8 - She's The Boss

1466 Words
The sun was setting again on the day of reckoning. It had only been the night before that when Rayne found out her once trusted neighbor and friend, Theuss, was one of the people behind Darius’ kidnapping. She was driven to an undisclosed location with blinders on by her husbands. This wasn’t closure or the final step in finding out why this happened to Darius but it damn sure was a good place to start. Come hell or high water, Rayne would have some sort of answers tonight before she went home. The smell in the place she was being led was dank, almost nauseating. She could hear water dripping in the background. Although not sure exactly where they had taken her, she knew it was about an hour from home. Hearing a door open and close as Rayne was led inside a room, she could hear someone hollering loudly.  “Where the f**k am I? Heads are gonna roll! Do you know who I am? I am a f*****g detective.” Theuss was screaming.  The blinders were taken off of Rayne’s eyes and through the glass in front of her She could see a rundown old police looking interrogation room. Theuss was blindfolded and handcuffed to a table, cussing angrily.  There as a very large man in a grey suit standing in the room with Theuss. He repeated the same question several times to no avail. Theuss just hollered about his importance.  “Who do you work for Theuss and where did you get the money?”  “f**k you man. I work for the police department, I am a God Damned detective!” Was the only answer he would give. Dimitri and Darius were talking amongst themselves and Rayne slipped out the door. She had over ten minutes of this bullshit and wasn’t going to deal with it any longer.  Walking into the room she pointed to the man in the grey suit to get out. Her look was stern and unforgiving. He complied. Standing on the other side of the table she waited for Theuss to fall silent again. Both brothers realized that suddenly Rayne was about to handle this situation herself and couldn’t make it her in time.  Pulling the blinders off Theuss she waited for his eyes to adjust. He was still cussing and squinting when she suddenly came into view. Theuss grew silent. “So, my friend and neighbor. Care to tell me what the f**k you are into? Why my f*****g money was traced back to you and Joshua?”  He sat there looking shocked. No words left his lips. She waited a few moments more.  “Well? Now you are silent? Let’s play this game my way. You are gone. The gash on your arm was created to leave blood on the scene of your abduction. You are never going home again and whether you live or die in that chair, depends on your answers. So either spill it or I will take you out.” He laughed heartily at her and spit towards her face. Knowing what was coming next, she locked herself inside with Theuss. Dimitri was out of the observation room and at the locked door in seconds. He shook the handle and called Rayne’s name twice in anger.  Theuss looked at the door with small concern.  “Your knight in shining armor is trying to save you. Don’t you want to let him in? Make it easier for you little momma? Isn’t that what you do spread your legs and get what you want from men?”  Rayne laughed softly and shook her head. Theuss looked at her belly and shook his head. “I will never tell you anything most of all what really happened to Darius. I know everything but I will take it all to my grave if need be. You pretentious slut. I hope you don’t have a girl, the last thing we need is another woman f*****g her way for money. That’s what started this all. Spread your legs, give up Joshua and he lost everything.”  She picked up the other wooden chair in the room and slammed it against the wall. It shattered in several pieces. Nearly half of a wooden leg was laying at her feet. Dimitri was chomping at the bit to get inside that room but had retreated back to the observing room to ensure he could see what was going on.  She held up the half of chair leg in solid wood. “Now. Before we begin are you sure you don’t want to tell me who you are working for? Pain makes people talk but it is also horrific to endure. I want to give you one last opportunity.” He spat at her once more and before he could blink, she slammed the chair leg down on one of his hands and the cracking sound was dreadful.  “YOU b***h! Go f**k yourself, I will never…” Before he could finish, she came down in the same spot again. The tears of pain and anguish flooded his eyes. “Last time, or the other hand gets it. Would hate to live the rest of your life with mangled hands….”  “I worked with Joshua, stupid w***e. Who else do you think…”  The sound of the chair leg slamming into his left shoulder was sickening as it made another cracking sound. She lay the chair leg on the table and leaned in looking at him. Bracing herself with both hands on the table across from him.  “You can call me all you want but you have a very sweet family and they will be left with money or left with nothing. The coolest part is I get to decide. So you tell me who you f*****g work for or they are out on the street in 24 hours and you are going to be mauled in excruciating pain.” She picked up the table leg again and raised it up in the air.  “Fine. f**k. Crazy b***h. I work for the mob.” She laughed and crack, the table leg came down centimeters from his other hand that had yet to be broken. His scream was torturous and he winced. “You are f*****g nuts! Peterman. I work for Peterman. But once he finds out I am missing, Darius will be killed for real this time.”  “Wait what? He isn’t dead? Really?” Rayne said acting like she was clueless.  “Yeah b***h, he has been in a cage for years. And now he will die in one.”  “Funny thing about that. He is already home with me. I know what you let happen to him. I am not doing this for information, my dear friend. I am doing this for vengeance. And you just gave up the only thing I didn’t know. Peterman. Now you are disposable.”  And with that Rayne threw the chair leg on the floor and unlocked the door.  Dimitri and Darius were on her in an instant. She shut the door behind her and looked at her husbands. “What? Why the faces? Did you think for one f*****g second I was going to let that rat bastard get away with not saying anything? You know what…” She turned and barged back in the room.  “One more thing, Detective… Does your wife know?” She stood there waiting to see his reaction. He looked up at her and flipped her off with his one unbroken hand. Striding over to the chair leg and picking it up again she raised it high. He looked at her as if he had nothing to lose. She set the table leg back down. “You know what… you are right. Why ask you. I will just take them and ask them questions the same way I asked you.” She started to storm out the door and he hollered. “No. Wait. Chelsea has no f*****g idea. You leave her alone. She thinks I have just been doing side gigs to gain extra money. My kids and wife are innocent.”  Rayne stood in the doorway, turned slowly and leaned while smiling at him. “If I find out different, you won’t like what I am capable of. Keep that in mind.” She shut the door.  “I want to go home. I need to shower and cry and eat. I might need rough s*x too. This has been a hell of a day.”  Darius snickered slightly and Dimitri turned to the two men in grey suits under his employ. His Greek was flawless.  “Take him and put him where we discussed. Make sure no one sees and he is secure. Text me when you are at location. If he gives you trouble. You know what to do.” They nodded and Dimitri shook both their hands after handing them each a white envelope.  Rayne put her blindfold back on and waited to be led out. Instead she was suddenly swept off her feet and could smell Darius’ cologne.  “You are very sexy when you are the mean interrogation boss. I think I like it.” They both laughed and Dimitri huffed behind them.
