Chapter 6 A kind family

DANIELS POV

"WAKEY WAKEY".

"Ahh, Leah why did you jump on me?" I shout.

I knew it was Leah because she just yelled wakey wakey! While jumping on me waking me from my sleep, and she has done it many of times over the years.

"Because it's 8:55am me and Mia have been awake since 8am. Come on if your still tired you can go to bed" says Leah

"Aww I'm awake" I groan… I then open my eyes look at Leah then I shout "PAYBACK!!"

"NOOO" yells Leah as I stand up and throw her over my shoulder and swing us around before dropping her onto the sofa.

"Aww! Every time why can't I be quick enough to escape you" she says while laughing.

"Morning Mia would you like a coffee!" I ask turning around to face her.

"Hey, what about me, I'm to dizzy to move", Leah moans.

"Alright, I will make you one to" I say laughing at Leah again.

"How about it Mia coffee?" I ask again.

"Yes please, sorry I fell asleep last night you should have woke me up. That way I wouldn't of stolen your sleeping space again" Mia says.

"No, you haven't slept much I wanted you to sleep while you could. Did you sleep well?" I ask.

"Yeah I woke up at 8am when I heard Leah come in" she says.

"Then that's all that matters i" say while filling the kettle up.

"Thanks, I didn't keep you awake though did I?" Mia asks sounding worried.

"No I fell asleep watching NCIS around 2ish" I reply.

"Alright, what do we all want to do today?" asks Leah finally sitting up since I made her dizzy.

"I don't mind" I say

"Um, Leah I was actually wondering if you could help me with some shopping?" Asks Mia

"That I won't say no to what do you need?" Leah asks excitedly at the prospect of shopping.

"Something fit to wear for a funeral and a baby gift ready for Rosie daughter" Mia days.

"Okay, I can come with you* says Leah.

"Daniel can drop us off, can't you?" says Leah

"Actually, I will come with you both I have to get a present for Jenny it's her birthday next week. And I'm useless you ladies can help me pick something" I say.

"In that case then it's settled we are all going shopping" says Leah.

I hand them both there drinks, "You have any ideas what I can get Jenny! I ask. But my phone starts ringing interpreting our conversation.

RING RING RING RING

" It's dad" I say looking at Leah.

"Hi dad are you okay?" I ask answering my phone.

"Me and your mother wanted to know if you want to come for dinner tonight? I will be asking Leah as well once I've got off the phone to you" my dad says.

"No need dad, Leah is here with me" I say.

"Hi dad" Leah shouts.

"How come Leah is with you so early?" He quizzes.

"She is staying a few days" I simply reply.

"Okay well how about it dinner tonight?" My dad says going back to his original question.

"Hang on let me ask Leah" I say.

"Leah dad wants us to go to dinner tonight with him and mum" I say to Leah

"Tell dad next week would be best we can't leave Mia", Leah says.

"No, you both go" says Mia.

"Who is that?" asks my dad.

"Oh dad it's Mia she is also staying with me and Leah a few days" I quickly say trying to keep up with everyone talking.

"Okay well bring Mia as well" he says.

"Dad says to bring you as well" I say to Mia

"Oh, I can't impose, and you should both go" Mia says shaking her head no.

"Now if we go your coming as well" says Leah.

"I'm not sure" Mia says looking nervous.

"Dad put mum on the phone" I say.

"Why son?" He asks now sounding even more confused.

"Because I want to speak with mum" I say.

"Okay hang on" he grumbles.

"Mia honestly, it's fine I will explain to my mum, and we can rearrange" I say

"Who's Mia?" my mum asks.

"No, you go" Mia says at the same time.

"Okay, 2 minutes" Mia I say.

Leah then talks to Mia.

"Mum, Mia is someone staying with me and Leah atm. She has no one in London and works for me. After she had a phone call saying her mum has passed away I asked for Leah's help and from there they are both staying with me until Mia goes back to Bournemouth Saturday" I quickly say.

"Oh the poor love! Daniel Put Mia on the phone" my mum says.

MIA'S POV

"Mia my mum wants to talk with you" says Daniel

"Me?" I asked feeling even more confused now.

"Yes, would you like to speak with my mum?" Daniel asks

"Okay, what's your mum's name?" I ask

"Sue" he says before he hands me the phone.

"Hi sue" I say nervously.

