Chapter 17 worrying about Mia

DANIELS POV

After making love with Mia, we shared a steamy love making round in the shower. Then although I wanted to take Mia again she run all the way to the guest room to get changed, Locking the door so I couldn't carry her back to bed.

She was right though I had a meeting to attended. We then ate a big breakfast since it had just gone 1pm before heading to the company. If I didn't promise Mia I'd keep us low key at work then I'd of taken her on my desk! But since I promised her I really don't want to risk us being heard and breaking my promise.

"Mr Wicks" I hear.

Oh damn it I lost my focus again being distracted by thinking of my morning with Mia in my arms moaning in pure pleasure.

"Mr Wicks are you okay?" One of the men ask.

"Yes sorry I was just thinking about something. Is there anything else?" I ask.

Everyone shake's there head's no.

"Okay well that's it for today then. Until the next meeting" I say wrapping the meeting up.

With that I walked out of the room and hurried back to my office.

Mia was sat at my desk so focused into her work she didn't even see me come in.

She looked so elegantly beautiful with her grey trousers and black shirt.

" So you realise it's 5:45pm and your still working" I say while leaning against the door.

"Huh, what really" she says as she checks time, "Wow your meeting dragged out" she says.

"Yeah and you lost track of time and are still working" , I say while going over and closing the laptop.

"Hey I need to save it give me a minute and I will be finished" she says while glaring at me.

" Alright hurry" I say.

"What's your rush Daniel" , Mia asks.

"I missed you" I say walking towards Mia I kiss the top of her head and lean against the desk.

"Okay, I'm done" she says.

Mia stands up

"Daniel I don't feel tooo" Mia says,

And she starts to fall. I quickly catch Mia and lift her into my arms. F**k she has fainted I think.

"Jenny, Jenny get me a damn doctor now" I shout as loud as I can.

"Sir what's the matter" Jenny comes running in as I lay Mia on the sofa.

"Mia, has fainted get me a doctor now." I command

Jenny runs out the room again.

I take my jacket off and lay it over Mia's body.

"Aww what happened?" Mia says coming round and trying to sit up.

"No just lay there you fainted. Probably from lack of sleep and stress these past few weeks. You need to rest" I say.

"Sir the doctor says they will be here soon" , Jenny says coming back in.

"Jenny grab a bottle of water please" I ask.

"Mia how do you feel?" I ask as Jenny dashes back out the office.

"The fuzzy feeling is starting to pass let me sit up I need a drink" Mia says.

I help Mia sit up as jenny brings the bottle of water in.

"Here drink some of this" say Jenny

"Jenny take my car keys and have security park as close to the entrance as possible please" I ask.

And jenny head off.

"Mia you need to start resting better, maybe you came back to work to soon" I say.

"No just take me home I will fine. I will go to sleep and be bright as rain come morning" she says.

"I don't think so your staying with me where I can keep a close eye on you, I'm gonna make sure you rest" I say in a no nonsense tone.

"But" mia starts to say.

"No buts Mia your going to listen otherwise your make yourself really ill" I say.

30 minutes later I'm stood outside my office while the doctor checks Mia over, she sent me out because I'm fussing to much. I wouldn't call it fussing though, I'd call it caring!.

The doctor comes out not long after.

"How is she doc?" I ask.

"She is okay I'd say a little run down. From what you said about her mum dieing and the stressful week and lack off sleep it's all probably catching up on Mia, that when she stood she was already tired and she got up to quickly causing her to faint. A good meal, plenty of rest with some tlc and she should be fine" the doctor says.

"Thanks doc" I say and then I walk back into Mia, leaving jenny to see the doctor out.

"Mia how are you feeling?" I ask

"I told you Daniel I'm fine," Mia grumbles.

"Okay well let's get you home" , I take Mia's hand and keep a arm around her waist ready to catch her if she falls again as she stands up.

"I'm fine Daniel stop fretting" Mia says.

"I know but I'm just being cautious incase you faint again" I say. I grab Mia's bag and we walk to the lift slowly.

"Daniel I can walk abit faster you know" Mia says laughing at me.

"Okay" I say lifting her into my arms.

"What are you doing?" She moans

"Making sure you get to the car safely, plus the lift is about to go down" , I say walk into the lift." And the sudden movement may make you feel funny again." I quickly add.

"Im to tired to argue with you" she says.

"Then just go to sleep I will look after you" I say.

