Why the Lavenders?

Eloise POV

“When are you resuming school??,” she asked me.

“School?, I have never thought about that,” I said in a soft voice.

“You resume school and complete your graduation Eloise, that would get you a good job. I know you are passionate about getting a good job.” She said with a smile.

“I need to think about that Anna,” I said while smiling.

I thought to myself, I can never fit in this school, everyone here would treat me as an outcast and I would be surrounded by werewolves all the time. My father would never agree to this. Convincing him would be a big task. I can only speak to him about this when he is home. I couldn't tell Anna I was a human as this is a big secret, I don't know how she would react.

I looked at Anna, “would you be by my side if I joined your school?,” i asked her.

“I would always be by yourself Eloise!, why are you asking me this stupid question, dummy,” she said.

“Fine I will join your school next month then,”

Hearing this she gave me a tight hug, “new school, new start!!,”

It's been a month since I moved here, nothing has changed since then but atleast I am living a peaceful life. My grandparents are not interfering in my life and I convinced my father as I wanted to join the new school he agreed as well but with restrictions. I had to get home in time. Everything was going well, until one day while I was cleaning my window I found an envelope stuck in the corner. I took out the envelope and sat on my bed. I opened it and found a smiley drawn on it and there were a few petals of lavinder. It was still fresh. Looked like someone had placed it recently near my window. Should I worry about this, or is this just a prank??. The kids here are notorious and they must have placed it here, I didn't think much about it and placed the note and the petals back in the envelope, crushed it and threw it in the bin. I had to get ready for school as it was my first day today. I wore my blue dress and styled my hair with a blue ribbon. I walked towards the dining room and had breakfast prepared by aunt Grace. I said goodbye. I picked my bag and house keys and rushed towards my bike cycle, to my surprise Anna was waiting for me near my gate with her bicycle, she waved towards me with a smile, i waved back. I was happy to see her and felt relieved that I had to not travel alone to school.

“Good morning,” she said with a smile.

“Morning,” I replied with a small smile. I was nervous, I could feel butterflies in my stomach. I was always considered an outcast and I have no idea what awaits me next.

We both rode our bicycle and drove towards the school. The entire way I couldn't stop thinking about what would happen next.

We soon reached the school, as I entered everyone began staring at me which made me feel uncomfortable. Anna noticed it and placed her one hand on my shoulder, I looked at her and smiled. “You can do this Eloise,” I said to myself.

“I know it would be difficult for you Eloise but I am sure you can do this and you will definitely make new friends.” She said with a smile but I knew the truth. It would take a lot of time for them to accept me. My friend is just trying to make me feel better.

I collected my books from the library and moved towards my class alone as Anna had some important work to do, she would accompany me later. I couldn't face anyone, so I just lowered my head while I walked. Suddenly my head bumped into another person and I lost balance. My books were scattered all over the floor, I rubbed my head with one hand and with the other I began to collect my books.

“watch your step newbie!,” a voice from above said with a stern voice. I lifted my head to see who it was and my eyes widened as I saw him.

His brown eyes, perfectly shaped jawline, pink lips and his messy hair. He looked so perfect, I couldn't take my eyes off him. How can someone look so perfect? He looked at me with a serious look on his face, “I am sorry,” I said in a soft tone.

He didn't reply and moved on with his one hand in his pocket. I then noticed a few girls walking behind him while giggling.

I gathered my books and got up from the floor. With this attitude I guess he is our senior, I thought to myself.

I looked behind and kept staring at him till he disappeared. I am a human girl who doesn't deserve a guy like him in my life. You shouldn't stay in delusion Eloise, come back to reality.

I sighed and walked towards my class. I was greeted by my friend Anna who was waiting for me near the door, she smiled.

“What made you late?,” she asked me.

“I just saw a cute guy, he had these brown eyes, messy hair. He just looked so perfect and I couldn't take my eyes off him,” I told her with a smile and my heart beating faster.

My friend then moved towards me, “I think you are talking about Damen, he is one of the richest werewolves in this school and he is our senior. Every girl in this school is in love with him and they all want to date him one day. One thing weird about him is that he has never dated any girl, and he ignores all the girls in the school. He used to never come to school, he used to rarely attend classes. We all are shocked that he is here today and I heard that he will be attending all the classes today which is so strange” Anna said in a soft voice and deep thought while we walked towards our seats.

He is so cute and girls would love to date him, but I shouldn't concentrate on guys right now, my main aim is to get a good job and settle in a place where I would be accepted. Everyone kept staring at me in that room,as if I was some kind of alien. I could hear girls gossiping about me, just ignore them Eloise and everything will be fine, I said to myself.

A professor entered the classroom and the first thing she did was introduce me to the entire class. I had to give a short introduction about myself, no one was interested, they kept making faces and few of them were fooling around. I could see Anna who had a small smile and she gave me a thumbs up. She was trying to make me feel better. I gave a small smile and took a seat.

Anna moved close to me, “Don't bother about them Eloise, it's your first day at this school just enjoy ur day, you are very beautiful so they are jealous of you, that's the reason why they are behaving wierd” she said while she whispered in my ears.

Anna was right, I shouldn't bother about people.

While the professor was explaining, I noticed the same guy on the school ground, three guys followed him. He looked as if he was in a hurry, I couldn't take my eyes off him. Suddenly he stopped and he looked towards the window where I was seated. He gave me a cold look which sent cold shivers down my spine. I quickly looked away trying to ignore him. “How can you be do dumb Eloise!!,” I said to myself while I hit my head, I am so dumb to stare at someone whom I don't know. Did he recognize me?, does he know that I am a human?, no it can't be!, i am just over thinking but why was he staring at me?. I thought to myself.

