Chapter 5 A pleasant evening

DANIELS POV

I'm raging that some sour ball has robbed my sister's coffee shop.

Leah didn't want to be stuck behind a desk like me. She decided she wanted a coffee shop. Somewhere she could start out herself. So I made it happen. I brought the property and had it all set up exactly how she wanted it. Leah said she would do it herself, but I talked her into letting me pay for it as a birthday gift. And Leah is doing really well. She is even talking of opening a second one as profit is that good. I'm really proud of her, I knew she could make it work I was always confident in her abilities. But more importantly she is doing something she loves.

As much as I'm raging though, I'm excited to spend a little time with just Mia, get to know her a little more.

We have just arrived back at mine, and Mia is currently taking her bags into the guest bedroom, I offered to, but Mia insisted she would be fine by herself.

I decided to start cooking the food up, pizzas and garlic bread are currently going into the oven when I hear Mia walking back in.

"Hey would you like a glass of wine?" I ask

"Yes please, I'd love a glass" Mia says.

"A glass of wine coming right up" I say before going to get the wine and a glass.

I poor a glass of wine and grab myself a beer from the fridge.

"Your home is really lovely" Mia says while looking around admiring the place.

"You like it?" I ask then think what a stupid question she just said so.

"I love it! I've never seen or stayed in a place so huge before" Mia says.

"Well you have now. Although it's big it gets lonely at times just being me here" I say.

"Don't you have a girlfriend?" Mia asks.

"No I tend to attract people who are more interested in my wallet than my heart, unfortunately. So I've stayed single for the past two years" I say honestly.

"Your probably looking in the wrong places not all of us women want money you know" Mia says.

"I know that what about you, do you have a boyfriend back home?" I ask praying she doesn't.

"Now the last one I broke up with after he cheated on me. We were only together a year. Then 2 months later I moved here, And well I haven't really made friends with anyone yet, let alone had time to find someone to date" she says.

"Well it was your ex's loss, how someone could cheat on someone as nice as you are clearly stupid" I say.

"Thanks, but I'm over it to be fair" she says, and I can tell by how she is talking about her ex as well as her body language she is totally over her ex.

I look into her eyes my god she is adorable I think to myself.

"Well I'm glad to hear that" I say while smiling.

"Would you like a hand cooking?" Mia asks changing the subject.

"No, you can just keep me company and to be fair the food is already in cooking" I say.

"Now that I can do that" she replies.

"Have you submitted anything for the advertising competition?" I ask.

I pray she has, so we can spend more time together. That way I can personally request meetings and updates etc, so we can spend more time together.

"No I didn't get to finish it, and now I won't have time to" Mia says frowning.

"If you can and want to, I extend the deadline giving you a chance to submit yours?" I say.

"No don't do that it won't be fair on the others. I really don't mind. And honestly I don't think I will have time over the next few weeks. It really wouldn't be fair on anyone else" Mia insists.

"Okay then I won't" I say, however feeling a bit gutted by her decision, but I totally understand it.

Oh. well looks like Michelle can oversee everything. Know things have changed I won't need an excuse to say hi now anyway I think to myself.

"Thank you, for the kind offer though" Mia says.

"Your welcome" I say while sending Mia a warm understanding smile.

I checked the food and it's nearly done.

So I grab some plates out ready.

"What made you choose my company to work" ? I ask trying to think of many ways to start a conversation.

"I worked for the daily local paper in advertising section before this Job, but it was more people asking to have adverts put in and well I prefer to create the advertisements. So when I see the job position available I was eager to apply. I feel I can grow more now within my career within your company" Mia says.

"And do you enjoy working for me?" I ask wanting to know that I won't lose her from the company anytime soon.

"Yeah, I'm really loving the job so far, but you have to get rid of the spag bowl in the canteen it doesn't taste nice, at the least change the sauce" Mia says with a very serious face.

"I love it when people give me honest feed back. I will have someone change the spag bowl recipe" I say while laughing.

I check the food again and see it's done.

"Mia how about you find something to watch on the telly? I will bring the food over in a minute", I say.

"Okay will do" Says Mia while walking towards the sofa.

I quickly dish up, and I can see Mia has chosen NCIS.

"Oh good choice it's one of my favourite shows" I say while handing Mia her dinner.

"Yeah, I like Gibbs a few of my friends fancy him. I don't see the appeal looks wise but personality wise I can see why they fancy him. Personally I like Tony" Mia says.

