Lester and Larry both stared at Comet and she continued saying,” From all this time that we have been together and after all that we have gone through you should have understood that there is nothing in this entire world which is going to keep us apart or cause a misunderstanding between us. Just the fact because I told you that I would need to find myself and my identity does not mean that I don’t want my family with me. That I don’t want them to love me like they did before.”

Larry said, “Comet you know that it is not true at all. We have been trying to make things better for you always and we will keep doing so. Your daddy might have been scared but that doesn’t mean that he does not love you or he does not want to be close to you. And just like you said it is easy to forget that in our fear to make things better for our own family we end up hurting the people that we love the most.”

Lester said, “I never wanted to hurt any of you. Both of you, you are the two people that I love most in this world and there is nothing which can keep me apart from you.”

“But daddy you have been staying apart from us and we have been trying to get you back since quite some time you have been avoiding us. I understand the reason why you have been doing it but will you really tell me is there someone else that you have fallen in love with? Because if it has happened then it is better that you really pursue the relationship rather than be pulled back by us?”

“Why are you asking that?” Lester asked her in surprise.

“There is a reason why I’m asking so first you tell me what is the truth.”

“I don’t know. I don’t understand.”

“You do know daddy. And you are scared to accept the truth. That is the reason you have been running are we from us and trying to hide it from yourself. But when it comes to love these things really don’t work. You have to start accepting yourself first and only then you will be able to understand the truth which has been hurting you. I don’t want us to be like the crabs.”

“And what does that exactly mean?” This time the question was asked by Larry.

“Judith told me that day, that in a basket of crabs if one of the crabs tries to climb over the basket, then all the other crabs pull it back inside. And in that way they can never climb out of the basket. But I don’t want that to happen with me or you or daddy, Uncle Larry. If he has fallen in love with someone else then he should go out and try and pursue that relationship be it whoever maybe a man or a woman it does not matter at all.”

“You don’t understand, it does matter.” Larry said.

“Why?” Comet asked. Her stance was defiant this time.

“Because your daddy is an idiot.” Larry said and his face was absolutely deadpan.

Lester looked at him in surprise and said, “Of all the things that you could have told me this was the worst. Why can you be not more like Comet? Why can you not be more understanding towards my plight?” Lester asked.

“Because there is no plight dear brother. Because and I cannot believe that I am saying this, you have been honey trapped.”

“What the f**k is wrong with you? How can you say that to me?” Lester burst out.

“There is no point screaming or shouting obscenities at me. After what happened last year do you think that I am going to be letting everything go so easily? Do you think that after what commit Indy old and suffered I want anyone else in our family to go through the same fate? And if that means that I have to pull all the stops in order to find out anything that can prove my words to be true then I’m going to do that.”

“And what exactly did you find out? And about whom? This time the question was asked by comment.

“I found out things about Aaron. I was waiting till today because I did not have evidence with me but now that I know that he has been involved in lot of shady practices and deals I have to say that this was a very planned operation and that too by the same people who took Comet last year. They were very well aware that we are not going to let her out of our sight again, that is the reason the trapping started with Lester this time. Aaron is a guy who specializes in seducing men off a particular age. And this is not the first time that he has been doing this. He has had a lot of other victims as well.”

“ I can’t believe this,” Lester said.

Larry looked at him with a grave expression and said, “I myself could not believe it that you would be so naïve that you would be seduced by a man at this age without even bothering to look at his past once. How could you ever forget what we were trained of and how could you ever forget what happened with your own baby girl?”

“What kind of evidence did you find out uncle Larry?” Comet asked.

“Are you sure that you want to see this?” Larry asked. Both of them nodded vigorously.

Larry took out his mobile phone from his jeans pocket and played a voice message.

