The consignment

Brandon laughed for a while, but suddenly he stopped laughing and his face darkened. Mollie staggered back in fear to see his villainous look. He came closer to her and threatened “You better be careful then. If you don’t agree with this marriage then I will throw you to that man forcefully and don’t think that I can’t do that.” He turned and walked to his car. Within a minute, his Bentley exited the parking lot of the hospital. Gnashing her teeth, Mollie leered at the back of the moving car. Phillip just reached there and saw Brandon with Mollie. By their expressions, it was clear that they were pissed off with each other. He was wondering what they were talking about so seriously. Dumbfounded, he looked at the car that exited through the hospital gate. Mollie pulled back her gaze and turning around, she started walking inside. Just as she took two steps she heard Phillip calling her “Miss Taylor.” Startled, Mollie flinched and turned to look at him. She was stupefied to see Phillip there. Suddenly a fear emerged in her mind thinking that Elijah might have attempted suicide again. She asked in a petrified tone “What happened? Is Mr. Smith alright?” Phillip chuckled and said “He is fine. I have come to see your mother. How is she now?” Mollie was shocked as well as puzzled and couldn’t close her mouth. This was beyond her imagination. She never thought that he would come to check her mother in the hospital. After a while, she regained her composer and said “She needs surgery. Um… why are we standing here and talking? Let’s go inside.” Phillip nodded and followed her. On the way, he asked, “Do you know Mr. Brandon Carter?” Mollie’s heart sank and her steps froze on the spot. This was the thing she never wanted to disclose to anyone. Phillip also stopped walking and frowned slightly to see her pale face. He looked at her attentively and felt something wrong. He couldn’t help but ask again “You know him? Is there any problem?” Mollie regained her senses and shaking her head, she denied “I don’t know him. I just bumped into him and he got irritated. That’s all.” “Oh…” It turned out that he was overthinking. Mollie started walking ahead without talking further while Phillip trailed behind her. Once they reached the ward, he chatted with Marina for a while. Then he gave some money to Mollie and came out. Mollie followed him to see off and thanked him for coming from the bottom of her heart. Phillip said “If you need anything else then don’t hesitate to call me. By the way, have you arranged the money for surgery?” Mollie’s face turned pale and lowered her head. She wanted to reveal about her condition but she was feeling a little shy to ask for money from him. She lifted her head and tried to smile a little, saying “Yes, um…I will arrange it.” “Hmm… you should. OK, I am leaving now. Take care.” He turned and left but just as he walked a few steps, he heard her calling from behind “Mr. Russel, wait for a moment.” Phillip halted his steps and turned around. His eyebrows creased tightly to see Mollie, running towards him. “Do you want anything?” He asked and looked at her inquisitively. Bowing her head, she bit her lower lip and started saying after a moment of hesitation “I actually wanted to talk to Mr. Smith. Is it OK if I come tomorrow?” Phillip frowned even more deeply and tilting his head, he peered at her for a while. He was pondering why she wished to meet Elijah all of a sudden. What was going on in her mind? Then he realized she must be lacking money for the surgery and must be thinking of asking for help from his boss. He eased up his creased eyebrows and said “OK, come tomorrow early morning, before 9.” After finished speaking, he turned and left. Mollie looked at his back for a while before going back to the ward. Bruno was looking at the laptop screen attentively in the closed study room, eyebrows knitted tight. Suddenly a voice came out of the headphone that he was putting on. It was the voice of the drug lord. He was the most powerful and dangerous man in the crime world. No one had ever seen his face yet. Only they heard his weird voice. It sounded like talking into a tube. Bruno’s brows furrowed and his eyes widened in shock. He knew that the deal was very big but he didn’t know that it was with him. “We are ready to deliver the consignment tomorrow. You can find the fresh fishes in batch number 44. I hope you are ready to take the delivery.” “Yes, we are.” Damian Cox’s cold voice rang in the headphone. The call ended immediately after that, but Bruno was yet to recover from the shock. This drug lord’s name was ‘Viper’ and for a long time, this name buzzed in his mind. He knew that the deal was very big but he had no idea that it was with him. He never thought that Damian Cox’s root was so deep. At that moment, he