"Why Tony?" I'm intrigued in case it's anything similar to me that way I will have a hint if Mia is slightly into me in any kind of way.

"Because although he seems like a player deep down he is a sweetheart and isn't bad looking either, plus I think he has funny moments" she says.

"See I like that about you, your one for wanting to love someone's soul not what's on the outside, but what's on their inside" I say.

"I'd never date someone purely on their looks, I'd rather have a spark and passion in relationships! However, if they happen to be hot as hell then that's just a bonus" Mia says, and she smiles at me while she looks like she is thinking about it.

"I have to agree with you on that one" I say.

We both eat the food and get into watching the TV. Mia is definitely my type of women, she is kind-hearted and lovely and drop dead georgaus. It's like winning the jackpot in finding such a person. However, right now she needs a friend. But once she comes back to work after her mum's funeral I'm going to ask her on a date I've made up my mind.

RING RING RING RING.

"Sorry it's Leah" I say as I answer my phone.

"Hey Leah how's it all going?" I ask answering the phone

"I've spoken with the police. They have the CCTV footage, and I've got a crimes reference number, and they interviewed all the staff as well as customers that were in the coffee shop when it happened". Leah says.

"That's pretty quick" I say.

"Yes I have also given all the customers a £10 gift card each. I've spoken with the staff told them there all be getting a bonus in their next pay check to treat themselves after what's happened. Now I'm waiting for the taxi back. How's things going your end?" She says.

" We are good here, Just had dinner and watching NCIS now. Oh, and I've left yours in the microwave. Would you like a drink made for when you get back?" I ask knowing full well she will be wanting one and not a strong one at that.

" Yeah please, I could do with a big glass of wine" Leah says.

"Alright I will get it ready for you, I say.

" See you soon" Leah says.

"Bye, I say, before hanging up.

"Leah is on her way back would you like some cake? Also, would you like some, more wine I'm about to make Leah a glass ready for when she arrives" I ask Mia.

"Tell you what, you sort the cakes and I will sort the wines" Mia says.

"Okay" I say.

I stand up and Mia stands up but loses her balance in the progress. I quickly catch Mia in my arms before she falls to the floor. "Wow easy there" I say looking into her eyes.

Mia looks up at me. Damn she looks so cute I want to kiss her sweet lips I think to myself.

"Thanks, I'm not sure what happened one minute I was good the next second I was falling" she says going red in the face, probably from feeling embarrassed however I just find it so darn cute.

"It's alright" I say slowly letting go of Mia making sure she is steady on her feet.

"I'm glad you were close enough to stop me face planting the floor" she says going a little more red in the face.

"It's alright, I'm just glad I was close enough to save you from the fall" I say.

"Yeah, I don't want to do that I still ache from collapsing to the floor yesterday with a bruise at the top of my leg" Mia says frowning.

"I'm sorry I wasn't closer to catch you yesterday" I say while walking to get the cakes.

"It's okay, you weren't to know. I didn't expect it myself" she says with tears in her eyes.

"How's the cuts on your legs now?" I ask.

"A lot better today, I wish I could say the same for my broken heart though. I feel like I'm going to break down and cry every 10 minutes" Mia says with sadness in her voice.

"If you need to cry, shout scream whatever, hell even break all my cultry for all I care you just let it out. I won't hold it against you" I say.

"Thanks, I already made a head start with the cutlery at work yesterday though" Mia says.

"It's fine I didn't like that cup anyway" I say smiling hoping to lighten Mia's mood just slightly.

Mia pours the drinks while, I get myself a walnut cake.

"Mia what cake would you like or is it a stupid question I should just dish up the chocolate one?" I ask

"Oh I'd love the chocolate one please" she says.

"Okay" I say while I put a slice on a plate and hand it to Mia.

"Thanks" she says taking the plate from me.

No need to thank me I simply dished it up. It's all Leah's doing not mine" I say.

MIA'S POV

"Hmm this cake is so good" Mia Says between taking a bite.

"I can't disagree there, My sister did well in choosing her staff. Talking of which here she comes now" he says turning his head towards the front doors' direction.

"Leah is everything alright?" Says Daniel

"Yeah all is good now, but I've sent the paperwork side to your email" Leah says walking in.

"Alright I will handle it all for you" says Daniel.

"How are your employees?" I ask

"They are good a little shaken, but they are doing okay. I've told everyone to take the day off tomorrow I figured it's the least I could do. So the coffee shop will be shut, Gives them time to recover" Leah says.

