Chapter Two

Autumn

We stopped only to fuel up and grab something to eat then we were back on the road. We had been driving all day it was around eight pm.

I stayed riding with Zack dad drove the moving truck while mom drove our SUV.

I had kept drifting off to sleep while we drove. I couldn't help it when we travel car rides always made me sleepy. I feel a tap on my arm look over I see Zach starting at me he has his phone in his hand. I grab it to see there was a message pulled up it was from dad saying he wants to stop for the night.

I look over at Zach he nods so I quickly type back a response letting him know we were good to stop.

I feel Zach's phone vibrate looking down I seen dad had messaged back saying to find a spot he didn't care so I just sent him a thumbs up. I showed Zach the message he just nodded his head.

He drove for a little while longer seeing a hotel up ahead we pulled off the highway into the parking lot. I was happy to get out an stretch my legs.

Stepping out I raised my arms above my head stretching. Dad parked next to us he stepped out I seen him say something to Zach. He then turned walking toward the door that said office.

Mom came over standing next to me she rubs my back, I turn to look at her she offers me a smile. I felt I needed to walk around sitting in that car definitely made my legs feel cramped. I seen a crossed the street was a little stripe of stores along with a small gas station.

Looking to mom I sign to her.

"I'm gonna walk about," I point to the stores she looks then looks back to me.

"Okay just be careful take your phone," She signs back I smile giving her a nod holding my phone showing her I had it.

I glace over to Zach he nods his head at me.

I walk across the parking lot checking for vehicle before I jogged across the street towards the stores. I walked around the stores just looking actually enjoying being able to move after the long ride. I know it was getting super late I noticed the stores starting to close up.

My phone vibrate I looked at it I seen mom messaged me telling me the room number I sent her a quick okay.

I walked to the gas station figured I'd get a drink then head back over to the hotel I know dad wants to be up and moving early again but with me sleeping on and off all day I was quite ready to sleep yet.

Pulling the door open to the store I walked in heading towards the back looking for what I wanted.

Grabbing the drink I wanted I walked back up front I noticed a group of guys standing there talking to the cashier when one turn to look at me. Just one glace and the way he looked at me made my skin crawl. He nudge the guy next to him he as well turned they both looked at me I wasn't liking their looks,

They all walked out the door I put my drink on the counter the guy cashed me out.

I walked out the door seeing all them standing off the the side I just ignored them started my walk back to the hotel. When I was about to turn the corner following the numbers on the door I was suddenly grabbed from behind.

Letting out a scream I started kicking and swinging my arms. They smelled of alcohol. I was spun around looking at the other guys I could see their mouths moving but I was trying to get out of his hold. I kept kicking and swing my arms trying to get him to let go as well as yelling I may have no hearing but I still can talk and scream.

Suddenly his hold loosen and he let go completely I fell to my knees bracing myself with my hands. I look up seeing they all had a frozen look on their faces.

When I over my shoulder I seen Zach had the guy by his neck holding him in the air. Zach's face was red with anger his eyes looked like they were black. Zach has always been protective of me all threw school no one dared to pick on me or try bullying me once they knew who my brother was they stayed clear.

I got up to move away when arms wrapped around me again I screamed kicking again.

I feel hands cup my face I opened my eyes to see my dad standing there I threw myself at him wrapping my arms around it neck he held me tight to him.

I felt my dad talking but I didn't look up I kept my face pressed again his shoulder eyes closed.

When I felt another hand on my back I finally opened my eyes looking over I seen it was my brother. His face had a worried look and I could see the concern in his eyes. Dad set me down I pulled my arms back hugging myself he wrapped his arm around my should tugging me against his side we walked to the room.

When we reached our room mom was outside the door pacing once she seen me a look if relief flashed on her face.

I ran to my mom she engulfed me in a hug.

Mom lead me into the room sitting me down on the bed Dad And Zach walked behind us. I was crying I've never had that happen to me I was so scared tears were running down my face. Mom wiped them away. Dad stood behind Mom I seen him lift his hands.

"What happen?" He asked

I knew it be hard for me to sign seeing how I'm still shaking hard. So I decided to talk to explain.

"I went to the gas station to get a drink they were there talking to the clerk, When I left they were outside standing I just ignored them and started walking here, when I got to the backside of the building that's when I felt the guy grab me,"

I couldn't help but start to cry harder. Mom hugged me rubbing my back.

I looked to Zach he had that look as if he was gonna got back out and kill that guy.

Dad looked to Zach they seemed to be have a conversation with out saying anything. Zach nodded an walked out the room shutting the door.

Mom sat back looking at me she pointed to the bathroom. I stood up heading that way mom right behind me I stepped in she grabbed the handle but before she closed it she mouthed to me.

"I'll get you some clothes"

Shaking my head yes so she knew I understand she closed the door. I turned the shower on letting the water warm up I stripped my clothes off I noticed I had to small bruises on my arms were I had been grab. My skin is so light complected I bruise so easily I also burn super fast when I'm out in the sun.

I step into the shower letting the water wash away that guys touch it made my skin crawl.

Getting done I stepped to see clothes on the sink mom must have brought them in for me.

Getting changed I went out walking over to the one bed I laid down curling up pulling the covers up to my chin. I noticed my phone and the drink I bought on the stand I had dropped them.

Mom came over kneeling down brushing the hair off my face. pulling my hands out from under the covers I sign to my mom.

"What was with dad and Zach? Why did Zach leave?"

I see her tense up a bit but then she recovered.

"Zach just went to make sure they left he will be back," She signed to me.

"But dad just looked at him it's like they were talking with out speaking" I asked her.

"No no it's just a father son thing hunnie dad's upset about what happen so Zach just understood by your dad looking at him that's all," She signed to me.

I knew that's wasn't completely true but I was to tired now to ask or argue so I just nodded my head she pulled the blanket up to my chin kissing my forehead.

I closed my eyes just wanting to sleep it all off.
