Ambrosia POV:
We got in late last night but I couldn't sleep so I took a long hot bath while Jackson made some food. We sat and talked about random things throughout the night until I finally dozed on the couch. When I woke back up Jackson was snoring in the chair and I laughed to myself. I walked in to the room and dressed in black tights and a tank top. I started feeling a rage build up inside me that I needed to work out, the last thing I would allow is for it to consume me to a point of no return. If I wanted revenge I needed to think smart and clear about it. I was trying my best to not make a lot of noise because I didn't want to wake Jackson up. He needs his rest, the last few days have been overly busy for us. I am use to getting little sleep so it is easy for me to function. Before I walked out the front door I left him a note that I would be somewhere outside working out, the moment I closed the door and my feet hit the ground I bolted forward straight in to the wood. I needed to get my muscles and blood flowing and it has been so long since I actually went for a run.
I usually let Sage out but I needed this and she understood. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going, I had one goal in mind and that was to run until my legs couldn't stand it anymore. My mind was racing through all of the memories that just kept surfacing. All the times Xander would defend me only to have his memory replaced with the worse. I wanted to know when he gave up the fight. I wanted to know when he stopped trying and why he stopped trying. Xander and I were always so close and protected each other and I knew he was going to challenge me. He wouldn't allow himself to get caught but even in the challenge I couldn't kill him. Not knowing what I do now, the only thing I can do is grant him the challenge and over take him to force his memories back. I wanted my brother back in my life and my kids to grow up with their uncle. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize I had completely rounded back to the cabin. I seen Jackson standing on the porch in his basketball shorts looking right at me. "I figured it wouldn't take you long to run around these woods." Jackson said with a smile. "I might go again, I don't even feel warmed up." I smirked.
He knew me to know not to question it. "Mind if Blaze runs with you?" Jackson asked. "Not at all as long as he can keep up." I said stretching my legs out. It didn't take long for Blaze to shift out and growled softly at me, he was never one to back out of a challenge no matter what it was. "After this we can spar okay?" I said winking at him. Blaze grunted and took off towards the woods at full speed. It didn't take me long to catch up to him and I could finally feel the burn in my legs which is what I wanted. "This way!" I yelled turning in a wide circle, I wanted to take the opposite way around because that was something I taught myself. Never let someone figure out your pattern or your schedule. It gives them the advantage if you do that. I took in all the different scents that was hitting my nose, I could smell the sweat that was now falling down the sides of my face. Blaze slowed down a little to get behind me and nipped at the back of my legs making me laugh.
We used to do this before the kids were born. It was our way of playing with each other like a cat and mouse chase that always made us laugh at the end of it. He was chasing me through the woods and I knew he wouldn't be paying attention to where I was running to so I pushed my legs towards the waterfall. As soon as I locked my eyes on to the ledge a smile came to my face and I pushed off and started falling downward in to the water. I looked up to see Blaze falling behind me and I smiled as we both hit the water. I surfaced laughing while Jackson surfaced with a deadly look on his face. "You knew that i***t would pay attention." Jackson grumbled making me laugh harder. "I know but we both needed to cool off, we are almost back at the cabin." I replied swimming towards the edge. I heard a stick break and I froze and snapped my head to the side. Jackson was pressed against my back looking around. "Maybe it was a small animal or something." I said trying to ease his tension. He finally relaxed a little and nodded. As we started climbing out I heard another movement to the side of us and I looked over to see a head peaking out from behind a tree.
A growl ripped from my throat and I narrowed my eyes. I couldn't see who or what it was, tall with a black cloak and a face mask covering what the hood did not. I took a step forward with Jackson at my side. "Can you see who that is?" I asked. "No, let's go and find out." Jackson growled. We both took off at the same time and the figure in front of us bolted running away from us. Whoever it was, ran faster than the both of us and it felt like we couldn't catch up to them. It had to be an older vampire for him to run so fast, with vampires the older you are the stronger and faster you become. It's how we older ones have kept the younger ones in line. They knew they wouldn't stand a chance against us. The figure in front of us jumped in to the trees and jumped from limb to limb until they were out of sight. Jackson and I stopped and looked around. "Where the hell did it go?" I asked scanning my eyes around. "I don't know but I do know it was a vampire, witches teleport and wolves can't run that fast let alone jump in to a tree." Jackson replied.
