7: The Royal Luncheon

2314 Words
“This is your bed-chamber, Your Highness.” Her court lady mentioned as she bowed with a satisfied smile on her face, seeing the pleased look on Danika’s face as her eyes stealthily roamed through the room.  Danika composed herself, “Thank you...” She just realized that she didn't know her name. Or had she mentioned it to her and she forgot already? For she had a lot of things going on in her head right now. “My name is Lisa, Your Highness.” She bowed her head slightly. “Lisa, thank you for your hard work today. I'd like to take a nap for some time now, okay?” She was dying to get herself cocooned into that bed and her body to be delicately wrapped around the blanket she saw. It was just so tempting that if not she were supposed to be acting like a Queen, Danika knew she would’ve run directly to the bed the moment they entered.  Lisa had shown her almost everywhere in her chamber but the bed-chamber was the most beautiful of all and Danika instantly knew it was going to be her sanctuary. “Yes, Your Highness.” She nodded her head and took a few steps back before she stopped, “His Majesty had a luncheon with the royal members of the palace which you have to attend too, in two hours now. I'll come to wake you up when it’s time.” She watched her left the room and wished she could tell her that no one should wake her up and she wasn’t going to any luncheon with him, to hell with him and the royal members. But then she knew even though she knew so little about the palace rules, one is; you can’t object to anything as you so wish. And so, she abided.  She stripped off the royal garment he had specifically sent for her for the ceremony while rolling her eyes as though he was there, standing to see how disgusted she was of the clothing. It was left of her inner dress. Cotton made gown that Faline got for her to match with the external dress and it turned out to be so perfect that Danika knew if she were getting married to a normal man, she could’ve worn it as her wedding gown. She let loose of her hair, removed all those pins that were put to keep it in place and she had to sigh. The torture her hair went through wasn’t something she wanted to happen again, a Queen or not, she wasn’t going to endure that ever again. And certainly not because of him. Letting her hair flow on her shoulders as though it were a rivulet, she rushed into the silky beddings of the bed and grinned from ear to ear as she increased the temperature of the AC.  She wrapped her petite body into the warm blanket and snuggled deeper into her pillow as she thought of the cold yet warm attic in her home. She had missed it, but this was certainly something she would’ve like to experience even if it was once in her life. Danika couldn't believe she was a married woman now, and a Queen at that. She had always envisioned how her marital life will be, full of love and whatever good feelings were possible between a man and a woman but she knew she had to let go of all these fantasies of her the moment she had said ‘I do’ to marrying the Vampire King.  He was in no place close to being that loving husband she had lived her life for, nor could he ever be the amazing father she wanted her kids to have. A chuckle reverberated out of her chest through the darkened clouds of her slumber, and she felt her body giving in to the sleep which she had been deprived of since the King announced his proposal and slept, it felt so good to sleep on a bed for the first time in her life. • “Your Majesty, it’s almost time for the luncheon.” He heard the eunuch’s voice from the door and wondered how long it had been since their brief meeting with the chief priest as he asked them to let him rest.  He lazily opened his eyes and softly groaned, coughing to let them know he was awake now. He was about to pull himself from the resting sofa he had lain on when everything dawned on him and it felt as though it were a dream. He had gotten married? And that too to the Queen of Trinnuiven dynasty. Yes, he knew this wasn’t Dru but Danika, but then he had seen Dru in her on the runaway day. And even though from how she acted he knew she had zero memories about her past life, Ezra knew it was only a matter of time before she recollected back her memories and from them, he would live up to his revenge as he wanted. The eunuch helped him in getting ready in his royal attire and he felt a bloodthirst that he asked one of the maids to collect it from him from his kitchen. He knew he needed blood to keep him calm, for it was certain that if they met with her, he’d have to need it. They waited until he drank to his satisfaction before he stood and they left. “We have to go to the Queen’s chamber first, Your Majesty. You have to go there together.” The eunuch mentioned with all the respect in the world and Ezra momentarily closed his eyes to calm himself. He had no wish to see her, but there were things that even he, as the King couldn’t avoid. Especially when he knew the royal members hated him and were desperately looking for a single mistake from him that would have them raise a matter of how incapable he was as a King.  