyes are filled with lust. I could not tell if it was for his Serine or for me. I pull a hand up to his face and caress it where his beard line is. He closes his eyes and leans into my caress. I pull his face closer and kiss him softly. I lay my head back on his chest and heard his heartbeat. Listening to that led me to sleep.

I wake up to my door being opened and Ace sits up quickly as he looks toward the doorway. I rub my eyes and see a man standing there.

"Amni?" the person at the door questions, and I intuitively know it was Rogue.

"Rogue?" I say and he looks at me with a smirk on his face.

"Damn, already banging the newcomers?" he said to me. He walks over to my bed and holds out his hand to Ace. Ace looks at him up and down confused as ever. "I'm Rogue. I help Amni run s**t around here." he introduces himself. Ace awkwardly takes his hand, and they shake hands.

"Ace," Ace says sternly and let’s go of his hand. I could tell that Ace was uncomfortable with this, yet I’m used to Rogue doing this kind of thing with everyone else he catches me sleeping with. Yet, I do the same to him at times too. Rogue looks over to me and winks.

"Nice find, huh?” Rogue laughs. I groan at him.

"Rogue, now is not a good time." I grunted as he laughed at me again. This time, I grab something off my nightstand and throw it at him, half playful, half serious. "Get out! Go on, I will see you in the morning!" I say as I look out and notice that it's dark out. He must have heard that I was home once he arrived back and came looking for me and found me here in bed with Ace.

"Fine," he says as he goes to the door. "See you in the morning!" He looks over to Ace and says what I cannot believe came out of his mouth next. " Have fun with her. She is a great Dom, if you know what I mean!" he says as he closes the door. I can hear my front door close and that is when I know Rogue is finally out.

I let out a sigh and rested my head in my hands. I look over to Ace who looks confused and worried. He begins to get up and I stop him.

"Where are you going?" I ask. He looks at me and laughs.

"I think it's best that I sleep downstairs and, on the couch, maybe." he says and gets up out of my bed.

"No," I say then I catch myself. I clear my throat. " You don't have to. I liked sleeping next to you." Ace looks at me, shrugs, and lays down again next to me.

"I was hoping you would say that" he laid down and gestured for me to lay in his arms again. I did so without hesitation. "To be quite honest, I didn't want to get up and out of the bed and out of your arms." I look up at him and he is smiling.

"It's been a while since I've actually had someone to sleep next to." I say, smiling back. He grabs my chin and pulls me closer into a kiss.

"I haven't felt this way about someone since Serine." he confesses, and my heart skips a beat. What the hell?

"But we've just met not too long ago." I say to him concerned that he may be catching quick feelings like I have. He looks into my eyes, and I can see that he is serious.

"It doesn't take much or long to find if you like someone or if they're right for you." I instantly blush from these words. Luckily, were in the dark and he could not see that. I look up to him and kiss him again, harder this time. He begins to try and move on top of me, but I push him back and lay over him.

"My turn." I whisper to him and bite his neck and I get on top of him. He moans as he lets my name slip out of his mouth.
