I sat in his office looking to the door. I used my wolf hearing to listen at what was on the other side but all I got back was silence. I stood up and began pacing across Ashers office. I heard the door knob turn and Asher walked in "I apologize. I had to make a quick phone call to my boss."
My heart fell into my stomach and I felt like I couldn't breathe suddenly. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out of my lips. A panic must of swept across my face because Asher was standing over me with a soft "Shh" sound. "I am sorry, I should of explained this better. You see my boss is Ryker not Grant. I was sent to this pack on a special mission of helping you." He smiled down to me.
"What do you mean?" I gave him a confusing look.
He nodded and led me to the chair. I sat down waiting for him to talk. "So I haven't always been a member of Blood Moon, but I am sure you've guessed that by now. Eight years ago in Green Woodland Pack we were made aware that our future Luna was going to be in grave danger. It was appointed to me, to watch over her, protect her, teach her how to protect her own self when the time was right."
My mouth dropped as he sat and studied me, "So what are you saying?"
He smiled and kneeled down in front of me, "Miss Anna, I have to now, more than ever, protect you. Show you how to protect yourself properly. You are our future Luna of Green Woodland and Grant is a dangerous wolf. You must be protected at all costs."
"Wait. Where is Grant?" Panic rose in my voice and I looked back to the door.
"Ryker created a diversion with a few warriors on the borderline that called for Grants attention. This allowed me to get the information from you that we needed. Ryker wants nothing but to protect you, but seeing how you're still 17, he can't just take you away. Laws and rules don't allow this. Which is why I am here." He stood and walked around to his side of the desk and looked through some papers. "We will start training at 6am tomorrow morning. Finish around 9am. I will show you all I can within a week."
I nodded "Only a week? Will that even be enough time?"
"You will end up surprising yourself. You're stronger than you give yourself credit for. You are also pretty special, but you'll find out more on that sooner or later." He walked around the desk and leaned against it, "But you best get going he should be back soon."
"Of course, thank you for everything Asher. I really appreciate it and look forward to learning all I can with you. If we need to extend the times, I would be more than happy to stay later." I headed for the door.
"We shall see after tomorrow. Have a great afternoon Miss Anna." He smiled and I walked out the door. I ran right into Grant.
"Hello my sweet, done for today?" He looked down at me.
"Oh yes we went over things we are going to be doing for the next week." I smiled to myself.
"Oh yeah? Remember that on your birthday we are going on a trip." He wrapped his arms around me and pushed me into the wall. A growl ripped through his chest as he nuzzled his nose into the crook of my neck. I stood there and my stomach turned. I just had to hold it all together. "Dinner tonight still?"
"Sure I need to shower and get ready. What time should I meet you?" I patted his arm, slightly nudging him backwards.
"How about six?" His fingers ran along my jaw line and kissed my forehead.
"Sounds good." I squeezed past him and walked off.
I hurried down the hall and I heard footsteps behind me. I knew he was following me to make sure I wasn't stopping around and lying to him. I reached the stairs and walked up them reaching the floor that my room was on. I walked to my room and shut the door and locked it. I walked to my bathroom and took a shower, getting ready. I did light make up and straightened my hair. I put on a pair of pants and a button up shirt. I laid back on my bed letting the time pass.
So much information and things have happened in the last few days I haven't had time to process things. I was excited about tomorrow and learning defense and fighting techniques. My alarm went off at 5:50 and I sat up in my bed and stood, walking out of my bedroom.
I walked down the steps and like always Grant was waiting down at the bottom of the steps. He took my hand and pulled me along side of him. "We are meeting my parents tonight and discussing my Alpha ceremony."
"Oh, really? That sounds like fun." I looked at his car as we approached it, showing no emotion in my face.
"I could use your help planning it. It's the week after your birthday." He opened the door to his SUV.
I got in and buckled up watching as he walked around the vehicle and got inside. His started it up and placed his hand on my upper thigh. I tensed up and looked down at it. He rubbed the top of it as we pulled out of the driveway. "Relax my sweet. You're way too tense." His hand stilled and we rode in silence.
As we pulled into the parking lot I looked over and seen the Alpha and Luna walking hand in hand to the door of the restaurant. "They own this place." He pulled into a parking spot. I jumped out before he could come around. He grabbed my hand and looked me in the eyes with a serious look on his face "My mother and father believe that you are my true mate. They do not know that I rejected that pathetic excuse of a self absorbed she-wolf. You will do well to remember to not say anything."
"I won't say anything Grant. I promise." I looked down to the ground.
He tipped my head up to look at him, "Thats a good girl. Let's go."
Dinner with his mom and dad went pretty smooth. We discussed the Alpha ceremony and my Luna ceremony. We figured out what would be served and decorations. His mom was so thrilled that I was his "mate." It took everything in me to not call out how insane their son was, how doomed the pack was going to be, and everything in between. I didn't say anything just like Asher had told me. Keep it as normal as possible.
On the way back to the packhouse he brought up tomorrow's training, "If Asher is too rough you let me know. I can't have him injuring you, my sweet."
"I think I'll be fine. He said first day was going to be hard but easy." I shrugged annoyed that he thought I was a delicate little flower.
We pulled into the house and we both exited the vehicle. Walking up to the house he opened the front door for me. We walked in and Asher was waiting at the stairs, he bowed when he seen us. "Sir, may I steal her for a moment I have some things that she will need to wear before we start tomorrow and I want to make sure they're fitted to her."
He nodded to Asher and kissed my cheek, "Enjoy your training." He turned and walked up the stairs.
Asher led me to his office and handed me some gear. "These could of waited until tomorrow but I wanted to save you a little bit of trouble this evening." He smiled down to me. Ryker also sends his regards. Its taking him everything to not come in here and slaughter his cousin." He frowned.
"Thank you, Asher. I really appreciate everything you are both doing for me. But I best be going off to bed, as should you. Five a.m. comes early you know?" I walked to the door and turned "Good night and if you speak to Ryker tell him I said I got this." I walked out the door and headed for my room.
I sat down the gear and changed into my pajamas. I walked into my bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth. I pulled my hair into a messy bun. I sat my alarm and crawled into bed and cuddled into my body pillow and drifted off to sleep.
I woke before my alarm and got myself ready. I took my gear and went down the stairs and into the kitchen. I picked up my coffee cup and filled it to my liking and made some toast. I sat down in a chair, enjoying the rare quietness in the house. It's generally always busy, but I was up before everyone and had some alone time to myself before training. Just as I finished Asher came strolling into the kitchen "I thought I smelled coffee. Ready?" He cracked his knuckle and grinned.
I stood up and nodded and looked at him determined, "Ready! Let's learn how to kick some a**."
