Chapter 8: Punishment

923 Words
(Logan POV) We drove in front of a modern mall and I said ‘Goodbye’ to Leona before coming back to my training grounds. We, vampires, have little effect of age on ourselves, like in my case, I look like a teenager, but actually, my age is about 112 years old. But, no one can guess that I am a century-old vampire. I headed straight to the training ground and started my usual warm-up exercises. I actually enjoy being here, looking at others struggling hard to become strong and increasing their strength. A boy was struggling with his posture while doing kickboxing. I walked toward him and helped him. “Thank you so much, Prince,” he said, and I nodded with a smile before continuing my practice. I spent my whole day there until Leona mind linked to letting me know that they are free now. I picked them up and we drove back home. She started telling me the stories of her shopping adventure and I was just nodding and saying ‘Hmm’ every now and then. We came back home and I parked the car. “You know! You can just go there by using your vampire speed,” I said while giving her a boring look. “Oh, Please Bro! I am tired of going everywhere because of my speed. I wanted to enjoy the journey and it is not a daily thing after all. It is a once in a year thing that I ask you to give me a favor,” She said, and I nodded because no one could win from this girl. She thought it was boring that we had this gift, but I kind of enjoyed it from the day I got it. I walked towards the kitchen and asked my mother to prepare something delicious for me. I turned to look towards the dining hall but father was already present there with an unpleasant look plastered on his face. He gestured to me to come into his office. I nodded but my heart was thudding hard in my chest. “What did I do wrong this time?” I thought and walked towards his office. He never called me into his office to discuss any matter and that’s why I was seriously curious about the matter. I knocked twice on the door before opening the door. He was sitting on his office chair and, without uttering a single word, I stood in front of his office table. “Yes, Father! You called me…” I was about to complete my sentence when he showed the palm of his hand to stop me in midway. I kept my lips shut and started looking at him. “What are you trying to do, Logan?” He asked in a calm tone, but I can clearly feel the suppressed anger behind his calm tone. I didn’t answer his question as I didn’t get what he actually wanted to know. “Let me simplify this for you. What are you trying to do by defying my orders?” He asked, and I looked at him in disbelief. I didn’t defy any of his orders. Why was he asking all this from me? “I think you are mistaken, father. I didn’t defy any of your orders,” I answered with honesty, but he stood up from his seat. “Oh, really! Then can you please tell me that it was not you who crossed the border a few days ago? Tell me, it was not you who dared to take four girls, including your sister Leona, shopping without my permission?” He asked and my heart beating increased. He already knew all the things and here I was thinking that he didn’t know about my mistake. I thought it was a secret, but how wrong was I? He knew everything but he was watching my every move silently and I dared to defy his orders. I know what to expect next…A heavy punishment. “I am sorry, Father,” I said one word and lowered my gaze. I thought of enjoying freedom right under his nose, but I failed in it fully and now, I have to pay the price for this mistake…not a mistake but a crime, because I challenged his authority and he will never forgive me for that. “You should be because you committed a crime. I will try to give you a punishment that will always remind you of this crime and will stop you from further wrongdoings. The punishment will be enough for you to learn your lesson,” he said, and my soul shuddered by sensing the intensity of rage in his eyes. I have no idea what he has in mind, but I know, this punishment will change my life forever. I didn’t say anything in response. I just gave a quick nod to him and left the office. All my family members were present in the dining hall but I had no appetite left. I still joined them because I didn’t want to ruin their meal either. Father also joined us after a few minutes and he was acting as if nothing had happened. Important Note: Hi, Lovely Readers! I hope you all are well.