couldn’t help but tremble in horror. If somehow ‘Viper’ found out that he was the one behind the failure of this d*******l then he would never leave him. He had the capacity to deal with Damian Cox but ‘Viper’… he was not sure. How could you fight with the shadow? There was no clear information about ‘Viper’. No one knew anything about where did he come from, when and how would he come and where would he disappear. But would he sit back quietly fearing ‘Viper’ and would not take revenge from Damian Cox? How could that be possible? “So what if ‘Viper’ is dangerous? I am smart too.” Bruno mumbled and the corner of his lips curled up gradually thinking that if this deal failed then ‘Viper’ would wipe out Damian Cox’s existence from the face of the earth. Now he needed to inform the police about this deal. Then he recalled their conversation and his expression turned pensive. For a while, he couldn’t understand where they were going to deal. The time was short and he was not able to find out any clue. He wrote down a few words like ‘consignment, fresh fish, batch 44’ and peered on those words written on a paper. His eyes sparkled and a wicked smile appeared on his face. Then he picked up his phone and typed a number. This was officer Dante’s phone number who was a detective inspector in the narcotics department of the capital city. He vowed to wipe out the drug mafia from the capital city. In the past two years, he had caught countless drug dealings and persons involved in this. Because of him, drug dealing had become difficult in the city. Bruno also escaped many times from his grip and thus the officer Dante was his arch-rival in his past life, but now he was the only one who could fulfill his wish. After looking at the screen for a while, he finally dialed the number. Officer Dante was driving the car and was heading to his home when he heard his phone ringing. He frowned to see the ‘private number’ displayed on the screen. He parked the car on the roadside and pressed the answer button. He didn’t say a single word and only kept the phone in his ear, eyebrows creased tight. A deep male voice came out of the phone “Listen carefully. I won’t repeat it again. Secret drug dealing is going to happen tomorrow on the dock. Look for the fresh fish, batch number 44.” The call ended immediately before officer Dante could know anything properly. He pulled out the phone from his ear and gazed at it for a few moments in shock, eyes wide opened. After regaining his senses, he turned the car and headed to the office again. On the way, he called and commanded to prepare a team to watch on all the docks of the capital city where fishes were delivered and also instructed to prepare a team to stop the deal. On the other end, after disconnecting the call, Bruno leaned back on the wheelchair and muttered “Damian Cox, your destruction begins now.” Bruno was so excited that he couldn’t sleep the entire night and waited for the dawn to break. If the police could stop this deal then the news would be flooded in all the news channels of the entire country ‘A’. There were three docks in the capital city. One was the main port where passengers and goods were boarded and the other two were comparatively smaller, only for loading and unloading goods. Three teams were sent to each of the docks and officer Dante was leading the team of twenty members who came to the main port. They were scattered in every corner of the dock. According to his intuition, the deal would take place in the busy port as it was easy to disguise the police. But this time Dante was also prepared. At around 4 in the morning, two ships arrived at the dock one after another, and all of them came to an alert. Every exit point was sealed and each passenger and the package was checked thoroughly, but there was no sign on batch number 44. Time was passing bit by bit and Dante became impatient in every passing minute. At that time, he doubted that the deal was not going to happen there. It might be happening in one of the other two docks. He called to the other two officers who were leading their teams and both of them told that there was no activity yet. They started doubting that someone might have pranked officer Dante. Dante was very frustrated and was also angry at the same time, but still, he commanded “We can’t take it lightly. Keep your eyes open. We will look for another two hours.” Another hour had passed without any luck. All of the team members were losing hope. Just then Dante’s phone rang and he looked at the screen only to see the number of the officer who went to the smallest dock of the capital city. The moment Dante answered the call he heard the officer’s low voice “One boat is coming. I think the consignment is here. Several cars are coming in the dock. I need reinforcement.”