"Oh Mia, I am so sorry to hear about your mum dear. Now I understand you have no one here in London, is that right?" She asks me

"Yes that's true but Leah and Daniel can still have dinner with you, I won't hold them back" I say.

"No, I've changed my mind me and Phil which is my husband will come over to Daniels tonight. You don't need to go anywhere. Don't worry I know my kids will take good care of you, but now I know I'm going to come make sure myself your okay my dear" she says.

"You don't have to do that", I say.

"No, if it was my children all alone, I'd want someone to look after my dear children, so I'm doing this for your mum as a mother to a mother" sue says and I get the feeling she won't be changing her mind.

I start crying and Leah starts rubbing my back.

"Oh sweet child, I know this is awful, and you must be missing your mother a lot" sue says.

"Yy-yes I aam# I say

"Now I know how you feel, I still miss my mum dearly to this day, but I can tell you now that your never forget your mum. As much as it hurts now one day it will get easier, and you will always have your memory's of your dear mum. But most of all remember a mothers love lasts forever, although your mum isn't here now she still loves you dearly" sue says to me.

I feel Leah hugging me.

"Thank you", I say wiping my eyes.

"I just don't know what to do all I want is my mums hugs" I say as enougher set of sobs escape my mouth as I start crying even more.

"I know now I will let you go pass the phone back to Daniel I will see you this evening" says Sue.

I hand the phone back to Daniel before crying into Leah shoulder.

"I'm sorry my mum upset you" says Leah.

"No she was kind, I just miss my mum" I say.

"Mum and dad are coming here for dinner at 5pm" says Daniel as he hangs up the phone.

"What do they want for dinner?" asks Leah.

"Mum said she will take care of the food and not to worry about that. We just need to look after Mia" Daniel says.

"Are you okay Mia!" asks Daniel as I stop crying.

"I'm okay, and I'm sorry about crying all the time" I say.

"No it's completely to be expected" he says.

"Okay let's all have breakfast then go shopping" says Leah.

A FEW HOURS LATER.

It's 2pm, and we are currently looking at baby clothes. I've spoken with my dad before leaving for shopping. Dad sounds as depressed as I feel, And I can't wait to see him again. I miss my dad as much as I miss my mum. I've already found a nice black dress which Leah insisted on paying for, saying she talked me into the dress which was a little over my price range therefore she would buy it as a gift for me. Not only that, but I tried arguing it out, but she beat me to it, As I got changed she had picked enougher matching dress up in the same size and brought it before I could come out the changing rooms. We then went and helped Daniel find a birthday present for Jenny. Daniel wanted to get gift vouchers. However, Leah and I talked him into buying a pamper hamper, so he ended up getting both.

We then had some lunch at Costa. Now we are currently looking at baby clothes.

"Leah there's so many to choose from I can't decide on one" I say.

"I agree, there all so adorable look at these booties" Leah says going all googie eyes over them

"OMG, I need to get them" I say putting them in the basket.

Then I see matching mittens and hats that I pick up one of each up and add to my basket.

"Leah do you think I should get this pink dress with tights or this pink top with matching flowery leggings? " I ask

"Tell you what I love baby shopping I will buy one, and you can buy one" says Leah.

"Okay thank you" I say.

Then I see an adorable white blanket with Teddy bears all over it. "Oh look at this" I say to Leah.

"That's so cute god my womb is going to explode looking at all these baby bits" says Leah.

I add the blanket to my basket.

"I agree I'd love to be a mum one day, I just hope I'm half the mum, my mum was" I say with tears threatening to leave my eyes.

Leah hugs me while saying "I know what you mean I'd love kids to".

"Don't go making me an uncle before marriage" says Daniel.

"Ahh" says Leah.

"You know it's more common to not get married these days before having children" I say.

"Still I won't have no fool get my sister pregnant without marrying her first" he says.

"What about you do you want kids" I ask?

"I'd love kids" Daniel says.

"Then tell me if you got someone pregnant before marriage, would you get married just for the sake of a child?" I ask him.

"I wouldn't get someone pregnant unless I know I want them to be my wife" says Daniel looking me directly in the eye.

"Hmm" I say while admiring his eyes.

I shouldn't be thinking of my boss like this I think. And right now I can't be dealing with a relationship my life is upside down I think to myself.

"Okay I'm done I say while heading towards the tills, so I can distract myself from such thoughts about my boss.

