Chapter 14

Thane’s POV

I’m lying here watching my mate sleep. Who would have guessed that I would enjoy watching a woman sleep? Tessa was one of the women who escaped from Dark Hollow. Dr Roberts thinks that the drugs did not affect her the same way due to her alpha bloodline. She said they made her drowsy, but not to the degree it did the other women. Tessa is about 5ft 8in, she has blond hair and the bluest eyes I have ever seen. She is the daughter of an alpha. Her pack was small, and it was destroyed by rogues four years ago. There were about ten survivors, and they moved to the human city. There were three adults and seven children. Tessa said the attack happened so fast most people did not get a chance to get to the safe rooms. Her mother gave her and her baby brother to the cook and told them to get to the safe room. They found the housekeeper who had three children with her, and they were able to make it to the safe room in the pack. They came out two days later. They saw all the dead bodies as they searched for survivors. When they concluded that everyone was dead, she got the emergency cash and pack papers from her father’s office, and they went to the human city. They were able to use the money to buy a house and get started with food and supplies. The cook and housekeeper got jobs in the city and that’s how they paid bills. It wasn’t until weeks later they found their school teacher. He and two male students were in town getting supplies when the attack happened. He said when they returned the pack was under attack, he called the council and drove back to the city with the boys. The council called him three days later and told him everyone was dead. He got a job as a teacher at an elementary school and when they enrolled the other kids that’s when they found each other. They have all been living in the house and working. We offered them to join the pack. Some did but some are comfortable with their current lives and don’t want to leave.

Tessa is 18, and she graduated from high school a year ago. She was working as a fitness instructor at the local gym. Her brother is 15, and he wants to finish high school in the human world since he is on the football team there. He’s not sure if he wants to go to college yet. I think her being able to deal with these emotions has gotten us where we are now. She accepted the bond last night, and now she is in my bed. I can’t express in words how happy I am

“Why are you just staring at me” she says sleepily

“Just admiring my beautiful mate and thinking how lucky I am to have her” I reply