She closes her eyes and cuddles into me as I walk out the lift and head out of the building. The person who moved my car opens the passenger door for me and I place Mia into the passenger seat. I then buckle Mia's seat belt in before getting into the car myself.

"Mia just rest I will get you back soon" I say

Mia fell asleep on the way back. She literally just fell asleep as we arrived so I carefully got Mia out of the car and carried her all the way to my bed. I then went made some sandwiches. I ate one myself then I wrapped the other and kept it in the fridge for when Mia woke up.

I then quickly showed and got ready for bed myself. As I climbed into bed I cuddled up to Mia and went to sleep. I figured I'd sleep now that way when Mia woke up I could look after her, without getting to tired myself.

11pm I felt Mia stirring in my arms.

"Hey angel how you feeling?" I ask while rubbing my eyes to wake myself up a little.

"I'm just going to get a drink" she says.

"No you stay here I will get you a drink" I say and I rush to grab a bottle of water with the sandwich I made earlier on.

"Here we go something to eat and a bottle of water" I say climbing back into bed. I bring Mia to sit in front of me and I wrap my arms around her waist.

"I know your worried Daniel but honestly I'm okay, I feel alot better" she says.

"I know but you missed dinner you should eat something" I say kissing her cheek.

Mia eats her sandwich and I quickly take the plate to the kitchen. Before going back to bed. I bring Mia into my embrace. "Mia you should sleep again. You need rest" I say before placing a kiss on her forehead.

"Can I have the TV on low in the background please" Mia asks.

"Of course" I say, then I turn the TV on.

"What do you want to watch?" I ask Mia.

"Anything is fine just a little background noise is enough" Mia says.

I left it on the same Channel, then cuddled back up to Mia.

"Now sleep my Angel" I whisper into her ear.

Around twenty minutes later Mia was asleep. I made sure my alarm was off and went back to sleep myself.

"Daniel wake up we are late again" I hear Mia say.

"No, I'm late but it's okay I'm the boss I can go in later, however you are to take the day off work" I say.

"But I'm fine" Mia groans.

"You fainted less than twenty four hours ago because your run down Mia, that's not fine your body is crying out for help" I say.

"Okay okay" she says

"What time is it Mia?" I ask not wanting to open my eyes just yet.

"It's 8:35am" Mia says

"Okay well let's get some breakfast" I say finally opening my eyes.

Come 10am we have both dressed, Mia is wearing black Jean shorts and a white vest top. As much as I'd love to take her back to bed now I have a meeting soon.

"You don't have to take me home, I can get home by myself if you need to get to work" Mia says while hugging me.

"No it's fine I've got time, have you got everything you need?" I ask.

"Yeah I'm all set let's go" Mia says before kissing my cheek.

Once in the car I head for my parents house instead of Mia's home, knowing my mum will give Mia some tlc while I'm at work.

"Um Daniel this isn't the way to work or my house" Mia says looking at me quizzingly.

"I know your not going home yet, I will just worry if your alone" I say.

"Then where are we going?" She asks

"Your soon see" I say.

MIA'S POV

I decide not to argue I can tell Daniel is very worried so I just stay quite and wait to see where I'm going.

15 minutes later we are pulling into a huge house, not as big as a mansion but bigger than your standard house. It looks grand the building is white and has a stone drive way, a lovely green grass area with flower beds around the edge.

"Who lives here" I ask.

Daniel just gives me a cheeky grin.

We get out the car and I make sure I've got my bag with me before we walk up the few steps and Daniel just walks in.

"Mum where are you at" Daniel shouts.

"Aww your leaving me with sue" I say.

"Yes, I am" Daniel replys.

"I'm in the front room" sue shouts out.

The staircase is grand with oak wooden steps and a matching staircase. The hallway is a cream yellow with pictures all around.

As we enter the front room, it's huges.

"Daniel, Mia what are you both doing here" sue asks.

"Mum, Mia fainted last night she is trying to go to work but even the doctor agrees the lack of rest and the past few weeks are catching up on her. So I'm leaving Mia in your care while I go to work" daniel says.

"Honestly I will be fine" I say.

"No dear you can stay with me today, Daniel is right and I'd love to spend the day with you anyway." Sue says while giving me a 'you poor thing look'

"Mum Where's dad" ask Daniel

"He went to play golf with his friends." sue says

" Oh, Okay well I will be back as soon as I can" says Daniel before kissing me quickly on the lips. I then go bright red, he just kissed me in front of his mum, who he is about to leave me with the next few hours! What if she grills me over that kiss? God here Daniel is moaning about me being stressed ect yet he does this making me panic! I think to myself.

