Chapter 7

There, stood Alpha Keith. He walked toward them after they halted. "We are sorry, this year's meeting has been adjourned for further notice. There was an accident regarding one of the top Alphas, he and his mate had a collision bond and they had been taken to the hospital. We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause," he announced with bow respect. They exhibited no surprise or shock expression because they already knew. An angry grin crept on their faces, this was a result of their mate who kept running away from them. "You, mere werewolves, never plan and succeed, ever. That is why we find it hard to attend any meeting." Alan confessed, feeling bleak. "We are sorry, this won't happen again, I promise," while he was pleading, the scent came again, meeting their nose and they sniffed simultaneously as their wolves snorted aloud. They both ignored the talking Alpha Keith and ran toward the beach where the scent was coming from, trudging without an answer to their names being called by their Beta and Alpha Keith. Alpha Keith decided to wobble behind them and he did. Beta Ben also followed. They were thwarted when the scent stopped and they decided to find her dress and strolled where they had left it, but it was gone. "She had taken her dress," Alan uttered. "Where could she go?" Alex inquired. Alpha Keith halted and exhaled at the race he had just subjected himself to, he had run so fast that his breath was being taken. He heard Alex's question and before Alan could find the will to respond, he responded behind them. "Who?" "Our mate..." Alan sombered but broke off when his gaze caught a diamond and he shimmered as the diamond glittered to his eyes, he sauntered to it and picked it up. "This must be hers," he said as he strolled toward Alex and showed it to him. "This is Luna Mara's necklace," Alpha Keith said the moment his eyes caught a gaze of it. They both swiveled to him, alarmed and pouted. "Luna Mara...she is a Luna already?" Alex said immediately. "Aye! She is a chosen mate of Alpha Ryker of the Black Moon pack, but Alpha Ryker just met his true mate. In fact, they were the ones who got sick before we could start the meeting," Alpha Keith asserted. "s**t!" Alan sprouted "f**k!" Alex scowled The shocking news was really annoying Alex. She was Luna. Was it the reason why she always ran away? Was it the reason why she never wanted to meet them? He thought. "Are you sure of this?" Alex asked. "Hundred percent," Alpha Keith affirmed. "Let go!" Alex said, trying to move past Alpha Keith, but Alan halted him. "To where?" Alan asserted, blocking his path. "To find her!" Alex replied. "We handle this with care, remember," Alan said and Alex nodded. He understood the meaning of their saying and had got his motive. "We will be talking about this with you, we will return it to her later," Alan said to Alpha Keith. "No problem," They left afterward with her necklace. Lydia and Mara walked out of the Bengals trees that shaded her scent for her new mates. The moment Ryker wolf went mad as a result of Mina's being sick, the rowdy section where an Omega had seen Mina's body motionless on the ground, and the announcement of the meeting adjournment, she had gone searching for Mara. She already knew that the Lycan kings had arrived and she knew Mara might hide from them. The only place Lydia could think of was the beach, Mara loved to swim and she could stay in the water for minutes. The moment she got to the beach was the time Alan and Alex were holding Mara's dress. She was able to hide and She heard all that they uttered. It was shocking to hear that Mara was their mate, not only one of them but both of them. But she knew better than to be happy, Mara could never accept their bond because they were Lycans. She watched them leave and mind-linked Mara, decoding that she was out of danger. Mara raised her head from the water and gripped for breath. She had been in the water for the past twenty minutes, it seemed that her brain would chip out any moment and her mouth had gone sour. She had inhaled a lot of water that she thought she might die inside. Lydia hopped into the water to help her out and she collapsed on the sand. The beach was made with a lot of amusement and it looked like a modern swimming pool. There were tents, bunks, cave sand, tall trees, and more. Its San was nice to step on but it was a natural beach that followed beach rules and trends. "The Lycans..." Mara tried to explain but coughed out water instead. Lydia calmed her down. "Calm down, Nothing to worry about, they just left," All her frail was suddenly gone, and she sat