They stood in front of her chamber and he was aware of how her maids were clattering with the fear of seeing him, for this was the first time they were seeing the new King. “Your Highness,” her court lady began, “His Majesty is here and will enter now.” They had been trying to wake Danika up for the past ten minutes but she hadn’t paid heed to any of their calls. The court lady opened the door for him and she walked behind him into the room, as they left everyone at the door which slowly closed behind them. Her hands trembled when they stood in front of the bed and the only thing that was evident to show them she was indeed in the bed, sleeping was her hand that was lying on the bed. “Your Highness, His Majesty is here.” “Lisa, I told you that I can’t attend that luncheon whatsoever. Leave me alone, I predict that you wouldn't want to be in the record of my bad deeds on my first day here.” Her voice was muffled with sleep as she pulled her hand in and turned to the other side. “Your Highness, I beg your pardon but you please...” Ezra waved his hands at her to stop her and he motioned for her to leave the room, which she silently obliged. He sat down on the bed and heard her soft breathing as she slept. “Your Highness,” he called out, trying as much as he could to mimic the voice of her court lady, she might not know it wasn’t the same for she was deeply asleep. “Lisa, get out of my room!” She thundered and abruptly sat up to give Lisa an earful, the blanket slipping off from her body as her hair rustled around her as though it were a bird’s nest. And when she looked at who was there, her mouth immediately went dry.  He watched the dress she had on and how loosely it had fit her body but it did nothing to cover the curves of her body that should be shown to the world. Her hair that looked as though a nest looked so homely and beautiful that he instantly stood up from the bed. She looked messy, yet most beautifully, he had ever seen a woman looked. He didn't know whether it was because he had never seen a woman this close, when she had just woken up from sleep and anger flaring from the small openings of her nose, but it was a sight to behold.  “What the hell are you doing here?” She pulled her palms up to rub the remaining sleep out of her eyes when his eyes caught the ring and he leapt until he caught her hand in his, which was the most unmannered thing he had ever done in his life. You can’t hold a woman that abrupt, not when you were a king and expected to act like this. “This ring, where did you get it?” He asked, trying so hard to pull it out but he couldn’t that she yanked her hand away from his hold while rolling her eyes incessantly at him. “What do you think is wrong with you?” She said through gritted teeth and pulled herself down from the bed, running her fingers through her dishevelled hair. He saw the length of her gown, how it hugged the remaining part of her body and how it suited her that he wondered how anyone in his right mind would sleep with a gown like that.  “I asked you a question, where did you get that ring?” She rolled her eyes at him, her eyes wandering softly to the ring.  “How is that your concern? It’s mine and I'm not obliged to tell you where I got it from.” She watched the door for a moment before her heated gaze turned at him, “I'd appreciate it if you leave me to my privacy, Your Majesty.” She slightly bowed, cooking up in her mind what to do next when he didn't do as she wanted. Ezra stared at how she looked furious and then it felt as though he was staring right into Queen Dru’s eyes. He knew it! This woman was either Queen Dru that faked her death and showed up in a household as a human daughter or whatever it was, but it was so real that he doubted if she was rebirthed he learnt her to be. But for one thing, he knew Queen Dru would rather wage a war than agree to marry him. “Be out in a minute, you can’t have a King waiting for you.” His eyes lingered softly around the ring, “And this conversation isn’t ended here.” “You can’t order me around, I guess I've already told you I won’t be that Queen to you.” She left him standing in the room as she entered the bathroom and Ezra wanted to make sure that this girl, this human with the body, voice and soul of the woman he hated the most in his life-knew so much pain from him that she’d wish he rather killed her than leave her alive. They went to her living room and he was to wait, like every husband would, to his wife. He wanted to show the whole palace that he had married the woman he would certainly take care of, the woman he loved so none of them could try to team up with Danika to cause him any harm, not that he knew any physical harm could do.  It was getting to ten minutes when he heard the shuttering sound of her maids shoes as they walked to where he was and she was walking majestically in front of them. With her shoulders raised and her face held high, it was times like this that he found it so hard to believe that Danika was the rebirthed version of Queen Dru. For she held the same charisma and aura Dru did, and it was quite unnerving and it made him even more furious. His eyes involuntarily followed the dress she had worn, and he found himself thinking if Queen Dru had always looked this way in a dress. The dress covered her shoulders almost fully and flowed down into a stylish cowl neckline. It's a relaxed fit which made the dress look comfortable, yet elegant and stylish. Her arms have been covered fully. The sleeves start loose and tighten towards the bottom where they wrap gracefully around her wrists. The dress' waist is narrow, but it's a comfortable fit. A bow had been wrapped around her and rested gently on her lower back. Below the waist, the dress widened and had several asymmetric layers toward the bottom. The dress reached just above her knees and is slightly longer at the sides. She was wearing kitten heels, gorgeous on their own, an ideal match in combination with the dress. To top it all off she's wearing a simple, but stylish necklace and several jewelled bracelets. “Shall we proceed, Your Majesty?” She said with a taunting voice that he realized she had caught him shamelessly staring at her. Without a word, Ezra turned and began to walk toward the main palace dining room.