DANIELS POV

I'm not sure if it's my wishful thinking, but I could swear Mia was looking at me like she wanted to devour me just now. But before I could say anything she walked off to the tills. Damn it I could have stared into her eyes all day long I'm thinking while she walks to the tills with Leah. I go wait by the doors for them. She wants children she said it herself, She will make a great mum one day I think. I wonder if it was my babies she carried who they would look more like me or Mia.

"Daniel we are ready go" says Leah breaking me from my thoughts.

"Okay let's go back" I say.

In the car ride back the girls are still talking about baby's.

"Mia if you had children what would you call them?" asks Leah

"I'm not sure, but I'd like a girl" Mia replies.

"I'd like a boy and girl" says Leah

"I'd like 2 boys and 1 girl" I say

"Really why that many?" asks Mia

"Because the boys can share the work load of the company, as well as take care of their sister". I say

"You would make a great dad" says Leah.

"You think so?" I ask

"I know so your like a second father figure to me been always protective over me growing up" says Leah.

"Well you're my baby sister it's the right thing to do" I say

"I think it's greats how close you to are. I wish I had a sibling" say Mia

"Don't worry you can be my sister" says Leah as I pull up into the underground car park.

"Alright we are home, let's get inside" I say.

Before I know it its 4:30pm and I hear

RING RING RING

MIA'S POV

"Hey Rosie how are you? Any sign of the baby yet" I say answering the phone.

"No baby yet, I'm just ringing to check in on you and to let you know after you messaged me earlier, I spoke with my dad he will collect your dad when he arrives and drive him to yours" Rosie says.

"Thanks, I really appreciate it" I reply.

"Don't thank me, by the way I've used the spare key gone in and cleaned the house ready for you and your dad" she says.

"You didn't need to that Rosie!" I say sounding shocked.

"No, I'm in spring-cleaning mode the (nesting stage) so everyone keeps telling me. I needed something new to clean, so it actually did me a favour" says Rosie.

"Okay then" I chuckle.

"By the way I will be waiting for you to arrive in Saturday, so long as this baby doesn't arrive first" Rosie says.

"Okay, I will let you know when I'm near. I was going to get the train, but Daniel said he will drive me" I respond.

"Mia who is Daniel? Don't tell me you found a hunk and have kept it a secret from me!" Rosie asks sounding excited.

"No, nothing like that" I say

"Hmm is he good-looking?" She questions.

"Well I'd have to say yes" I say starting to feel myself blush a little.

"I knew it you like him don't you?" Rosie practically shouts down the phone.

"I didn't say that!" I say really quickly.

"Okay then, he better be treating you right otherwise I will have to wipe the floor with him" Rosie says starting to laugh.

"Oh, No! Don't do that" I say laughing.

"Okay, so tell me more about him. I need details" she says.

"I told you it's nothing like that I will explain it all when I see you okay?" I say praying she will change the subject already.

"Okay you better girl!" she says, and I can practically see her pouting face as she says that even though we are on the phone.

"I will! I promise now I have to go, but I will speak to you later okay?" I say.

"Okay take care of yourself" Rosie says

"I will, and you hurry up and give me my niece" I say.

Then we hang up.

"Sorry about that it was Rosie checking in, her dad is collecting my dad Saturday when he arrives" I say.

"No, it's fine" says Leah. Who is sat next to me.

"I quite like Rosie, she had some good questions" Leah says smiling.

You heard? "I say

" Hmm MMM" is Leah's response with a huge grin on her face.

"Sorry she has a mind that runs away with herself at times" I say.

"No, I want to know the answers to" says Leah.

"What answers?" asks Daniel

"Oh nothing" I say going red.

"Well Rosie wants to know if your good-looking" says Leah…

"OMG this is so embrassing" I say.

"Don't worry everyone thinks our Daniel is good-looking, Anyway as for the other questions you can answer them to me later when Daniel isn't around" Leah says.

I swear if there was a whole that would gobble me up I'd jump right in it now I think to myself.

"What questions" asks Daniel while looking at me.

"It's nothing don't worry" I say

"Women and gossip" says Daniel looking confused.

PING

"it's mum she says she is 2 minutes away. I will go down and greet them" says Leah.

"Okay, I will get the kettle put on mum loves her herbal tea" say Daniel.