I took a deep breath trying to find a scent but I couldn't "We need the trackers here. They can pick up a scent and trace it. I know it wasn't Xander because he wouldn't have ran like that." I said turning back around. "That I can easily agree with you on. Let's get back and wait for the trackers to get here." Jackson said pulling at my arm. Who else would be all the way out here like that? It shouldn't have been anyone from the house because they were all busy with different tasks so it had to be someone from the outside that has never been here. "Maybe they were just curious or something? It isn't anyone we know directly because they would have said something. It has to be someone that is either traveling through or wants to talk but is too scared. I don't have a nice reputation you know." I said huffing. "Well either way we will find them and figure this all out. If they meant any harm I think we would have walked in to a trap or something." Jackson said looking around.
The woods were quiet, a little too quiet which meant someone has been hunting out here killing the animals or scaring them away. "If it was a loner vampire it probably seen Blaze chasing me and wanted to either kill him or help me get away. Vampires typically have a natural instinct to help another when they feel they are in danger." I said. "You think so? I mean you were laughing and smiling." Jackson replied. "Doesn't matter, you should know that even when I face danger I make time for witty comments and a smirk or two." I said because that was completely true, it was our way of showing that we aren't scared of whoever we are facing in that moment.
It was how we intimidated others and it worked well for me. “That I do know. I’m amazed at how well and how easily you get under people’s skin in a way to fuel them anger.” Jackson laughed. When got back to the area that whoever it was hid behind the tree. It would be essential for the trackers. “Let’s spar by the water while we wait. They are getting everyone together now.” Jackson said walking towards the water. I lunged at him only for him to turn and grab me and throw me closer to the water. “That was a lousy sneak attack.” Jackson grumbled getting in to his stance. I jumped to my feet and we ran at each other.
Our first were flying as we shuffled around each other. “Come on Ambrosia I know you have emotions to work out. Let them go.” Jackson grunted as my foot sunk his stomach in. He was right, I needed to stop holding back. I was angry as hell, I took a deep breath and narrowed my eyes. “There we go. You’re mad, your eyes are turning that bright red. Let’s go.” Jackson yelled throwing a branch at me that I easily caught. I twirled it around my hands before I launched it back at him. He was focused on catching the branch that it gave me time to tackle him to the ground, we rolled and I ended on top of him and I placed my hands on his shoulders and slammed him into the ground.
He reached up and latched on to my hair yanking me backwards and off of him, he got to his feet just as I did we ran at each other and I flung my right fist directly at him, he ducked to get behind me and just as he went to tuck me in a headlock I spun my body around taking my leg with it throwing him against a tree. Jackson grunted as he slid to the ground and I froze. “Jackson! Are you okay?” I asked running over to him. “I’m fine no worries, you know I can take a hit.” Jackson smirked. “I hit too hard I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” I said looking over his body.
He grabbed my hands and pulled me down, “Do not be sorry. You need to get your emotions out and you seem to do it best like this. I’d take all the beating in the world to ease your pain. You know that.” Jackson said smiling softly at me. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, “I do feel a little bit better.” I said easily because I did. Once I decide to let me emotions seep out there is nothing holding them back. “Good, the trackers are here.” Jackson said standing to his feet. “Don’t think we didn’t see you getting your ass kicked.” Tye laughed. “What are you two doing here? Has something else happened?” I asked walking up to Pythia. “No, but I have figured out what Penny was doing and I needed to come talk to you about it but it seems something has happened here.” Pythia said looking at me.
I took a step back and nodded my head, “Blaze and I were running this morning and we jumped off the ledge and in to the water. There was someone here but we couldn’t catch him or her. It was a vampire and an older one at that.” I replied. “How do you know it was a vampire?” Tye asked. “Ran faster than a wolf and witches teleport to get away in a hurry. Plus he or she jumped in to the trees and was gone.” Jackson replied. “Okay you two go in the house and we will be in momentarily.” Tye said looking at us. I knew there was nothing more that I could do so I hooked my arm in Pythias and walked inside with her. “I’m going to take a quick shower and then I’ll be down.” I said quickly.
She just nodded at me and took her book bag off. I ran upstairs because I didn’t want to stink like sweat anymore and I wanted to look and feel fresh for whatever information Pythia was about to drop on me......