Anna was looking at me with a confused look on her face, “What's wrong Eloise??, you seem distracted,” she said in a soft voice.

“Is he still out there on the school grounds??,” I asked her.

Anna looked outside the window and then at me, “Whom are you talking about Eloise??, there is no one out there,” she said with a confused look on her face.

I looked outside the window to confirm it myself, he had disappeared. I sighed a breath of relief.

“What happened Eloise??,” Anna asked me.

I moved closer to her, “I just noticed the popular guy with his friends on the school ground, it seemed as if they were in a hurry heading somewhere,” I said in a soft tone.

Anna's face expression changed, “Eloise, please don't get involved with that guy, he is dangerous and he has a bad past. It would be better if you stayed away from this. He is not a good guy Eloise, I'm sure he is headed to something fishy again, something bad like he always does, he is a rich spoiled bratt. He has his father's hand on his head so he thinks he can do anything and get away from it. So here nobody interferes with him.” Anna said with a concerned look on her face, she looked worried.

Anna knows better as she has been here since childhood and I have moved here recently, i need to take her advice and stay away from suspicious people. This would be better for me. I am a human girl and getting involved in this would mean risk to my life and my father would get into trouble because of me and I cannot let this happen.

Anna and I spent our entire day together, she said that would introduce her best friend who was on leave today. She spoke a lot about him, it seemed as if she had a thing for him. I was eager to meet her crush as well.

It was now time to head home, Anna picked her bag and waited for me near the door. I had to collect my books from my locker. When I opened my locker I found a white envelope. I carefully opened the envelope and discovered a letter in it. I opened the letter and found a few petals of lavender and a smiley. My heart started beating faster, I looked around but there was no one present there. It was difficult for anyone to figure out what my password was, so how can anyone open my locker. I crushed the paper and threw it in the bin, Who is this i***t who is doing this?, playing stupid pranks!!, I hardly know anyone here. Why is an anonymous person troubling me by sending me these notes and why the lavender???.

I cannot understand what is happening!!!, should I tell Anna about this?, no Eloise you can't, i don't want her to be worried. I changed my locker's password and carried my books and moved towards Anna who was waiting for me.

“Everything okay Eloise?,” she asked me.

“Yes,” I said with a small fake smile.

“Let's go home,” she said as she placed her hand around my shoulders.

We walked towards our bicycle, and suddenly I noticed something moving in the bush. There's something in the bush and I have a strange feeling about this, I was trying to figure out what was in the bushes. I moved towards it but was stopped by Anna.

“Where are you going, Eloise?,” she asked me.

“Anna, I feel like there is something strange there,” I said my eyes fixed at the bushes

“I don't think there is anyone there Eloise, let's just go home I am very tired,” she said as she sat on her bicycle.

“Give me a minute Anna,”

She sighed, “Let me know if you found anyone, I am telling you there is no there,” she said.

“Lets see,” saying that I moved towards the bushes, and my eyes widened at what I saw next.

A white envelope was lying in the dry leaves. My heart started pounding again. I looked around but there was no one present there except me and Anna.

I picked up the envelope and dumped it in my bag and ran towards Anna.

Anna got off of her bicycle and ran towards me, “is everything okay Eloise??, you look tense,” she said with a worried look on her face.

I gave her a fake smile, I wanted to tell what was happening to me but I couldn't. I was so scared right now, so many thoughts were running in my mind and now I'm sure that someone is stalking me. “Nothing is wrong,” I said with a soft voice.

“You were right there is no one there,” I said, trying my best to act normal.

“Are you sure Eloise??,” she asked.

“Yes Anna,” I said while I moved towards my bicycle.

I sat on it and drove towards the gate, Anna followed me behind.

“Eloise you can share anything with me, please don't hide anything from me,” she said.

Even without telling she could understand that there is something off. You need to pretend to be normal Eloise, you cannot let her have a doubt!!!. The entire way I kept thinking about the envelopes which I received from the anonymous person, why just a smiley and a few petals of lavender. how can I figure out what that person actually wants?. I need to find out who this person is but how am I going to do this??. I would need help but I cannot ask help from anyone here. I will need to figure this out myself. I dropped Anna to her place and began to head towards mine. It was already dark and I was scared. Different thoughts kept running in my mind. What if that person wants to kill me but what benefits would they get if they killed me. I am just a normal human girl. What if they know I am a human and are trying to harm me and my father???. I reached my place after a few minutes which felt like eternity. I noticed my father sitting near the door. Is Aunt Gracy is not home?, Didn't he carry the house keys??,

I parked my bicycle and walked towards him.

“Hi dad,” I said in a soft voice.

He gave me a smile and hugged me gently, “I thought of returning home early as today was your first day at school. I want to ask you so many things, let's talk inside. I have already prepared dinner”. He said with a smile.

“You could wait for me inside?,” i said in a soft voice.

He didn't reply and walked towards the dining room. “

“Aunt Grace had some work so she wouldn't be here for a few days, can you manage without her?, he asked me

“Yeah, you don't need to worry about me dad. I can take care of myself,” I said in a soft voice.

“Dad I asked you a question and I'm waiting for an answer,” i said in a soft and polite voice while I followed him behind.

He didn't reply but his silence answered my question, he was worried about me. After so many years my father was worried about me. It was just my mom who used to care for me. I never knew that my dad cared as well.

I took a seat near the table and my father began to serve me, he looked happy which brought a smile to my face. I have never seen this side of my father. He was trying to fill the absence of my mother.

“You look happy today?,” I said with a small smile.

“Yess,” he said.

I didn't ask him the reason because I knew I would never get an answer to my question. Whenever I questioned my father he would never answer my questions.

I told him everything that happened today at school except the part about Damen, the rich popular wolf and the anonymous envelopes.
