chapter 2: The good luck charm

Bryan’s pov

I was at home in the office with my father when he got a call from the school. I could hear Julie’s voice as she was talking about Sabrina and her daughter.

“Again?” my father said.

I was a little surprised because Sabrina is always so sweet and shy all the time, I didn’t realise that my mate was a little troublemaker.

See when I turned 18 years which was 3 years ago I found out that Sabrina is my mate, but at that time she was only 13 years old. Which is why I decided to keep it to myself, it would be unfair for me to take away her childhood.

She still has so much to experience, imagine a 13 year old being told that her mate is the Alpha Prince and future King. The pressure it would have on her, back then when this was discovered the girl would be forced to live with her mate.

So, when I found out I didn’t tell anyone, but I kept it to myself, she deserves to have fun without the burden of being faithful.

But I have seen it, the older she gets the more the mate bond keeps pulling her towards me. She thinks whatever she feels towards me is a little crush, but I know the truth, that it’s the mate bond at work.

“Those two are going to get it this time.” my father said the moment Julie hang up the phone.

“What did they do?” I asked him.

He just shrugged, “what they always do, cause trouble.” was his response.

“I will go and deal with them, you stay here and just finish whatever it is you were doing.” I said to him, and he smiled.

I quickly took the car keys and drove to school, the moment I got there I didn’t even need to ask where Julie’s office is.

Her scent hit my noise and I just followed it, well my little mate is all grown up now and causing trouble.

As I was getting closer to Julie and my mate I could hear their voices.

“Why did you beat her up this time?” Julie asked them.

“Because that bimbo said that Bryan isn’t fit to be King, it just made me so angry. how dare she say something mean about Bryan, he is going to be one of the greatest King to ever walk this land.” Sabrina replied to the question.

Even though she was angry her voice was still gentle and innocent, maybe because she is my mate I find everything about her innocent.

I couldn’t help but smile when I realised that she got into a fight because she was defending my honour.

The mate bond is truly a remarkable thing, she doesn’t even realise it and she isn’t even the right age yet but its already affecting her.

She can’t bear to hear anything against her mate the same way I can’t bear to hear people say anything bad about her.

I knocked on the door and Julie told me to come in, the moment I opened the door I could see that she wasn’t expecting me.

she looked so scared upon seeing me and I didn’t like it at all, I like it when she looks at me and blush but not fear.

“I am here for these two.” I said in a monotone and Julie didn’t say anything but nodded.

I walked out knowing that they would be right behind me.

They were so quiet, but their heartbeats told me that they were scared of what I might do to them, but I couldn’t punish my mate.

I knew very well that fighting amongst each other Is forbidden but she is an exception. She could beat up every child in that school and I wouldn’t be able to punish her, I would never hurt my mate in any way.

They got into the car, and I started driving, I knew that if I drove them home immediately my father would know that I didn’t punish them, and he would do it himself.

So, I need something to do to push time, I have always wanted to take her to a date, and this is a perfect opportunity.

I started driving to the cinema and when I stopped they looked at each other confused.

“Bryan, this is the cinema.” Sabrina said.

Her cute blue eyes confused, and I found myself unable to hold back my smile, so I just looked the other way, so they don’t notice.

“I know.” I said and made sure that my voice didn’t give out how nervous I was about this, I really hope that she likes the movie.

“So, what are we doing at the movies exactly?” Mel asked.

“I was going to watch this movie before I was called because of you two. I wont let your misbehaving be the reason I miss the movie.” I said, and they nodded.

“So, where are going to watch the movie with you?” Sabrina asked, her blue eyes sparkling with hope, and I nodded and then she smiled.

“Ohhh, I can’t, I have an appointment today with my nailist.” the other girl Mel said, and I saw Sabrina look at her confused.

“Nailist?” she asked.

The girl nodded, “yes Sabrina, you two enjoy the movie.” she said and ran before Sabrina could object.

I realised that she did it because she wanted to leave me and Sabrina alone and that now made her my second favourite person in the world.

Sabrina looked at me and blushed, “well, I guess its just me and you.” she whispered and then looked at her feet.

“Shall we go?” I asked her and she followed me as I bought the tickets and the snacks.

“ohhh, Dr strange, I have always wanted to see this movie.” she said with a smile and almost jumped with joy.

I picked this movie especially for her, she loves the comics so I knew that she would want to watch the movie as well.

we sat down and every time I would look at her and she was so focused on the movie that it seemed like everything around her just disappeared.

“I can’t believe it, it was so amazing. I cant wait for the second movie.” she said with a smile as we were leaving the cinema.

“I will bring you when they release the second one.” I said, and she turned and looked at me surprised.

“I would love that.” she said, and her cheeks turned red as I was looking at her.

“Would you like to have lunch?” I asked her and she nodded.

We went to a restaurant that was near the cinema and she wouldn’t stop talking about the movie.

“I thought you were a DC fan.” I said to her, and she stopped talking and frowned a bit.

“Can’t I like both? I mean I love DC series and Marvel movies. I am allowed to like both right?” she asked but it was more of a rhetorical questions.

The food arrived and we started eating, this was the first time I actually got to spend time with her just the two of us. Usually, Dylan is always there and since he has a crush on Sabrina he doesn’t let me have a word with her, so I just sit with them and listen.

Just two more years and she will know that we are destined to be together, just two more years and I will have her in my arms.

I drove her home and dropped her off, “see you at the ceremony tonight?” I said hoping she will be coming.

She nodded before getting off and looking at me with her graceful smile, “thank you, you know for not punishing me.” she said.

“Just promise me you won’t fight again.” I said to her.

She looked at me with frown, “I can only promise that I will try.” she said.

I got ready for the ceremony, I was crowned the Alpha Prince and also my father’s successor. Every time when I looked in Sabrina’s direction she had a proud smile on her face.

I had a few chats with other Alphas and when I turned to look at the direction where Sabrina was a few moments ago I couldn’t find her.

I excused myself and then followed her scent, I found her sitting alone looking at the stars.

When she felt my presence she turned around and looked at me, “got tired of them sucking up to you huh?” she asked with a chuckle.

“Yeah, it’s annoying.” I said to her, and she patted a place next to her to show me that I can sit if I want.

“Ohhh, before I forget I have something for you.” she said and put her hand in one pocket.

She took out a bracelet that had small flowers on it, “I was going to give it to you, but you were surrounded by so many she-wolves.” she said blushing.

I gave her my hand, “you should have come, you know I would have chased them away so fast if it were for you.” I said, and she blushed.

“Give me your hand.” she said, and I gave her my hand and the moment we touched the sparks exploded.

I felt like I was getting butterflies in my stomach which is not like me.

“There you go, all done.” she said and smiled.

“What is it?” I asked looking at the flowers on the bracelet.

“Wel, it’s a good luck charm or a good luck bracelet.” she said and pointed at one flower.

“This one is the lucky Bamboo, it’s known to attract positive energy, this one is the money tree, its brings money and good luck. And then there is the jade plant, the peonies, and of course the orchids. It’s to say good luck in whatever you do, positive energy only.” she said and got up.

She looked at me and then kissed my cheek, “you will make a great King.” she said and giggled before running back home.

I just sat there and smiled, I looked at the bracelet and from today this is the most prized possession that I own.

I went home and it was only after 3 am that everyone had completely cleared and went home.

I can’t wait for her to find out that we are mates, how will she react?