Leah dashes out. And Daniel heads for the kettle.

"You know I wouldn't blame you if you think I'm handsome most women have a crush on me" says Daniel.

"Rosie just lets her mind run away with her. Ever since she got married and had children any blokes name she hears me speak of she instantly plans my wedding" I say.

"Aww that's sweet" Daniel says.

"It's annoying more like, but she loves me that's why she cares about me. So long as I don't turn into a crazy cat lady I don't mind if I find my soul mate or not" I say.

"Would you like a coffee?" He asks me

"Um can I have a tea no sugar please?" I ask

"You drink both?" He questioned

"Yeah more coffee, but sometimes I have the odd tea" I say.

Next thing I know a woman who look to be around late 40s early 50s is running towards me. She looks around 5ft 10 has long curly brown hair the same colour as Daniel and Leah. Dark brown eyes slightly darker than Daniels. Golden tanned light skin. She is wearing a blue long flowery dress with blue flat sandals.

"Come here sweet child" she says while embracing me in her arms.

"Hi" I say.

"Now let me have a look at you" she says slightly pulling me away from her to have a look at me from head to toe.

"Hmm your eyes look a little puffy just like I expected. I brought some good face cream it will help keep you looking better. And it's kind ob your skin. But my you are pretty indeed" the women I'm assuming is sue says to me.

"Oh you didn't need to do that" I say.

"Nonsense child, I know I never met your mum, but as a mum I will help take care of you for your mum" sue says.

"Love, where do you want the food?" I hear a bloke say before I see him.

"Give it to Leah and Daniel to sort while I look after Mia here" sue Says

"Hi Mia, I'm Phil" he says looking at me.

I look at Phil he is very tall around 6ft 9. He has shortish blonde hair, greenish blue eyes and looks around the same age as Sue. I can tell that Leah and Daniel look so much like there mum but has hints on Phil in them as well.

"Hi" I say.

"I'm sorry to hear about your mum, I'm glad you have my wonderful children looking after you. I hear you work in the advertising department?" Phil says.

"Yes I've been there 5 months" I say while he hands the food over to Daniel, and Leah is getting plates out.

"Okay, well take as much time as you need off work spend time with your loved ones and don't come back until you're ready. It's usually 2 weeks but since your family don't live here take longer if needed okay," Phil says.

"Dad I already told Mia to take as long as she needs. Her Job is safe I already thought about that" Daniel says.

"Now you know what your father is like, he just can't get out of work mode now matter how long he has been retired" says sue.

"Thanks" I say.

"Right I brought, burgers, kebab, pizzas I wasn't sure what you liked, so I brought a selection for dinner" says sue.

"Oh I like them all thank you, Anything is fine with me" I say giving Sue a small smile.

"Mum your tea is here", says Daniel handing sue the tea.

"Dad want a beer with me?" Daniel then asks his dad.

"I thought you would never ask" says Phil.

"Alright let's get the food dished out" says Leah I'm starving.

I ended up with a juicy burger and a slice of pizza.

Leah had a kebab with sue.

Phil had a burger also.

While Daniel had some kebab and pizza.

Sue had me sit next to her on the sofa

Leah opted for the coffee table with Daniel and Phil sat the other end of the sofa.

"Now tell me how old are you Mia?" Says sue

"I'm 26 years old" I reply.

"Only a year older than Leah then and 2 years younger than Daniel" sue says.

"Really I didn't realise me and Leah were nearly the same age" I say surprised by this new-found fact.

"My birthday is in February when is yours?" ask Leah.

"Um, my birthday is next month" I say.

"Well in that case if your back we must go out celebrate your birthday" says Leah sounding excited.

"I don't know it won't be the same without my mum" I say getting teary thinking about my birthday without my mum. She has always been there I don't think I want to celebrate it.

"Now listen to me, I know you won't want to celebrate, and it's going to be a hard day not having your mum here, But you shouldn't be alone so if your back I will take you out to lunch. Then you and Leah can have a girly evening in with you if you don't want to go out. But you promise me if your back you won't spend it alone. Your mum wouldn't want that trust me" sue says with a serious no nonsense tone.

"Okay" I say wiping my tears, and sue hugs me.

The rest of the evening was nice and everyone enjoyed the evening. I can't get over how nice everyone is. I'm so glad to of met such wonderful people in this lovely family of there's I think to myself.