Hey bud. I looked at this man and his profile that you had sent me yesterday. I cannot believe that he is now close to you. There is a warrant and that too active ones out for him in five states all over the country. This man is a very well known con man. He seduces men and men who are not gay, those men as well he has destroyed a lot of families like this he has taken the money from these men destroyed their entire careers and lives and then gone away without a trace. And there are chances that there is a larger ring at operation behind this. This man is very well versed and charming in the art of seduction and he can flip his character at any point of time at any moment like a chameleon. It is a good thing that you sent me his profile, I am going to find someone for starting an active manhunt against this person. Whenever he is or whatever name he uses, make sure that he stays away from your family no matter what because if he is in your family then it is pretty certain that he is going to destroy everything you have worked so hard for all this time. Larry played the next message. This time it was his own voice.

Why hasn’t he been caught until now? I am pretty certain that there has been complaints from the victims and all!

The next message by this other person was:

Yes there has been complaints but after this man has already fled from this area and the state and these men have come to understand that they have been duped in such a way. Most of these men who were duped where in their age group of early 40s to late forties and were very successful and had a lot of money stashed away somewhere or the other. And this guy has always propositioned them to start a business with them and then the money was nowhere to be seen. Even worse, he is a very good coder and a software developer, which is why changing his identity and finding a new job in any other place isn’t a very big deal for him.

Lester was standing till now and he dropped on the couch with a thud with his face buried in between his hands.

“Daddy?” Comet said with alarm and then rushed towards his side, and said, “daddy? Are you alright? Please say something!”

“All these years of tracking people, all these years of going undercover, of going ghost, of doing Black Ops and removing the trace of people from the face of earth itself, even after that, I cannot believe that I myself would fall in a trap like this.”

“It happens to the best of us,” Larry said sympathetically.

“It doesn’t happen to me,” Lester said as he raised his face and this time his eyes were burning.

“Has he asked for money yet? Has he said something till now in this entire time that you both spent lovey dovey with each other that would make you suspicious of him?”

“No not until now. But there is something which is now clicking at the back of my mind this all has been coming forward that lately there has been a lot of problems from the software that we have been developing and giving it our clients. The clients have been beta testing the software’s and telling that it works for at least five to six days and then it fails. And then we have to code it again and then give it to them for free. It is wasting a huge of my manpower and also my resources. Some of my clients have been complaining as well but I have checked in a found the bugs and the Trojans and sorted it out. Now it seems like a larger plan to actually put me out of business.”

“I have to say,” Comet said, “he is a really really interesting guy.”

“And what do you mean by that?” daddy asked.

“I mean that he has been doing this for quite some time and he has never been caught. He changes names and he changes faces and he always tries this on men. But I know that he is not just a gay. None of his actions or his specific characteristics scream that he is a gay which is why it is so easy for him to seduce men. And he must have started small, and then he has practiced with conning small people and after that gone ahead with the bigger fish. But he has put hands in the wrong fish tank this time,” said Comet with an evil smile playing on her lips. And continued,” this time he is playing with sharks and he is going to be torn apart.”

“I don’t want you near that man under any circumstances,” growled Lester as he caught hold of Comet’s wrist.

“Aww, daddy, you are not fun at all. Tell him, uncle Larry that it will be really fun. This could be a really bonding family experience for the three of us. What do you say?”

“I am with your Daddy on this. I don’t want you near that man at all. But in the same way, I gotta say that this bastard has evaded law for a very long time and it is high time to put him behind the bars. So if we can plan this right then I think that this can be done,” said Larry and Comet whooped and said,” Daddy, I need your phone.”

“For what?”

“For dismantling it.”

“WHAT?”

“Your phone has been bugged and I am pretty certain that there are cameras in our rooms as well which that bastard has put up when we were talking so that he can make videos and then blackmail you for leverage.”

“I know what she is going to be later on in her career,” announced Lester with a huge grin on his face. Larry asked,” What is that?”

“She is going to make a great profiler. For the FBI or the CIA…whichever takes her first,” said Lester and Comet scowled at her step-dad.