"Don't just stand there take a seat" says Sue.

I sit on a lovely brown 3 piece sofa.

"Are you sure you don't have anything to do today?" I ask sue, feeling bad about intruding on her day, even though its technically Daniel who made me intrude I'd of happily gone home.

"No, I'm sure so what would you like to do today?" Sue asks.

"Well, I wanted to go to work I'm trying to get back to a normal routine, however Daniel refuses to allow me to work today" I say.

"Don't over push yourself it will take time Mia." Sue says

"I know but with my birthday approaching I can't help but miss my mum even more so I'm trying to do things to keep me busy. But then when night fall comes some nights I just don't sleep well where as some nights I do. I don't know what to do." I say.

"You know dear, there is no time frame on grief and there is no right or wrong was to grief. And your right the first birthdays, Christmas, Easter ect are all very hard when you lose someone so close to you. But that's okay, it's okay to cry, scream and throw a fit it's completely normal the best thing to do is simply take one day at a time" Sue says.

"I know I'm sure I will be okay, like you said it will take time." I say

"Good now tell me what's going on with you and Daniel?" sue asks and I swear I want the ground to swallow me up right now.

"Well Daniel happened to kiss me and before I knew it I was kissing him back. I was abit surpised but we talked and both of us seem to like each other. Therefore have decided to date and see where things go from there." I nervously say.

"Well I reckon Daniel more than likes you, I think he is falling in love with you Mia and so long as you want to give that back I'm happy. Your a lovely young ladie who I will happily welcome to the family. I think your doing the right thing though starting off with dating with everything you have going on its wise to not rush into anything serious until your 100% sure. I would give you the don't hurt my son talk but I can tell your a kind soul." Sue says and I listen to every word taking aboard what sue has to say.

" Your all to kind to me I really don't think I'd of copied here in London without the support from you all" I say with a smile.

"I've started a puzzle on the kitchen table would you like to help me finish it" ask sue.

"Sure I'd love to" I say standing up to follow sue into the kitchen.

While we do the puzzle I can't help but think over what sue said. Does Daniel love me already? Is he falling in love with me? I know I like him but I wouldn't say I'm in love with Daniel yet, it's still early days.

DANIELS POV

After I finished my meeting, I soon rushed back to my parents house. My dad was home when I arrived full of beans after winning in golf.

We all had dinner together before my mum and Mia talked me into letting Mia go home for the night. I made sure she got in safe and told Mia she was to take the day off work tomorrow, I'd pick her up at 7:30pm for our date.

I then dragged Ben out for a beer, it was either drag someone out to drink with me or spend the night worrying about Mia.

Therefore I'm now sat in a booth with a beer in hand waiting for Ben to arrive.

"Dude didn't you order me one in since its you who dragged me out" I hear Ben say dragging me back from my thoughts.

"About time you showed up, you take longer than women to get ready" I say

"Hey do I look like a women?" says Ben

"Where did I say you look like a women? I just said you take as long a women, don't go twisted my words" I say

"Okay I will get a beer, then you can tell me what's got you rattled" he says while walking to the bar.

Within a few minutes Ben is back looking at me with an expant face. Ben is 5ft11. Ben is the skinnest out of all of us and always has been, but eats like no tomorrow it's really surprising. He has jet black hair with deep dark brown eyes that they near enough black in colour.

"What are you looking at?" I ask.

"I'm waiting for you to tell me what's rattled your cage." Ben says

"Nothing, I'm fine just wanted a beer with a friend" I say

"So nothing to do with Mia?" Ben asks

"Why would it be to do with Mia?" I respond.

"Oh come on Daniel the last poker night it's all you call talk about. I wonder how Mia is, I hope she is okay. I can't wait until she comes back. And Cliff said when he came for dinner you seemed very protective and obsessed with Mia, he hasn't seen you like that with women before." Ben says looking Smug as if he has solved the mystery

"Well I'm worried, she just lost her mum, and isn't doing well she fainted last night. And Mia and my Mum insisted she be okay to go home tonight. I'm just worried incase she faints again" I say.

"I see, does she know how you feel yet?" Ben asks while smirking at me.

"We are now dating, so I'd say she knows I like her." I say

"Well about time, but as for worrying just let her grieve how she needs to, and just be there when she needs someone that's all you can do" Ben says

"I know that" I say.

"Right drink up, you dragged me out for a drink time to drink" says Ben.

"Bottoms up" I say downing my drink.
