9: Angry Fists

2394 Words
“I want to make something clear to you, Dru...” He found her past life name slipping out of his lips which he didn’t intend to and watch the way her eyes recoiled in anger and no matter how he thought his hold on her was so strong, she pushed him away, running her fingers through her hair.  “What was that? And who the hell do you think you’re calling with that name?” She flipped her hair backwards and rolled her eyes angrily at him. She wanted to punch him so hard that she would have him bleeding right before her eyes, but Danika knew she didn’t possess the power to do so. She walked to the bed, “See yourself out, Your Majesty.”  Her entire body shook with how fearful she was, she didn't know what would be of her life if Ezra decided that he would take his husband rights from her. She wanted to run away and never come back to the palace. This was her first day here and she was already tired and feeling suffocated.  She slid under the blanket and waited to see his next move and it took him minutes trying to tame his bloodthirsty away. Because if he tried to act upon the way his body was urging him to, there was no doubt that he would have to feast on her blood to survive. And he could clear the chief priest’s words after they were in private.  “You can’t force her to consummate the marriage, Your Majesty. She has to be willing, so as the softness and willingness of her as a woman would sate down the monstrous blood in you for you to be able to calm yourself down.” Ezra had winced at the instruction the priest had given him and he knew he had to abide by it. “What if she’s not willing, Priest? This blood hunger is killing the life out of me! The blood is no longer even satisfying my thirst!” He thundered, frustrated at how he was feeling and how intense everything was becoming. He wouldn’t want to become a monster, and from the looks of it if care wasn’t taken he would likely become one in a short period. And if he did, that way he knew he would have to live far away from the people so he couldn’t hurt them at any given chance.  “Your Majesty, it’s better you realize that this is what your body has to go through because of the five years it had spent laying doormat as a dead body. You can’t resurrect to life without having to face any difficulties. Five hundred years ago, you weren’t like this, the world wasn’t this modernized. Your body is finding it so hard to adjust. The best way is to find a warm woman, which you did, a woman also. And you make love to her in the most gentle manner while she’s being responsive and I'm certain it would satiate your monsters down.”  Ezra closed his eyes because he didn’t want to remember further. And from the way he was seeing things, he knew that he could take her forcefully if he wanted, but it would only do more harm than good to the body he so badly wanted to adjust as it should be. He stared at how she had her body covered by the blanket but from where he stood, he could tell that her heart was pounding heavily.  But just because he couldn’t force himself on her didn’t mean that he couldn’t have made it he angered her the way she did to him and so he walked toward the bed and sat down, “Sit up.” His voice left no room for argument and Danika knew the easiest way for her was to follow his commands tonight, so long as she wanted to get free. She knew he could force himself on her, but she wasn’t ready for any marital happenings between them and she would never be. Dammit! She hated him to have anything marital happen between them.  She did as he said, with the blanket held up to her chest that the only thing he could see was her face and the stubborn hair that rained down to her cheeks. She pushed them back and held a stoic expression on her face, “What else do you want? I thought I'd made it clear to you that you can see yourself out? Or I'll ring for Lisa to help you find your way back to your chamber.” She knew she was being stubborn, but then showing him that she was fierce, Danika believed that was the only way to save herself from him.  She watched the way he curled his fist and took his eyes away from her. He yanked the blanket away from her body and she shuddered at the fear that seared right into her spine. She wanted to allow her body to tremble, her lips to quiver as she spoke, for her hands to shake to show him that she was terrified of him, but she would never do that. Instead, she rolled her eyes exasperatedly at him. “What do you want, Your Majesty?” She forced out the ‘Your Majesty’ through gritted teeth.  He roughly pulled her to him and watched the way she internally trembled before she took a hold of her expression. He knew he couldn’t have her, but at least seeing the fear in her eyes would be worth everything. She was practically seated on his laps as he stared right into her eyes that without wanting to, Ezra saw the fear she held within and he knew that for once he had never seen fear in Queen Dru’s eyes. Wait, he did, the moment his sword got right into the rim of her heart. “What’s this, Your Majesty?” She tried to get out of his hold but he held her even tighter. He didn’t enjoy touching her, because instead of a woman’s lushness, Ezra had in mind that he was holding his sworn enemy and he was forced to push his mind away from etching his pangs right into her throat.  “I’m your husband, remember?” He said with a low voice that internally made Danika quiver with the fear of the unknown. She didn’t want this and would never let it happen even if she were to smack the flower vase on her bedside drawer on the crown of his head. But she knew that wouldn’t be a good idea, because she knew the minute he woke up, she would be dead. As much as he was her husband, he was a vampire first.  “So what if you’re my husband? I need you nowhere around me and you should get out of my room. Or else...” He threw his head back and laughed. The king of enigmatic laughter rustled the insides of Danika and she instantly wanted to pee. She knew that laughter whenever she watched a movie and the villain was a minute away from killing one of the characters, she didn’t want to die now. And not in the hands of this man. “Or else what?” He turned his face to hers and leaned closer in a way that if he was planning to kiss her, he needn't strain a muscle to reach her lips.  “I'll scream until someone came to my rescue. Just get out, Your Majesty, will you?” No matter how much she wanted to sound strong, she found her voice quivering when she spoke. She wanted to smack herself back and took a hold of herself but she couldn’t. This was something she had no control over. She was afraid, terrified even.  He began to loosen his hold on her with a smirk on her lips, “Why don’t you try and see? Maybe someone would indeed come to your rescue.” She understood sarcasm when she heard one and right now, he was taunting her and making a fool out of her that anger swarmed into her heart.  “Let go of me.” She said through gritted teeth and before she closed her mouth, his hands were already on her shoulders and he was trying to pull her gown from her body that Danika didn't know when she bolted out of his hold and instead of the bed, she fell on the ground with a loud thud and a yelp from her mouth.  “Ahh,” she wailed involuntarily and tried to sit up when her waist made a cracking sound. He sat on the bed watching her as she groaned in pain with a smirk on his lips.  “I guess you aren't screaming enough, Your Highness. Certainly, someone would’ve already come to your rescue even though your husband happens to be in the same room as you are.” She shot him a hot glare, all that talk about how she was afraid of him vanishing from her heart. She was furious! “As respectably as I could ask, get the hell out of here, Your Majesty.” He stood up without any hassle, even though it showed on his face that her threat did nothing to make him do that. He had a pleased look on his face which confirmed to Danika that he derived joy from hurting and making her angry. The moment she watched his retreating back closing the door of the room, she hissed in pain and tumbled to the bed.  She closed her eyes and sighed, finally having her heart calm down. She wanted to scream her frustration out but he knew she couldn’t. She was a Queen now, and the whole of Dewhurst expected her to act like one. To hell with being a Queen! She wanted to go back to her life and do all the things she knew she would never do now.  She had been holding up so well throughout the day, but when she knew she was finally done and no one would be able to know what she did, tears sprang to her cheeks and she covered her mouth to avoid a whimper from being heart, in case someone was keeping guard at her door. She cried to the agony she felt in her heart and the dawning feeling that she certainly know if he had married Riah, he wouldn’t have treated her the way he did now. Or maybe Riah too wouldn’t have been as stubborn as she was. If he had married her sister, the Vampire King would’ve been cocooned in his wife’s arms now after making love to her all night long.  • The news had certainly reached the Priest, Ezra thought when he sat on his sofa in his living room. He asked his eunuch to usher the Priest into the living room for he had to go to the Throne Hall today, they would have to finalize the rule of marrying amongst vampires even though Ezra knew so well that the royal members were against it but they would have no other choice but to go with what the King wanted.  The chief priest bowed before him as he spoke, “I extend my respect to you, Your Majesty.” “Have a seat, Priest.” When he sat down, Ezra didn't wait for him to tell him what had happened before he spoke, “I can see the news had reached you since you showed up first thing today.” The priest bowed his head in respect before he looked up at Ezra, “Yes, Your Majesty. I was terrified because I thought that after yesterday’s night, you’d have no other problem with your insatiable bloodthirsty. But hearing that you had ventured into the slave’s den in the middle of the night and leftover a hundred corpses was terrifying, Your Majesty.” The veins in Ezra’s neck twitched and he felt the rise of anger, but for that, he could at least tame it down. “Yes, something happened and we both know that whenever someone happened that makes me angry or stirred my emotions, I'd have no control over myself. It was a wonder to me how I was able to spare her life.”  He was aware of the curious look in the Priest's eyes and Ezra was ever ready to satisfy the old man’s curiosity so long as that would bring an end to his menace. “I guess with what you’ve said, you’ve not consummated the marriage with Her Highness?” He closed his eyes to tame himself down from being remembered of how angry she had made him and how so bad he wanted to pierce his pangs into the veins of her throat but held himself. “We didn’t and I have no intention of consummating this marriage with her, neither is she. Will there be any other way apart from this?” He waited, patiently as the Priest thought of a more befitting reply and to see if there was a way he could heal himself without having to consummate the marriage with someone like Danika.  Regrettably, the Priest shook his head. “I'm sorry to say this, Your Majesty, but that’s the only way. And like I've said, she has to be willing and responsive, so you have to find a way of convincing her, Your Majesty.” I’d rather become a monster than beg or try to seduce her, he thought. But the encumbrance of what was going to happen to him if things kept worsening wasn't something he'd have to give up on, as well.
