First Day

**Scarlett's POV** I could see the sun beaming through my eyelids, and wanted nothing more than to stay exactly how I was. I had no idea why I was so comfortable and content, but I was scared to open my eyes and find it all to be a dream. The only thing that was bothering me a little was that I felt extremely hot, like I was on top of a heater. I took a deep breath and smelled that same scent of fresh leather and a hint of firewood. It was right under my nose.  My eyes flickered open and I immediately saw the handsome face that belonged to Alpha Elijah. He slept soundly on his back, with me draped over his chest. The sheet entangled us both and his arms wrapped securely around me. His touch leaving sparks and warmth where our skin met. I was utterly surprised and therefore paralyzed. I was in his arms and I loved it.  I watched his steady breathing and made the conclusion that he was still asleep. This was something that I would normally not do, but this was such a nice feeling. For this small moment, I embraced this experience. I laid my head gently back down on his chest and closed my eyes, taking in everything. The warmth from his body making mine relax, his scent intoxicating me and making me dizzy, and his heartbeat that was now becoming my favorite song. Who was this man, and why did I felt like I was made to be by his side? I looked down and realized that I was no longer in the black dress I wore to the gathering, but in a feather grey t shirt and plaid grey and black mans boxers. Did he change me? Did he see me naked? I felt nervous and afraid. Did I really sleep so hard that I had no idea he was touching me? I felt my face pale and I felt a little sick. My heart started to race and my breathing became shallow. He had said nothing would happen until I was comfortable, did he lie to me? Was I safe? I sat up abruptly, startling him in the process. He must have noticed my distress because he soon started trying to calm me. "Hey, you are safe here. This will be our bedroom, don't worry I will never make you do anything you are not ready for." "But you already did." I whispered, hugging myself. "These are not my clothes." He seemed confused at first and then suddenly realized what I was talking about. "No. I did not change you. I respect you Scarlett, I would never do that without your permission. I had asked Cathy to come change you." I felt a little ping of hurt and jealousy at the sound of another woman's name coming from his mouth. Then I felt anger. I knew nothing of Elijah, yet I felt like I had some claim on him. Before I could ask who Cathy was, he looked around the bed as if remembering something.  Then he looked back at me and smiled shyly. "I guess we couldn't stay away from each other in our sleep."  Anger was gone and I felt like a girl with a crush. I looked down at my hands, causing my hair to curtain and block my blush. I would have expected him to change the subject and put me out of my misery, but he seemed fascinated that he could get such a reaction out of me. Elijah pulled back my hair and tucked it behind my ear. That same hand caressed down my jawline and then down the side of my neck. I could feel tingles and warmth all over my body. His touch was driving me crazy, and my body wanted so much more.  "Do you feel it too?" He whispered.  I couldn't find my voice, so I nodded slowly. He kept staring into my eyes and then at my lips. I wanted so bad to have some courage and lean in to kiss him, but I held myself back. Thankfully there was a knock at the door. "Who is it?" He called out, his hand still caressing up and down my neck.  "Elijah!" A girl called out. "Open the door, Ely!" He smiled and rolled his eyes as he got out of bed. I felt that same ping earlier and hoped it would not be the same girl he spoke of earlier that changed my clothing. I was not entirely sure how he did things. Would he have me as his bride but have mistresses? I know some wolves do that, especially Alphas, but I was not going to share him. I do not understand but I felt like he belonged to me.  The door swung open and a beautiful girl walked in quickly and sat directly in front of me. She had a huge smile planted on her face, like I was her favorite person in the world. "Cathy, you are going to scare her." So this beautiful girl in front of me was Cathy.  I wanted to be upset with her, but someone as beautiful as her could possibly not be bad. She had wavy light brown hair, full lips, and kind blue eyes. If Elijah had this girl around, why did he bring me here? But my suspicions about her were immediately erased when she introduced herself.  "I am Catherine King. Elijah's favorite sister." She smiled and hugged me.  "My only sister." He mumbled as he walked into the bathroom.  "You can call me Cathy. I am so excited to have a sister in law! Did Elijah tell you that we will be going shopping today. Oh that reminds me!" She turned to the bathroom and called out. "Elijah, Dr. Fills is waiting in you office like you asked." Then she turned back to me. This girl could talk a lot and fast.  "Cathy!" Elijah groaned as he walked out of the bathroom with his toothbrush hanging from his mouth. "Let her breathe or she will be terrified to go with you anywhere today." She stuck her tongue out at him and he chuckled. "If you are up to it, my sister can take you to get you everything you need. Clothes and other necessities. She has my credit card. Little brat keeps sneaking it out of my wallet thinking I won't notice." "I-I can't use your money. Please let me work somewhere and I will save some money to buy my things." Cathy's face paled and she quickly looked away from Elijah. He didn't seem the type to get angry quickly, but her demeanor changed so quickly.  I chanced a look over his way and saw that he was trying to take deep breaths. "Scarlett, you are my bride. I will be taking care of you from now on. You have been doing so much for your grandmother, for once let someone take care of you." My eyes widened at the mention of Granny. How could I forget that she was here? He smiled and continued brushing his teeth. "Buy Josephine some things too, she is also under my care." I nodded quickly. "Good. It is settled. Cathy, maybe you can loan Scarlett something to wear so you both can go shopping. Then please take her to the first floor guest room to see her grandmother. I will be down there in a bit with Dr. Fills." "Right away, Alpha!" She saluted. "Come with me, my room is on the second floor." Catherine grabbed my hand and led me out of Elijah's room, down the hall, down the stairs, and towards her room. As soon as we entered, she sat me on her vanity and went straight into the closet. "You are just a tad bit taller than me and a little more on the curvy side." She called out as I heard her rumbling through her clothes. "I think one of my dresses with a build in bra would be best." She came out of the closet holding an olive green mid thigh summer dress with thin adjustable spaghetti straps. "Try this one on. I just brought it last week, but honestly it did nothing for me." "Um, I don't have any, um-" "Oh!" She chuckled. "Sorry. Top drawer over there, those are all new so don't worry. I have a bit of a shopping problem."  I went to the drawer and picked out a simple cotton thong, and went into the bathroom to change. The dress did fit perfectly after adjusting the straps. I was a little wary of wearing something that showed my bust like this. I mean the girls weren't spilling out, but they were very noticeable. The material hugged me to my waist and slightly flared out. My legs looked long and perfect. I did a little twirl and smiled. I had never owned something so pretty.  "Come on lets see! I think I have the perfect shoes you can borrow!" I heard Cathy call on the other side of the door. I stepped out and she clapped her hands and squealed. "I knew that would look amazing on you! It brings out your eyes too!" She handed me a pair of tan flats with open toes and had a gold chain that wrapped around my ankle. "I have an extra toothbrush under the sink if you want to borrow it. There is face wash too. Once we buy everything you need today, you can have everything set up in your bathroom." Catherine and I spent the next thirty minutes or so talking and getting ready. She would be seventeen in just six months so I was only a few months older than her. We had some of the same interests, playing piano and singing. Even though I haven't sang since my grandmother started feeling ill about two years ago. I haven't touched the piano either, which I miss.  She told me the basics of the structure around here. Elijah has the entire third floor to himself, the second floor is for the beta, which is their brother Maxwell, and for Catherine. The first floor is the living room, game room, offices, kitchen, dining, formal living area, and so on. The place is massive and she promised to give me a tour later. Their parents are in their own little house only a short five minute walk away. When their father had gotten sick he could not climb the stairs and needed to rest often and the pack house was just too busy.  Finally we were ready and we stepped out of her room and walked to the first floor. "How about we check on your grandmother and we can have breakfast served to us in her room." Catherine suggested.  "That sounds great Catherine, thank you." I smiled, but she only grimaced. I laughed at her expression. "What is it?" "Please call me Cathy. Only Elijah calls me Catherine when he is trying to lecture me." She explained and I nodded.  We arrived in front of a door and for some reason I was so nervous. I has not seen my grandmother since I fell asleep on the drive here and wondered how she was settling in. I knocked on the door lightly and then opened it a little. "Granny?" I called. I opened it wider and saw the same guy from last night sitting at the foot of her bed and laughing.  "You behave now young man, you cannot tease an old gal' like me." Granny joked.  "Who is teasing Josephine, you are my kind of woman." He winked at her and she smacked his arm.  They both looked over at Cathy and I and smiled. "Good morning, dear." Granny held out her arms to me. "I was wondering when I would see your face." I went immediately into her arms and held her tight. "It is not like you to allow the sun to rise before you do. That makes me happy, it means you are relaxing and resting well." I pulled away and cupped her face in my hands. "You look well." "Darling, I feel it." She held my cheek. I haven't seen her shine like this in so long.  I turned to introduce Cathy to my granny and I noticed the whole time how the guy was looking at her. Like he was seeing the sun shining directly in front of him and couldn't look away. Anyone with eyes could see he adored her. Loved her.