down naked on the beach sand. "We need to leave. They might find you because of your scent," Mara hurried up with Lydia's help and put on her clothes. They decided to leave and had just taken some steps when Mara smelt the scent again making her uneasy. "They are coming," she whispered into Lydra and she led her toward a Bengals tree. The Bengals tree was a plant that could stop the scents from being smelt by the mates. But Mara's necklace had fallen when she was putting on her dress and they couldn't pick it up when they saw the Lycan kings hurrying toward them. They quickly hid and Lydia made sure the scent was well covered. They heard all that they said and Alpha Keith's words, this made the matter clearer to Mara but still, she couldn't accept them as her mate. They came out after making sure the Lycan kings had left with her necklace. "How am I gonna get that necklace?" Mara asked Lydia. "Hmm, that will give them the motive to find you. They know that the diamond is very important to you and you will wanna want it back. They want you to come willing," Lydia explained. Mara knew but the necklace was the pack's treasure and not hers, she knew it could be hard to get it back, and if actually, it was true They got to the pack and into Mara's room. Mara strode through and forth like a giant warrior in her room while Lydia sat down on the bed, sighing and watching her pondering. "I think you need to go to them, that is the only way," Lydia said, breaking the silence. "You know that can't be. My father warned me against going to them for anything. I just can't disobey him," she explained and Lydia nodded. "Agreed, but remember it was your father's wish to find Mina and bring her closer to you, do you know the height of the drench you felt? Now, she has taken over your man, even intended to kill you twice...." Lydia said to convince her but she cut her shut. "Are you telling me that I was a fool all along?" she questioned but Lydia raised a brow. "How could I say that? You want a divorce and your father's pack. Do you know that Alpha Ryker will never allow you to go? Only the Lycan Kings can help out," "I can't go to them," Mara maintained. Lydia stood up after seeing Mara was so adamant. "I need to go, I am starving. Let's go and eat," she said and Mara nodded slowly. She knew Lydia was right. She would need the assistance of the Lycan Kings to get back her father's pack and also his seat. "I need to see Ryker," she said instead. "Okay, I will prepare you some delicious food," Lydia said with a smile. "Yeah!" Mara walked toward Ryker's Cabin. The moment she got to the door, she remembered the day she caught Ryker and Mina and this sent some anger into her. She opened the door but a loud argument met her ears. She knew who it was, Leo, Ryker's Beta. "Why is it hard to reject her, Ryker? You are at fault here, whether she is your mate or not she Is sick, we all know that." Leo burst into anger. "What are you insinuating?" Ryker's voice sounded raw and Mara wondered how he was fine again. "Reject her before she kills you with pain!" "I can't! I can't!! Do you think it is that easy," Ryker said looking like a puffed balloon "Who is she that you find hard to reject? You are hurting, Mara, do you think she likes all this? Certain no, she only did all that to please you, but you abandoned her," "I don't, Mara will be okay as long as she accommodates Mina," "I have heard enough of this bullshit," Leo said and ambled out of the door. He met Mara eavesdropping on their discussion. "This will be over soon," his mind linked her and she nodded. He left her standing, staring at Ryker's studying room door. She pondered on whether to leave or go in and tell Ryker that he should go to hell, but she stood unable to move. The door opened, and Ryker walked out and saw her, he was startled and almost fell. "What are you doing here?" He stammered after composing himself. "I can't visit my husband's room anymore," she snapped and a dreary look came from his face. "I ain't insinuating that, but..." he hesitated and Mara gazed at him, their eyes met. "Ryker, I know you as a straightforward person but here, you suddenly become so frail and a liar. Isn't the disgrace you are succumbing the pack to, not enough? A whole Alpha ran mad in a meeting because of a bond which He could easily reject," she stated, a smirk howling on her face, waiting for a response, folding her arms. "I know you want me to reject her, even if I want to, I can't. My wolf and hers are bonded. I can't do without having s*x with her in a day and she..." a slap landed on his face, just then the door opened and...
