Mike roamed around the bush but there was no sign of Melvin or Ella. He wondered where Melvin could have taken her to and blamed himself for losing her.
He could not believe he had Ella within his grasp and lost her to Melvin. What was he supposed to do now? He couldn't blame Ella for running back to Melvin because from what she said before leaving, he had realized that she did it for his sake.
She left him because Melvin had threatened her just as he had threatened him. Now he knew for a fact that Pepito was not overestimating Melvin's abilities when he told him that he was very smart and difficult to defeat.
He was more annoyed at the fact that John kept on calling him to know if he had rescued Ella. Eventually he picked up the call and told John everything that had happened.