"That's wonderful of you, here's your wine". I say passing the wine over to Leah.

"Thanks, I really needed this" she says with a serious thinking face.

"Alright you two sit down and chill and Leah I shall heat your dinner up" Daniel says.

"Actually I'm going to have a bath which by the way you could fit 10 people in their why is it so big?" I ask.

"Because I like to swim and hate tiny baths, so I choose mega big baths" says Daniel.

"Ooh, I see" I say making a big OOo shape with my mouth.

"Okay, go and enjoy your bath Mia" says Daniel.

"Mia once you're done come join me and Daniel for a movie night, I'm raiding the ice cream freezer after today" Leah says.

"Alright and I've got dairy milk I will bring that to! I agree comfort food is the way forward atm" I reply.

With that I go have a bath. I decided to wear my green elf Christmas fluffy PJ's. I know its summer, but my mum brought them. And It's the next best thing since my mum can't hug me right now. With that I pull them on while crying. I really want my mum.

20 minutes later I pull myself together. My eyes don't look to puffy a little red. I walk back to the longe and Leah has started getting the popcorn ready with ice cream tubs out, there's a range of flavours. Chocolate and mint, chocolate, strawberry, cookie dough all on the table with bowls and spoon.

"I brought the chocolate" I say.

"Have you been crying?" asks Daniel.

"Yeah, I was thinking about my mum" I say.

"Are those elves PJ's in summer, won't you get to hot?" Leah asks

"Yeah my mum brought them, I just want to feel close to her, which is why I choose them" I say starting to cry again.

Leah pulls me into a hug saying "it's alright. Let's go cuddle up on the sofa eat a ton of ice cream and find a good film to watch".

"I brought the chocolate" I say, wiping my tears away.

Leah's takes my arm and leads me to the sofa we sit down on the sofa cuddled up.

Half an hour later we are eating ice cream while I added chocolate dairy milk to the strawberry ice cream watching safe haven.

"I wish my Prince charming would appear" says Leah.

"Yeah, I wish I had someone who would love me like that to" I say.

"Come on your both lovely ladies I'm sure your prince charming's are waiting for you both as well" says Daniel.

"I hope so" says Leah.

"I know so" says Daniel.

"What about you? When am I going to have a sister-in-law?" asks Leah.

"I don't know when the time is right then you will have one" says Daniel.

LEAH POV

I can tell Daniel likes Mia a lot, he looks at her with lust and care in his eyes. I can't remember the last time I see my brother having a crush on anyone.

I hope they can fall in love with each other. Not now but when Mia is starting to heal from the grief of losing her mum. I like Mia she is lovely my type of friend. And I'd actually like to have Mia as my sister-in-law. I can tell she has no idea that Daniel likes her. When she comes back from her mum's funeral I'm going to make sure I help my dear brother out and play cupid I think to myself.

It's 10:50pm and Mia has fallen asleep while we are all watching films.

"Psst, Daniel I think you should carry Mia to bed, your stronger than me! And I don't want to drop her. Not only that your need your bed soon" I say.

"You know Mia isn't sleeping well atm, she keeps waking every few hours, I don't want to risk waking her up. Don't you think we should just let Mia sleep while she is sleeping?" He asks me.

"Your right but what about you?" I ask

"I'm okay, I can take tomorrow of work. I will just sit here and watch some more NCIS. That way if Mia wakes up she won't be alone. Then tomorrow you can stay with Mia while I sleep if need be" he says.

"Okay well I'm going to head to bed, but don't think I don't know your secret Daniel" I say winking at him

"What secret?" He asks looking at me confused.

"I can see who you have a crush on, possibly falling in love with. Don't worry I will help you I say kissing his cheek goodnight".

"Wait" Daniel says placing his arm on my shoulder. "Is it really that obvious?" he asks as I look back at him.

"Yes, it is but don't worry your secret is safe with me" I say.

"Okay thanks, And don't worry about the coffee shop I can deal with everything else for you. Now go get some sleep he" says waving me off to the bedroom.

With that I head of to bed saying "night" as I walk out the room. I hear Daniel saying "night" back.

DANIELS POV

I can't believe my sister rumbled my secret.

I look at Mia, and she looks beautiful while sleeping. Her hair is lose covering her face. I bring the strands in her face behind her ear. Then place a blanket over her, so she doesn't get cold. Then I decided to watch NCIS with enougher beer, after all if I end up with a slight hang over it won't matter since I've decided to take the day off work anyway I think to myself.
